Smaller Front Tire?

Recommended Posts

Have not heard of anyone trying this but does not mean it has not been tried.   Are you disappointed with the way the bike currently handles?

There is nothing like spending a day riding with friends in the grip of a shared obsession.

That would probably speed up handling. If anyone has a complaint it's that the bike is unstable so I don't think most people would try it.

Have you considered raising the forks. Even a couple mm has a surprising effect on turn in.

I don't look hard, but are there decent 110 wide tires? 120, I think, is a more popular size.

Thanks johnmark and 1more for your thoughts...I think the FJ handles OK...

it's not the quickest turning bike I have ridden...certainly decent and fun to

ride...

1more, can you elaborate on your comment that people think the FJ is unstable?...

in what respect?...would like to know...and how, in general, do you raise

the forks?...not sure about a wide (5 inch rim) 110 tire...did a little looking

but could not tell much...

Thanks for everyone's input...John H.

Thanks Betoney...I have aftermarket springs up front...

and a large windscreen...don't know if those  help...

I haven't experienced the wobble,

as I have not approached 100 MPH, and probably never will...

but good to know and will watch for it...John H.

@betoney answered one of your questions.

Raising the forks = lowering the front end. Loosen all the steering fork pinch bolts CAREFULLY and slide the fork tubes up. Do it a couple of mm at a time. Do it equally both sides. The bike will turn faster.
