The Accidental Commuter

I commute on my FJ most of the time I'm at my home office. That's only 50-60% of the year; the rest of the time I'm on business travel in a rental car.

Aerostich is always my first advice to commuters, but you have that covered. The other essential IMO is hard luggage, either a top box or side cases.

Definitely watch the SMIDSY video. I do the SMIDSY weave every time I approach an intersection with cars. It makes a big difference, I have definitely seen people start to inch forward and then stop when I start weaving.

I don't think hi-viz clothing is terribly helpful, except from the rear at night.

One more pro tip I always keep in mind, especially at intersections - if you can see the sun in your mirrors or your shadow in front of the bike, red alert sirens need to be sounding in your head. Oncoming motorists may be effectively blinded.
