When you have the right tool for the job (not a street bike), riding off road is a blast.  In my area we have almost as many forest roads or non-paved access roads as paved roads, the amount of the areas that you can access and explore is mind boggling, especially since so much of the area is forested and mountainous.

Hundred percent agree with you, dirt bike is the way to go on the trails.  I've raced MX, done some local enduros, but I was on a group ride with some guys and I didn't have a GPS yet, so I had to follow.  I go there to ride asphalt is what I should have said.

My current do it all off road bike. I don’t have a 100% dirt bike right now because of no where to ride it, everything around here is closed up or priced through the roof.

So this old girl will have to wet my appetite for any dirt excursions I do. And it does it very well so far. No double take mirrors on it but I do have the pricey Rottweiler CRG Arrow setup which works great on the T7. Wish I could figure out this setup to use on my Tracer.

So this old girl

I know that's a term of endearment but that old gal is a brand spanking new T700 right? Like @betoneysaid earlier, here in the south Puget Sound area, we are blessed with endless and unbelievable dirt roads. A legacy of US taxpayers paying for the USFS to build thousands of miles of logging roads for the timber companies to use to make the profit off the trees. Massive corporate welfare, but we call socialism when we offer medicare. But the logging roads do now provide a playground for offroad folks around here.

We can use the forest service roads here. Just cannot venture off the road unless you are on a horse.

Yes the T7 is new I bought it back June 2020 after a 4 year wait from Yamaha. I like it a lot but it’s no Tracer 900 on the street. The CP2 engine in it is however considerably smoother than the Tracers CP3 engine.

When I said "the right tool for the job (not a street bike)"  ^^^ this is exactly what I was referring to.  👍

I was at the dealer yesterday getting new tires and the service manager told me he has a T7 demo model waiting for me to come in and test ride.  I hope to take him up on the offer soon.  😎
