rtaylor522
So call me what you will, but I have the tool and the lube and no idea how to access either cable sufficiently. Any help would be greatly appreciated. Also, what are you using to lube the pivot points for brake and clutch levers?
carey
The throttle housing is held together with two screws. This will get you access to the cables.
rtaylor522
Do you have to remove the top end of the clutch cable to do it? And is the juice with the squeeze on the throttle at 2000 miles? I commute daily rain or shine.
crempel
Yes, you have to disengage the end of the clutch cable from the clutch lever. I’m sure there are lots of YouTube videos showing that. I have no idea what you second question means, sorry.
rtaylor522
Is it worth it to deconstruct the throttle cable housing with only 2k miles on the bike...I ride it rain or shine, but it looks pretty sealed up unlike some older bikes I've had. Almost 35,000 on mine and unless the dealership lubed it, it hasn’t been touched. I ride in the rain a lot. I did squirt a little lube in the clutch cable housing when I swapped levers about 25,000 miles ago. Let’s go Brandon
enx
I lubed mine, by the first method.
Premium Member keithu Posted March 30, 2018 Premium Member Share Posted March 30, 2018 Maybe I don't know what tool you're talking about, but I don't disengage the clutch cable to lube it. I just squeeze the lever and that exposes enough of the cable to squirt in some lube. I use Dri-Slide lube that comes with a needle-tip applicator on the bottle. It's small enough to fit into the small opening and squirt some lube into the cable housing.
rtaylor522
Was talking about one of those cable lubers that looks like a small clamp... Motion pro or kiwav I think... Don't know how to post pic from phone.

cschacker
I am lubing the cables and am curious: it appear you can only lube one of the throttle cables; the other one does not have the adjustment mechanism that allows you to access the cable. Seems strange...
