Premium Member OutlanderBC Posted July 11, 2015 Premium Member Share Posted July 11, 2015 I now have 4200 kms on my FJ, on my last couple rides I've notice I'm occasionally fighting with the shifter to get the bike into 3rd gear. 1st, 2nd, 4th. 5th & 6th no issues, but when trying for third the shifter sticks and won't budge. Clutch is fully engaged. However if I let the RPMs drop a bit, suddenly I can get the shifter to move up and allow the shift. (I am by no means flooring it when I try this, just general smooth acceleration) Any thoughts?
Premium Member wessie Posted July 11, 2015 Premium Member Share Posted July 11, 2015 Have you eliminated the usual maintenance things? Chain tension, oil level, clutch free play If they are all okay, try moving the gear shifter. This signature is left blank as the poster writes enough pretentious bollocks as it is. Premium Member keithu Posted July 13, 2015 Premium Member Share Posted July 13, 2015 I had this same issue and moving the shift lever up a bit solved it. There's a good thread on the topic in "Known Issues."
scotto
I was having the same issue with an occasional missed shift or false neutrals. Found a slight upward adjustment of the shift lever cured the problem. Shifter was not "resetting" after I shifted because of my fat boots. Though I was not experiencing this in only one gear. Is yours one of the bikes in the recall for the shift cam? Just a thought.
