Well, I finally got the hard saddlebags mounted. I had anticipated and installed the support brackets this morning and it went pretty smoothly. I then added the new lock set and all is ok until I patch, fix and repaint them.

I was lucky enough to ride the 1200RT for my job and yes, I agree that it is a wonderful bike. So, the updated version must be even finer! Down here in NOLA, the streets are f.....up and I curse the mayor each time I ride my FJ09. However, the 1200RT was always super smooth! We don't have them anymore as we went full on Yamaha.

Well, I'm crossing my fingers as this part has been discontinued. I went to our local Yamaha Powersport dealer down here and they were gracious enough to give me a list of the few remaining stocks at other dealerships throughout the US. I called and out of all of them, one as the part!

I may have to adapt or modify some current ones or is it simply impossible?

Thanks a bunch. You may have saved me a lot of headaches. Now, the problem is to find some and it seems like a hard task ahead.

Hi Everyone, I just bought a pair of used hard saddlebags on "eBay" and I believe they come from a grey 2018 Tracer 900 GT (this was not mentioned)! I own a 2015 FJ-09 and now the problem is to figure out if the hard saddlebag support brackets for 2018-2020 will fit on my FJ09. Would someone be able to help? Down here in Louisiana, we are a rare breed. Especially when you ride year-long. I have been snubbed so many times that now I only return the favor of a wave or a snub. Harley riders are the worst offenders. B'mers are "real adventurers" and they don't see the scenery, just the next stop on their maps!

Well, I have 20000 mls on this baby and your experience may not have been the one I have now. It's OK. To each its own!

MOD $0.00 40318 08/13/2021 Today, I finally modified my air intake and cut about 3.5 inches off. I washed and air dried the K&N air filter and remounted in the airbox. I washed the bike thoroughly. I cleaned the drive chain with Kerosene and after drying, I lubed with Chain Wax. Finally, I adjusted the engine oil level by emptying half a quart and adding new oil (Castrol Actevo) to level before the full oil change coming up! Well, the difference is just incredible. It sounds better. The power is smoother and instant. I love this bike!

To be honest, I had been looking for one on all possible commerce sites, but they all sent me back to them Chinese made stuff. I simply refuse to buy any of this. It's only through this great forum that I was made aware of Rick's business. Yes, it is more expansive ($38.95 with S&H) but I got it in 2 days and I kept our mighty Dollar here!!!

I have been trying to keep a good record of all maintenance and mileage so far and just realized that I put a lot of miles on my bike since Dec.13th,2019! In fact, the counter was on the 24800 mls. mark. Today, it's got 39700. She is my only mode of transportation and I still enjoy riding her even in the sweltering heat and rain storms of Louisiana! What about you all? How many miles so far?

Good Morning tktplz, Well, one saying comes to mind; what doesn't kill you makes you stronger! I guess you got all these out of the way now ready for riding season. I'm a few years younger than you are, but I tell you, when I get on my bike, I'm like a kid again! When it comes to weather, what stops me is heavy rain. Other than that, I ride all the time as it is my sole means of transportation. Lately, I was a bit of a loner on the road with not many bikers around. Yesterday, while at CycleGear, people were showing up and buying stuff and all... Then, as I got back to my place, I could hear monstrous motorcycle exhaust screams going up and down Carrollton Ave! As I didn't want to be left out, I put my wheel back on and went out to test that new shoe. It felt just right. Have a great week-end, Fabrice

Well. it's done! Ended up costing $76.87 with tax but I had the shop put in brand new right angle pressure valves as well. Thank you all for your input! Reagards, Fabrice

Yep, I know'em. They're actually very close by and I do business with them. Very friendly crew and helpful. It's a nice sunny day today so I might do that this morning. I watched TwoWheelObsession on youtube last night. He was changing the tires on his FZ-09 and then concluded that it was just not worthy! Regards, Fabrice

Hey TKTPLZ, Love your post! I guess I should be heading up your way once you get your setup all in!!! It'd be a nice ride up. I did what you suggested about calling around and so far, I got Cycle Gear at 50 bucks with tax if I bring the rim and tire in. They might be my best bet. I saved quite a bit on the Dunlop Sportmax Roadsmart II at $87.66 and free shipping. Can't beat that! Best Regards, Fabrice

Hi Everyone, First post here on the forum. I'm an expat from Paris, France and I now live in New Orleans, Louisiana. I have been riding my beautiful FJ-09 since Dec.6, 2019. It's a 2015 model that I went and picked up in San Antonio, Tx. The bike is flawless and rides like a dream. I'm used to riding in Paris where the riding is much more aggressive than it is here. So, I have to watch my speedometer and my ego constantly not to blow my M endorsement! All that said, I have found that motocycle dealerships here are like dentists, they always want to make the most money out of your visit. Not sure if it's a good analogy but anyway! I am looking for a shop in New Orleans or around to simply unmount and mount my new rear wheel tire. I have bought the tire and I will take the wheel off myself. Does anyone know a place and if it is affordable? I appreciate all your help and suggestions. Regards, Fabrice
