first farkles fitted...

I completed a couple of ‘farkles’ today on the new Tracer. BTW – I hate that word [em]’farkle’[/em] – but have to admit it is useful shorthand, along with BTW, IMHO, YMMV, and others!

First job was to fit the new made-in-Italy STEBEL MAGNUM horn that arrived in the mail today. At $23 inc postage it has a mini-Mack truck-like deep ‘bark’, by no means offensive, IMHO, but certainly attention-grabbing. Installation was dead easy (I’ve fitted them to other bikes), just needing a small bracket folded-up from one of the two perforated steel strips that came with it, and reconnecting the two spade terminals.

Second task was to make up a radiator-guard, which I did with a $20 sheet of black aluminium “Universal Mesh”, as it’s called. This stuff is widely used on commercial radiator guards; it’s fine for tea-strainers, I’m sure, but wouldn’t stop a flying rock of any size. But I’m only looking for it to prevent the myriad of tiny nicks and scratches that will otherwise mar the painted finish on the radiator itself. Time will tell…

Finally, I zip-tied a short piece of clear plastic hose, slit along the middle, to the underside of the pannier support bracket that comes out from the rear of the pillion foot-peg. I’ll use that bracket to lift the bike onto its main stand, and as it’s pretty sharp along the underside edges and I don’t want to ruin my concert-pianist hands, the hose will give a nice pain-free finish to the bracket.

BTW – with the bike in bright sunshine today, its colour seemed to change, the deep grey/ anthracite matte colour taking on a silvery hue. But more than that – I noticed for the first time that the wheels, cylinder-head covers, and a couple of other neat castings on either side of the engine are finished in yet another colour, a kind-of deep gunmetal. Anyone else noticed this?

More later…   I tried to post two pix but only got so far, using the IMGUR facility.   I need full instructions from woe-to-go, please, as tailored for a five year-old!   I am computer illiterate... Do I first complete and enter the text (as here) then somehow add the pix before hitting [em]'create thread'?[/em] ...?   It's adding the pix after I've downloaded them onto the INBUR screen that stumps me... [em]sorry[/em]... don't hit me!!   HELP!!!

I've been using the passenger grab handles to get the bike on the center stand. Also, I find it's easier to manhandle the bike in tight spaces with one hand on the handlebar and one on the passenger grab bar than any other method. The seat is a little too high to get much leverage to back the bike up while on the bike and two hands on the handlebars while off the bike is just awkward and you still can't get much leverage. I find I use those passenger grab bars more than a passenger would.

[em]Yo[/em], wessie!   I intended to PM you to ask for a bit more guidance on this, but then I figured that as I'd seen one or two others tell here that they cannot post pix I thought you might like to give a more public airing to help both me and others.
I had already, of course, looked at and followed Cruizin's original guidance on posting pix, from March 16th.
I got this far:  wrote-up my words.   Put them into  a 'new thread' box.  Clicked on IMGUR.   Cruzin's notes said [em]"if using Imgur upload the photo [/em](which I did, x 2), [em]then simply drag and drop the desired photo from Imgur into the[/em] [em]post".[/em]   At that fence, I fell - just couldn't seem to get anywhere.
It is often said - [em]'it didn't happen without pix'[/em] so I hope you can give me a bit of guidance on this!
Cheers..

I wonder if you are using a mobile device ? I have only had any luck on my desktop. It's too bad there is no easy way to upload from an iphone or similar.

Click on the image in imgur, and postable links will appear on the right side. copy and paste the "direct ink" url into the post.
If you just click on the two page symbol to the left of the URL, it will be automatically copied.   Just a little simpler.

Visit imgur in your mobile browser, click on the photo you want to post. Above the picture the "link" is posted. Click on the word "link" and change it to "direct link". Copy and paste the url into your post.

Let's try that then - thank you (I think!):  [em](Later)[/em] - NUFFINK! I tried option #1 above - but taking 'ink' as meaning 'link'.   Bring on the Valium!!

Oops. Indeed "ink" should be "link". I've corrected my post.
