Btw, MC Motoparts makes an FZ-09 peg with a 360 swivel, so you could raise or lower the pegs a little. http://www.mc-motoparts.com/products/trc-cnc-front-rider-foot-pegs-24mm-adjustable-fit-yamaha-mt-09-13-14.html I put a seat of their pegs on my Datyona. They held up well and are quite impressive for the price.

Mid 6000 miles currently. Replaced the rear tire, the front seems good for another 1500 or so miles. Not sure, have never used sport touring tires before, so I am just checking and guessing at this point. Have not replaced anything else other than oil and brake fluid. 4-9-2016 - Now have 8500 miles on it. No issues whatsoever. Redfjniner would be my guess for mileage king on these forums. He posts a lot, so you should run across him and could ask him.

I think you will like the bike. It's a riot and, imho, an excellent touring bike. I road it 3000 miles in 8 days last fall.My perspective is always lighter is better, so bikes like the FJR1300, ST1100, etc., are simply out of the question. When I arrive at the twisties I want to shred them. Yes, it can take a fair bit of adding/changing to dial in for your personal preference, but it cost less to start and will always be more agile than a larger bike. Hope it grows on you.Cheers

I installed the T-Rex Racing frame slider kit. It came with two case covers, two frame sliders, two axle sliders and bobbins for a rear wheel stand for $290. I thought that was a pretty good deal. Everything installed without drama (barely had time to finish my beer!). The big bolts on the frame sliders aren't too stylish. Hopefully I can track down something nicer looking before dry weather arrives and I'm too busy riding to care. ;>)

It has been a long time since I had mirrors that showed anything more than my elbow, so I've become kind of a fan of them.

I put on the Speigler steel braided brake lines and got much better brake feel. After one or two good hard brakings, the set up feels solid. I plan to switch to EBC HH pads once the roads are dry and warm around here and I can scrub the in properly. So what are people doing with their mirrors if they swap the master cylinder? Cheers

Added the Sw Motech Alu-Rack and remounted the front fender after gluing in a carbon fiber fender extender. You can also see the Spiegler steel braded lines - very stealthy in black. Cheers

I installed a GPR V4 steering dampener this evening. Hopefully, I will get some dry roads to test it soon. The nuts under the top triple clamp are a serious pain in the arse to get too. Hope I never had to access them again. Cheers

Installed my heated grips today. I decided to install the 4" piece of shrink tubing on the left grip based on the suggestion of someone on this forum (forgot who, but great tip. Thanks!)Job went smooth except when it is 45F in the garage and all you have is a hair dryer it takes a freaky long time to get heat shrink to shrink. Tomorrow is supposed to be cold and sunny - sounds like the perfect chance to test them out.

I didn't know there was a way to replace the brake lines on our FJs. A quick look when I bought my bike, it looked like it would be difficult to design. Any problems bleeding the system with ABS? I was thinking you may need a computer interface to command the ABS to cycle, or maybe it didn't get disturbed in your installation..? And more importantly, how do your brakes work now? !! Hugger. I just installed the front fender extender, haven't felt the need for a hugger yet, but will check it out. Ty I checked with Yamaha and you do not need to run the diagnostic on the ABS unit just due to changing the brake lines. However, I do plan to stop in and have them run it anyway. They said no problem.To change the lines I had to remove the bodywork, tank and airbox (seat too of course). The truly time consuming part was removing the brake line union hangers - they are in some difficult to reach places. A fair bit of fluid leaked out of the ABS unit when I removed the banjo bolts there. Due to it being inside a very small box, wiping it up is virtually impossible, so I put paper towels under it and blasted it with brake cleaner. Not perfect, but it seems gone now. I had drained the reservoirs, but should have tried to drain the lines. Not sure it would have pulled fluid out of the unit. Live and learn.Bleeding afterwards was no more difficult than before - however, you need a lot more fluid. I used two of the small containers. I bought the rear hugger for two reasons - I live on a dirt road and was constantly shocked by the amount of debris flung onto the rear shock and on my last road trip it rained three times and I got a lot of spray and muck on the saddlebags. Reviews said it should help with both. The description of the hugger is wrong. It is nearly twice as long as the stock piece, not 30%. Cheers

I installed an R & G Rear hugger and Spiegler steel braided brake lines. The brake line swap was a serious amount of work. I was very impressed with Spiegler's kit though - every single piece fit perfectly and all the rubber bungs were exactly where they needed to be. Will try to get out tomorrow to prove to myself it was worth the effort. Ha Ha My heated grips arrived, but my back needs a break from contorting into the FJ, so will install them this weekend. Also, have a crabon figer front fender extender arriving any day now. That should be an easy install.

I returned my 26" touring screen from Parabellum. I am a small screen, feel the breeze kind of guy. Plus it is 105F on my patio right now. I'll need a monster screen for 3 months out of the year - but will pull my windbreaker over my jacket instead. Parabellum made a good product though, just not for me. Cheers

Shoei RF1100. It may be better suited to sportbikes, but it is only 18 months old so I will be living with it.

Those go really well with the screen and the silver bike.
