  1. After already having a couple of little slides with the crappy original dunlops and it's not even winter here yet, even though they have only done 1400 miles i decided to take them off and bin them,so took my wheels to get sprayed gloss black and when they are ready i will fit some new tyres that i have had in the house for weeks having bought them at an end of season sale, looking forward to seeing it with shiny black wheels with the nice blue of the bike.
  2. Hi Powermalc,Yes it was a demo from wollaston, what's really good on our bikes are the heated grips, never thought i would get any as good as oxfords but the yam ones have settings in the 3 options and i had to turn them Down whilst out the other day,i am well impressed with them.
  3. I have both the tracer and its bigger brother the mt10,i had a go on the Bmw xr1000 the thinking being its high and upright riding position like the tracer and the bhp of my mt10,so i could go down to 1 bike BUT the xr1000 was horrible the engine sounded like a bag of spanners and the heat it kicked out was horrendous,so sticking with both my yams.
  4. Hey Powermalc,Was that you on wednesday in Uppingham Harley,i went by on my blue tracer.
  5. I currently own my 75th and 76th bike so maybe i am in a good position to comment on this as i have had lots of different makes of bike, basically the yamahas are the worst fuelling of any i have owned,i have just picked up for my mate today a triumph twin, rode it 120 miles home and from the first mile the fuelling, gearbox and clutch were perfect resulting in a very smooth ride, but i have made my tracer just as good with a boosterplug it nows runs and fuels perfect.Had it down to 12mph in 3rd and just pulled smoothly away.My MT10 hunts and surges really bad until it gets to about 30mph making it really hard to potter through town and villages,so that is definitely getting a boosterplug. The tracer now with the plug and running some fuel injection cleaner through feels like its been mapped the throttle is so instant.
  6. I certainly won't be buying one if it has the crappy little headlights of my mt10,they are one of the 2 reasons i bought my tracer,so i could go out at night because the one's on my mt10 are dangerous.
  7. This weeks copy of MCN has literally just come through my door,on the front cover the NEW mt09.Brilliant they have got rid of that hideous thing halfway up the back wheel, imo it was the worst thing i have seen on any bike in years.
  8. Hi,Also check that your chain is not too tight,my mate bought a new tracer and the chain was that tight you couldn't even move it 2mm,by the time he found out he had a terrible whine coming form the gearbox that would not go away,so he sold it with 700 miles on the clock, that's what you get for trusting the mechanics.Should be at least 30mm on the centre stand especially if you are going to be 2 up a lot of the time.
  9. The 98 octane super unleaded we get here does make the bike pick up the revs quicker and make the bike smoother imo but i can never afford it so stick to the 95.
  10. Iv'e got an Oxford Hinterland Textile triple laminated,i do not see the point in having to put a liner in to make it waterproof also do not want a lot or any vents in a jacket,my waterproof textile is for Autumn/winter then i have a perforated leather jacket for summer.
  11. quetech,Completely agree with you about the size of the clock/dash,it is the sole reason i bought the standard tracer, also have a mt10 and wanted the sp but it is the same clocks as your gt,i could not read most of it,the dash on my mt10 is the same size but all the numbers/letters go right to the edges so are bigger and i can see them perfectly, can't understand why it's that size but the display is only in the middle bit.
  12. Hi,Wondered if anybody can help,i need to know where the A.I.S plug that plugs into the airbox is located,i have just bought a used boosterplug [even though it was listed as a 15/16,i checked with boosterplug that it fitted my 17] their website says the plug is on the left side, not on mine it isn't,i suspect i might have to lift the tank as it might be in the middle of the airbox,if this is the case can you lift up the tank from the front or does it have to be all disconnected, thanks in advance.
  13. They look like IXIL pipes,i have seen pipes like that a few times including on my mates triumph sprint 1050.
  14. I used to have nothing but dunlops for years as i felt they had a good feel for our roads, but bought some roadsmart 3's for my mt10 after years of michelins and absolutely hated the dunlops made the bike completely different and the handling skittish, could not trust the front and never had the re-assured and cushiony feel of the michelins.I also hate the dunlops that come with the tracer as standard only done 1300 miles and they are coming off before our winter they are so hard.
  15. Hi,Nice to see another UK member and you are only 35 miles from me,hopefully we can meet somewhere in the future and help you with some running in miles.
  16. I bought the tracer for nice Autumn/winter days like today,it's driving me mad not getting out,so more pictures of your exploits in the Uk so when/if i get some money i can ride them for myself.
  17. I'm itching to go ANYWHERE had my bike a month and only ridden it 50yds,devious goings on in my agency have resulted in me not having any furlough money for nearly 3 months so no insurance or tax.
  18. HGP61,I rarely envy anybody but up in your neck of the woods i would love to be up there riding today.
  19. I hope they don't go with the stupid little headlights i have on my mt10 because they are crap.
  20. Hello Andy, only been on here a week myself, worcestershire is a great part of the U K to live and enjoy your new bike on.
  21. The red key is for re-programming any new keys if you lose one or if you bend it in a pannier or if your existing black key plays up you can re program them,if you have not got the red key over here in the uk,the only way to sort it is to buy a new ECU that comes with 3 coded keys and these are £1500,so you just don't buy one over here without a red key.
  22. Tripletrouble,Thanks a lot for the offer and all the advice.I am really enjoying this place.
  23. I can't say for sure but my other yamaha i bought new 3 months ago and that has a red key,so i think your dealer is pulling a fast one and maybe lost the red key,i would find out for sure because a new ECU is £1500 and i personally wouldn't buy it if it is meant to have one and it's missing.
  24. Thanks BBB,you and stew have potentially saved me a lot of money and searching for things that don't work.
  25. yes i liked the 800[had 4 of them] but sold every triumph i ever owned all for the same reason, they are 4 times more expensive to service than my yamaha and when i go to my yamaha dealer you can see all the mechanics behind a massive glass wall [nothing to hide] serviced by people who know what they are doing unlike at least 4 triumph dealers that i have dealt with who i would not trust to blow up my tyres.
