  1. You are exactly right. I'm not on my beginner bike and I'm on a bike that is sized for me. The weight with bags is something I'm getting used to (only from pushing it around, not riding) and I thought I was going to drop it the first and only attempt at using the centerstand. It just feels like a glove now. I never understood it when people would say "it felt like I was riding on it vs. being a part of it". That is something I clearly understand now. Thanks for the tips. I have already read your seat mod post twice before I even picked it up. I will most likely try it this coming weekend depending on how the "high" seat position goes. Some of the buzzing was also in the pegs but I'm guessing that's just normal. Thanks for the help and suggestions!
  2. Congrats on the new bike. I got a leftover as well but the used market here sucks azz. A used 2019 with 20,000 - 35,000 miles is fetching $11,500 at dealers. It sounds like it's the same where you are. They are far and few between private so I said eff it, I'm buying new and they did discount it. That's why I went so far to get it. Anyway, Congratulations!!!
  3. I picked up the new bike on Saturday, around 10:30am and rode it 130 miles home. As soon as it was started inside the dealership, I gave my wife a look for pure joy. Like, are you hearing this too??? I rode about 80 miles of non-freeway roads and then finally hit the freeway. It was very hard to keep it in B mode and under the revs. I'm a little nervous about hitting standard and then eventually A mode but that's why I wanted it - lots of room for growth. The seat was in low mode and the sales guy didn't know how to adjust it so I kept it like that. The bike is tall for me (I'm 6'2" and I have no idea what my inseam is) but I'm still getting used to it. It just feels right sized for me. The sound is just mesmerizing to me and I haven't even really heard it yet in the higher revs. I found it a little buzzy on the freeway (70-73mph) but it could have simply been the road since I was in the slow lane, with lots of hills, and that's where the semi trucks also drive for miles upon miles. Can anyone recommend a good phone mount and top case? I think I need a mounting plate and top case but I'm not sure. I'll take a look later today here and on revzilla/cyclegear. I'm very happy to call myself a new Tracer owner as this bike is amazing. Lastly, Thank You to @wanderer and everyone else who gave me advice for the ride home. I appreciate your help. Thanks, James
  4. I'm not sure. I have not looked for any of these and I didn't see any at the two dealerships I went to. However, that doesn't mean they aren't here. I was only looking at the 2020's.
  5. Yeah, it sounds like we pretty much are doing the same thing. Did you ride your bike on the freeway the whole way home or did you mix taking back roads (the 1) and freeway. Anything you're willing to share about your ride back would be great. Thanks. And I'm down to ride if you ever want to meet up. The last two weekends I rode to Idyllwild to get used to long trips. We did Mailbu about a month before that. I just needed to get out of the house and do more than a canyon run.
  6. I think I'm thinking of Tortilla Flat but I can't remember. You're a badass.
  7. My in-laws just moved to Yuma, which I know is not close to PHX. I know there's a popular canyon road/ride somewhere near you that I want to check out. Then again, it could southeast near Tucson. I just can't remember. Do you ride year round or skip the hottest months?
  8. Yeah, I live 10 minutes from tons and tons of canyons which is nice. I only missed about 10 days of commuting last year to weather so it's nice. I'm looking forward to those heated grips. Where are you located now?
  9. Hi and Thanks angry! I appreciate the route info.
  10. Hi Salish, Thanks for the reply. I bought it in Riverside (Malcom Smith) and will ride it all the way down to Chula Vista (south of San Diego). I do plan to do the soft break-in, even though I found this video basically saying it doesn't matter. Thanks for the help!!
  11. Hi Wanderer, I know this is an old thread but I just bought a 2020 Tracer GT and I live in Chula Vista so I would be happy to join you on a ride. Thanks, James
  12. Hello, Has everything been sold? I'm interested in the touring windshield and potentially the seat. Thanks, James
  13. Hi, I just bought a 2020 Tracer 900 GT. It will be my second bike and will replace my 2016 Honda CB500F (twin) that has ~28,000 miles on it. I was going to get an MT-09, then a Z900, then a Tracer 900 GT, then a Triumph Tiger 900 GT. I finally decided the best option was to go Japanese 3 for long term reliability, reduced ownership cost, and ease of service and parts. I pick it up this coming Saturday and will be driving it about 122 miles home. I'm hoping someone can help guide me about the break-in process. I can certainly take back roads (city, country) the whole way but at some point I'm hoping I can hop on the freeway and vary riding using 5th and 6th gear. Look forward to chatting and hoping I have something I can contribute. Thanks, James
