  1. Any noticeable improvement in comfort? I've purposely not responded to this until I had a couple of weeks and a few hundred miles on it to reply. I can honestly say the difference is rather big in my opinion. After ~250 miles of commuting daily I will say the seat is MUCH more comfortable than before. It took me a couple days to get used to it. Added height and a different feel for sure, I find I can actually move around on the seat easier now, and the pad (surprisingly, I might add) stays right in place when I do this. I was worried it may move about, but the strap actually holds it quite well. It's cooler in the summer heat, too. Seems counter to what you'd expect, but the wool traps air, which helps keep your butt cooler. Needless to say it's far more cushy on top of the stock seat, and although I have not run over 100 miles in one stint yet, my butt tells me this will be very good on long days with 300+ miles in the saddle. Highly recommended.
  2. Well y'all inspired me to finally pull mine off. Doesn't hurt as our heat index lately has stayed in the triple digits, I could use some more air anyway.Aaaaaand it's AWESOME. OMG why did I wait two whole years to try this?!? Airflow is amazingly good, wind hits me mid-torso and clean, undisturbed air over the helmet with no noisy buffeting at all. THIS is glorious for summer riding. Back to my naked bike roots!
  3. I did the same thing this weekend, and was amused to confirm the same results over the course of 100 miles or so. I ran it up to somewhere near 110, and it actually felt more stable than it does with the stock screen. It's amazing that Yamaha managed to engineer a windscreen that consistently performs worse than nothing at all. Well y'all inspired me to finally pull mine off. Doesn't hurt as our heat index lately has stayed in the triple digits, I could use some more air anyway.
  4. I installed my sheepskin buttpad from Alaska Leather. Charcoal grey, sheared. I am very happy to have this on my seat now and looking forward to putting a few hundred miles on it this weekend to see how much of an improvement this will be.
  5. Good news; Talked to the service dept. at the dealership, and was told my parts arrived today and a tech was assigned to complete the recall work. I get to pick my trusty steed up tomorrow! Just in time for the weekend & holiday. 8-) EffJay Niner back in the garage tonight.

  7. Finally got my dealer on the phone this morning, so I dropped the bike off for the safety recall on the handlebars. I'm hoping they get this done soon, but based on previous experience with these clowns, I'm not gonna hold my breath.
  8. I managed to muster at the crack of dawn and got the FJ-09 to my local State Inspection station this morning when they opened at 0730. I was rewarded for early rising by getting in and out in 20 minutes, probably a record time for this. I also realized my good fortune as I paid for it & was leaving, as there were ~20 customers piling into the place for services as I left. Home by 0800. Nice. Got the rest of the day to ride and do what I want now! 8-)
  9. I cleaned up a little of the Dragon grime from mine earlier. Got back from Deal's Gap this weekend after a full week in the Smokies. Had a blast putting nearly 1,000 miles on the odo while I was there. Interestingly enough, last week was a bad BAD week for my buddies that were the Triumph riders in our group. 4 mechanical failures on Triumphs in total all week. 1 Sprint ST blew it's motor out on the Cherahola Skyway. 1 Tiger broke it's internal shift rod not far from the Sprint in TN. 1 Street Triple died from electrical gremlins (ignition cylinder went bad) and another Tiger shat it's rear wheel bearings on the guy's way home. Made me feel pretty good about my Yammer.
  10. Fresh oil & filter, thorough cleaning, and topped off the gas tank with 92 Supreme. Cleaned & lubed the chain. She's ready for the trip to Deal's Gap again... 14 days and counting!!
  11. So far this has been one of my favorite cheap mods. It's amazing how much comfort and vibration reduction you can get from that little rubber pad on there.
  12. BOOM!!! This is exactly why I've been such a fan of Michelin Pilot Roads for years.
  13. Beautiful exhaust... didn't realise pornography was allowed on here.
  14. Never went north of Powhatan on Sunday, just went rambling on my local back roads burning 93 octane for no good reason. I rarely go north of Richmond / I-64 because traffic up there suuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuucks and I prefer riding versus sitting, etc. We'll meet up one of these days, preferably when you get south of I-64 heh hehe.
  15. Sorry to hear, that phpaul. It's a gorgeous 73 degrees and sunny here in Virginia today, I took her out for another ~100 miles jaunt today and enjoyed some fresh air & clean roads. So odd for being February!! Next week we could have snow again. But I'll take it!
  16. Very nice. I ran PR2's on my SV a few years ago, I loved them. Excellent grip rain or shine, and I got 8-9k miles+ out of the rears easily. Very well behaved tire with no unusual or unpredictable habits.
  17. They look like a pretty good quality product.... they better be for $385!!! PIAA is top-notch kit. Good friend of mine rocking PIAAs on his SV. I expect rave reviews.
  18. I've ridden on a lot of plugged tires and never one failure.
  19. You may have discovered why only my rear wheel is taped now.
