  1. Hi and welcome,I am also in the UK with the same colour tracer9 GT,Iv'e had mine for one month,i think the older model's screens fit so maybe buy a cheap used one to see if its for you, then you have not wasted a lot of money. There is an MRA on fleabay at the minute.
  2. I went to oulton park yesterday on my 3 day old GT,even though running in can go up to 75 so not pootling about, did not want to go up the M6 so went up the A5,it's a 252 mile round trip,on the way up there was no petrol in most of the garages,so on the way back i was getting really worried as the bike has a 18L tank only 4 gallons so i thought could possibly run out up to 50 miles from home, went to ALL 19 garages on the way back,NO PETROL,run out 6 miles from home,so an amazing 246 miles from the tank.Equates to 61mpg.
  3. Great news,my dealer has done a deal with another dealer to get me a silver one and he went and picked it up on friday, went over there yesterday and its in the showroom,so i will be collecting it on friday, really cannot wait, off to watch the bike racing on it 2 days later.I am a happy man.
  4. The biggest hurdle has gone today,Sold my versys, nice bloke travelled down to me,paid and rode it away, now just got to get my dealer to "find"me a silver one before the next batch comes over in November.Happy but as i get older i am not patient so don't want to wait 2 months.
  5. bowlin01,Unlike triumph who charge the earth and the dealers are mostly incompetent, with yamaha the dealers are great so i am spoilt for choice, usually use Alf England in Bedworth[nr coventry] and Flitwick yamaha.
  6. wintersdark,I agree totally that the engine in the tracer more than punches over it's weight, certainly better in every way than the versys,BUT unfortunately yamaha seem to think that style over function is where it's at,otherwise why would they put a tiny "headlight" on it,totally the wrong shape,[pushbikes have a longer beam] and in our country only one on at a time, this is the ONE reason i sold my beloved mt10,could not see a thing in the dark, going down roads on bikes i have been going down for over 40 years and catching me out ,the "light " was so bad,and now they have gone and put it on the new tracer,i don't think yamaha think/care people go out in the dark anymore, but i can put spotlights on it,better than not being able to ride the big versys.
  7. sabre85,i know what you mean that has always been the tracers achillies heel,i loved my original tracer but could only take 170kgs[TOTAL] thats both people and luggage,me and my mrs were 200kgs so when she sat on it it went down so much it was like riding a chopper, the new tracer 9 has 23kgs more payload and even though that is still 7kgs less than we need, the tech said they build in parameters of + or - 25 so we should be alright with the new one,its just the massive loss of my one month old versys maybe over £3000 in your currency 4000-4500dollars loss in a month, madness, and in england they say there is a massive shortage of secondhand bikes,i can see why when they are worthless after a month.
  8. Thanks,roadrash83,if i sell my current bike my dealer has run out of the silver one's so will have to wait until november, but i'm prepared to wait.
  9. Currently got a kawasaki versys, but with my body telling me this is physically too big and heavy, had a go on the latest tracer 9 GT,its got the same bhp as my versys but is 100lbs lighter, physically much smaller and a lower seat height, crucially i rode it for over an hour and i did not know i had even been on it so that is the bike for me,just have to put up with the headlight [the reason i got rid of my beloved mt10] but i figure a set of spotlights is a small price to pay because i won't be able to ride my current bike much longer,it is only been for sale 1 day and i already have interest and a really good deal in place for the new bike,so all looking good, cannot believe how they made it so grunty[torquey] my sort of bike. Now they have made it capable of taking more weight the mrs is looking forward to it too.
  10. Good man, nice to hear and there is not much difference i am told, also you can get the dealer to upgrade yours with the latest suspension settings making yours an even better prospect.
  11. The price in the summer was $22,746,i got it for $17,487.
  12. Today is a sad day, they are coming to pick up both my bikes and i have to go and get my new bike next week because they are waiting for my matching topbox to arrive. But even though it's winter here the 70 mile ride home next week will turn into 150.
  13. Hi,It is a 2020 model and i got an amazing deal because it was the last one for this year, they were £17,199 in the summer,i got mine for £13,495.
  14. Thanks everybody for all the nice comments, that's why i enjoyed myself on this forum.
  15. It will be my 8th Ktm,they have all been reliable, must be the way i run them in,even the big single i had they said it will drink oil, mine never drank a drop.
  16. I have gone and done it,traded in both my yams for a Ktm 1290 superduke GT,I thought if i could have a tracer with the engine of my mt10 it still would not be able to take any weight, this new bike's payload is 243kgs so even though i am heavy it is meant for 2 up riding with luggage and the suspension is semi active,i have enjoyed my short time on here,i have luggage to sell to any members in the U.K. other than that, thanks to you all.
  17. When i had my mt10 done it was only 6 weeks old,it's only 5 months old now,but i am not worried about warranty,i am not paying to have my bike "serviced" every year when some years you might only do a 1000 miles.
  18. I had my ecu remapped by andy at j33 on my mt10 and its a 400 mile round trip for me but was really worth it as its night and day different,it makes the bike so instant at any revs,i will really miss that as i am thinking of trading both my bikes in.sorry forgot to mention the downside is you would probably have to tell your bike shop when servicing it as they might put an update into your ecu and it might knock your new map out and telling them voids the warranty,it dosen't worry me because i don't get my bikes serviced every year as sometimes you might only be done 2000 miles,if it has 6000 mile intervals thats when i have it done so my warranty would be voided anyway [if i am keeping the mt10] There is also PDQ in slough and Bsd in Eye nr peterborough,i have used all of these in the past.
  19. Yes i was attracted to it because of the reviews [until i felt it] but the main thing is if it fits you well and you want vents then that's good,i wanted as few vents as possible to make it waterproof as it is mainly for winter,i use my leathers in the summer. Also it says it is waterproof so you will be happy with it.Oxfords do not come with back protectors,so i would suggest you invest in one,i got a ce level 2 oxford one for £25.
  20. HGP61,I hope you will like the oxford mondial,i went to sportbikeshop to try one on and it was like a thin rag so i bought the oxford hinterland about 3 times thicker tri-laminate instead of double and it is really good with not a drop of rain even staying on the outside let alone getting in.Also it was only £50 more so a no brainer for me.Also i got a blue one to go with the bike.
  21. The lights are the reason i will definitely NEVER have one,There were 2 reasons why i bought my tracer because the lights are so bad on my mt10 that you cannot ride it at night, the shape of them means they go 20m in front but up the grass verge on both sides of the road, and the new tracer has these lights, when i found out the bigger lights on the new tracer were only the cornering lights and the little crappy one's were it's lights that's the end of it,i was thinking i could go down to 1 bike and the new tracer would be it,but i will stick to my 2 bikes now and look forward to the people who will get one then sell me their comfort seats of their 15-17 year bikes.
  22. I have re-purposed a blood pressure cuff to aid putting my wheels back on,it's great just place it on the ground with the wheel on top and pump it up[like a very small cushion]pump it until the spindle hole lines up,really helps as you have the spare hand needed to put in the caliper hanger properly and the spacers don't go flying across the garage, really good for the front also because you don't want the wheel dangling in one hand whilst trying not to cross thread the spindle in the fork, then a release valve to let it go flat and put it in your drawer, love it.
  23. My wheels were satin black, just thought as the tyres were off i would have them done gloss as i like to keep my bikes really clean so they will really be noticeable,i have the blue/purple wheels on my mt10 and they are a nightmare to keep clean.
  24. Not my preferred choice powermalc,i wanted either michelin pr4 or 5,but could not afford them, the one's i got were £100 cheaper, metzeler z8's not ideal but infinitely better than the standard dunlops and i fit and balance them myself.pr4's are about £225,5's £250,i got the pair of z8's for £143.sport touring tyres for the tracer then i can put out and out sporty tyres on my mt10.It will be a good time to fit some nice angled valves aswell.
