  1. docsimple, everyone, thanks for the responses - a set of gaernes is on it's way - hope you are right. According to wessie, I've got beastly brogans that need drastic downsizing... (rofl) This'll be the third set of boots, so hope it's right the stuff. Wishing I'd kept my ratty old High Points.
  2. docsimple, how are they on the FJ? Shiftings tight with the Scouts.
  3. Has anyone tried the Gaerne Altus or Balance?
  4. Vince, you are right. It can be ADJUSTED. Pattonme gave me some tips and I never had a wobble. I used "sag and swag" and got the bike stable for my 260# frame - then put on EBC pads, a steering damper and reflash. The only thing about the damper is that the bike is less nimble at low speeds on the "Rolls Royce in the Sweepers" setting. Waiting for an open track in the spring to test my settings at speed.
  5. Anybody with size 12 feet have a recommendation?
  6. Put a 20 buck WOLO low tone horn on the bike! Plug and Play from local car parts store for 12V vehicles 1955 to present. WOLO recommends switching the signalling system fuse to 10A. The current 7.5A fuse seems to work fine with the motor running, all flashers, brake light and horn going simultaneously. The stocker was ignored by someone who blew a stop sign whilst talking on a cell phone the other day. Won't happen again. WAAAAAAAA! WAAAAA! Alternative is "surface to surface destructive device" to remove offending vehicle and driver.
  7. kevinkbl, is there a funny snail shaped bend at the end of the pipe?
  8. I'm wondering if the power gains are worth pulling the tank again - the foam looks like it keeps out leaves, twigs and small furry animals that may otherwise get sucked in...
  9. Rode it. Picked up a LEO tail at a light. Stayed with me for nine miles. Sure I was going to get pulled over. Felt like I was taking my driver's test again. Got home and spent a couple of minutes scrolling thru the menus checking/deleting trip data. Averaging 44.2 mpg on the new flash.
  10. javashot, the Akropovic Titanium is not loud at all. The popping sound was partly due to the pipe. The stock can pops, but there's three turns in the pipes to deaden the sound. You can send the ECU back to Nels to have it updated. I hoisted my bike up in the air to avoid removing and replacing the center stand.
  11. Rode it yesterday - from DC to Wardensville WV and back on some fine twisty roads. Next weekend will be in the 60's. Out for sure!
  12. Rode it! the 2WDW flash is awesome. Throttle response is smoother - lets me go thru choppy twisties with more confidence - less engine braking and no pop pop pop when I back off the throttle. Runs cooler. Need to find a legal environment to check other aspects of the reflash. Also stiffened rear shock up one notch to 6/7. The D 222s feel less squirmy, almost planted in corners now. Must be my learning curve. Overall, the new flash is a must have. This bike now rocks.
  13. vduboy The Akrapovic Titanium is quiet until you pull the divertor. Tested the new EBC rear pads in city traffic - MUCH better and I haven't changed the lines yet. Put Race Graphics Headlight screens on the bike - found them on this forum. { () } { () }
  14. Rusty Spoke, I'm wearing size 12 A Stars Scout WPs and raised the shift lever all the way and they are okay - but tend to snag the pegs. Thinking of hitting the first line of cleats with the grinder...
  15. ULEWZ, torque spec for rear calipers? BTW, EBC pad part #s are: FA252HH (x2) for fronts, FA174HH for rear in the sintered pads. Ordered my service manual, but it's not in yet.
  16. So, you had not done the oilpan mod? Read more: http://fj-09.org/thread/220/fj-today?page=58#ixzz3rIDppRNK My Akrapovic Titanium exhaust now "protects" the oil pan - even less ground clearance. I HATE speed bumps, especially in parking lots. Why???
  17. Shortened the pedal throw on rear brake and bled it to improve feel - found bleeder valve just past finger tight, but no fluid loss. Will probably try EBC HH or Ferodo pads to see if they help.
  18. diveslob, Metal, even our precious FJ's, can be replaced. Glad you are okay.
  19. Jimf, for your EZPass, there are two pre-drilled and tapped holes under the fronts of the handlebar top caps - could you attach a mount there on either left or right or both? And I thought those were free like HOV lanes for bikes. Or, I may get some mail on that...
  20. Put a GPR V4 steering damper on (bolts with kit for bar risers are too long - use ULEWZ, RedFJNiner or Scuff's posts for reference on how to swap studs end for end) and updated the GPS... Set damper to "9" for test run.
  21. Thanks for the tip, Wessie. Will have to look at those - don't like the feel of the rear brake, but the front will pull you down okay. Use the front the most - except in traffic and on hills. Glad to hear there's some life in the front pucks - about two tire changes.
