One reason I loathe the current trend of "limousine tint" on car windows. When I'm riding, I have always tried to watch cage drivers head movements for a clue as to what dumbass thing they're gonna do next to threaten other drivers (ie: me!). Now you can't see these cues, which makes it all that much sketchier for us all out there.

"No, Officer, I wasn't really speeding. I was just demonstrably safer with him two counties behind me!" Eh, might work...

Add to that tint issue is that here in NY, NYC and the surrounding suburbs at least, the new trend is to tint the whole front windshield of your car. I truly do not get how these people get away with it, and when you do catch of glimpse of the driver, they’re also wearing sunglasses!!! Wtf 😎

  2. Completely normal, at least in my case, some great points made above like being “alert” but not paranoid and having good and bad riding days.

I got my Tracer hoping to commute to work into NYC from the burbs and once I get into the city I no longer enjoy the ride.  It is filled with crazy people who don’t respect each other in cars let alone bikes, I now look forward to my weekend rides further north and into the mountains with much less traffic.

  3. Went to get my suspension set up at Washington Cycle Works in NJ, I haven’t been riding for a long time so I didnt think I was experienced enough to notice a suspension tune but I sure did immediately after this. We have a lot twisty roads up here where I live and I am getting more comfortable each time I ride to push the bike further, but I always felt uneasy leaning the bike as far as I know it could go, after the set up it was so much easier to do, I can only only imagine what swapping out the spring for a upgraded one would do, thats on the wish list for the future.

which did you get?,are you liking them ? ,im am bout to order the shortys

I got the standard length, they are a very good upgrade imo, at least for me and my embarrassingly small hands, the clutch works just fine with the cc.

Just wondering if any forum members have used foam grip covers and if they offered comfort benefit, how long they lasted, etc. Also how was the fit on the Tracer handlebars?

I use them and like them, noticed less vibration on the bars, I think they're worth it.

Fit was just fine on the bike, I used the air compressor method you can find on Youtube, went on in a minute and didn't have to deal with the soapy mess.

You can use any footpegs from the MT line, Tenere, or FJR1300's, so there's lots of options.  I've got dirt cheap Amazon ones which are *alright*, but you get much better results with adventure pegs that have a soft rubber cushion and bitey metal bits.  They're spendy, though, and the Amazon rubber topped pegs are like $25, so...

Thanks man, I need to get off this forum so I can stop spending money.....

  8. Hit 83* here in NY today, absolutely had to ride, after installing the Grip Puppies I now notice the vibration in the foot pegs, it was there before but now that I dont feel it as much in my hands I notice it more there at higher speeds.
I agree with everyone else though that it is a heck of nice engine, when you get on the throttle it does not dissapoint!

If your not looking for fancy animations or strobe, I would say maybe buy the x-arc from high speed tech for a little more quality and $$. The build quality is just ok, the lenses seem chincy but the rest is good.  On par with oem brightness.

Thanks, I’ve been looking at those as well but I’m not sure about the look of them on this bike, but they do have some great reviews from folks who have them, just might bite the bullet and go with the Yamah LED’s.

  10. Today I had the switch changed out by the dealer, they actually sent the tech up an hour from their shop to do it in my garage.  I just purchased the bike last month and only rode from the dealer to my house so I haven’t had a chance to play with it due to our crappy weather, but after he left I was looking at the bike wondering where I would install a set of DRL’s I’m planning on and noticed this brake light issue when I checked to see if they were working properly.  This is a concern for me as well as I would rather have the brake light illuminate as soon as I put pressure on the brake.

On my previous bike, a Yamaha as well, the light came on with the slightest touch of the brake lever, granted it did not have cruise control, but it worries me enough to do the steps in the video to fix it.

    Thanks for finding a fix!👍

without spending $$$, there are plenty to set up the SAG front and rear which i think u know the basic set up. (i dont initially when i got my bike)

some riders here, me included find our private parts/butt seem to slide close to the fuel tank,  Top secret R&D by someone in this forum is to put washer/coin on the adjustable seat height bracket to prevent our butt sliding to the front.

if its ori dunlop d222 tires, than guess first wallet spending would be on tires (i initially was sceptical and change it after 1,000km riding, and man, wish i would have change it immediately upon receiving my bike), i follow most of it here, Michelin Road 5. wanted Pirelli Scorpion STR but in my country, only rear available,  front size not available.

Am no expert here, still receiving a lot of input input on this great forum.

@WKE002 I did notice the sliding into the tank thing right away, I have the seat DIY saved to do it soon, also read up on the tires, thanks for recommendations

Not sure where you are in NY but Washington Cycleworks does suspension setups.  Highly rated.  Had all my bikes done there incl Tracer.

@mikerbiker Thanks! Found one in Jersey, 1.5 hrs away, highly recommended by a lot of folks around here, I will definitely take the ride out there.

Welcome to the forum! what part of NY are you in? I grew up in Westchester County. I will also recommend a trip down to Washington Cycle Works, They have done over half a dozen bikes for me. They set up the stock suspension on my GT and I'm very happy with the results. Enjoy!

@roadrash83 Thanks man, I'm in Westchester as well, Ossining to be exact.  Soon as the temps get a little warmer I'll be taking the ride.

  12. Hi all, new guy here, picked up a 2020 this afternoon, sooo happy.  I’ve been lurking on the forum a while now reading up on the bike since I decided it was the one I wanted last year.  I’m in NY and had to drive an hour into the city to trade in my Bolt and pick up the Tracer, it was 23* degrees this morning and the ride down was not fun, but I smiled the whole way home on the GT!
Can’t wait for the weather to warm just a bit so I can start riding this thing to work, in the meantime I’ll keep reading up and participating in the forum.

    Thanks and ride safe!
