silverninja
Does anyone have a “magazine-derived” Speedo error on the FJ-09, since the testimonies I’ve read here on the forum are all over the map. Like the one from “Motorcycle Consumer News”, whom I’d trust (?)
Supporting Member betoney Posted February 9, 2017 Supporting Member Share Posted February 9, 2017 I don't know of anything "official" in print, or online. I agree that results seem to be all over the map from different riders. To run my comparison, I used a Garmin GPS on the handlebars, I rode on an open stretch of interstate (no tall trees, buildings or obstructions). I rode at various speeds, 65, 70, 75, 80 and held it at a steady pace for about 10 seconds each time. With stock gearing the difference for me was 1 mph, and when I changed to a 15 tooth front sprocket the results were off by 1 mph as well. I have read others report that their speedo is off by as much as 7mph. ***2015 Candy Red FJ-09***
Premium Member keithu Posted February 10, 2017 Premium Member Share Posted February 10, 2017 I did a ride last year that was 1100.2 miles according to my odometer, but 1055 miles according to mapping software. That's about a 4% error. I'm riding with stock gearing and Michelin PR4 tires.

Supporting Member texscottyd Posted March 3, 2017 Supporting Member Share Posted March 3, 2017 My speedo verses GPS, 1-20 same, 21-50 +1, 51-100+ +2 mph. Kurt That seems to match my experience exactly. For what it's worth, laid out on the speed governor, mine shows 114 indicated and 111 GPS verified. -Scott
