  1. Child! 79 coming up...Hot Damn. I'm only 64. Hope I'm riding everyday (weather allows here ... we don't all live in the Rider's Paradise knows as Australia :-/ ) when I turn 79.
  2. Passed 11,700 miles this week. Mildly disappointed but can't complain too much given the season (fall to winter) and that I've only had it about 3 months. Love the silly beast. First real light weight bike I've ever owned.
  3. That's awesome. Congratulations! That is truly wonderful ... and ... I am truly jealous. Congratulations. Any issues?? I only got mine about 3 months and 11,700 miles ago +/-. And am always on the lookout for bike specific issues I need to keep an eye out for. Love it so far though. Now if Mama Yama would put this engine in a middleweight version (say sub 500 lbs / 226 kg) of the Super Tenere ... and keep the shaft drive ... I would be in heaven. Heck, I'd trade in my ST and buy it even if they insist on keeping the chain.

America is big, really big. If you have some time and like to ride it can be pretty easy. While this isn't exact this overlay is pretty close. Really like the overlay you did. Outstanding.

  7. +1 on loosening the chain. It came from the dealer with absolutely no slack. I loosened it and then while on the bike I took a yardstick with a nail in it to check slack. Once it felt good, I locked in. Chain 10,500 miles later looks great. Additionally, once I got to 4,000 miles or so the engine seemed to really smooth out and run even better. The windscreen ... well it is simply bad. I am looking at replacements now.
  8. My Place of Birth. Sadly haven't been back now in over 50 years.
  9. Make that goal a reality. Ridden to Glacier several times. Just Beautiful.
  10. Matt Gray is what I have. Red is what I would have chosen. At one point it would have been blue. But since my FJR, VStrom and Super Tenere either were or are blue ... I just couldn't go blue again.
  11. Scaley: I forgot how picturesque the Lake at Bala is. When I was working in London, for long weekends I often went there to relax and to think. Bloody cold lake though.
  12. Wordsmith: In all things I seek clarity and obfuscation. It is good to know that I was, at least moderately, successful here.
  13. I have to agree with you Wales is breathtaking. And I miss my visits there. Haven't been back since I moved back to the States in the mid 80's. Miss it.
  14. 2 and 3 Cylinders: I have to say that I agree with you that the upgrade in Suspension has been a tremendous, and (at least for me) a better than anticipated improvement in my FJ-09. But for my "bony ass" the seat mod was the most important change. I could ride more than an hour with the stock suspension. The stock seat, which must have been an invention of a permanent resident of Dante's 7th Level of Hell, precluded even that however.
  15. I'm only at 7,700 miles. Had about 9 weeks now. Just got back from 3 day Arkansas ride yesterday. Head out again Wednesday for another 3 day ride. Should hit about 10.000 then.
  16. I really like the yellow wheels. Looks good. 8-)
