  1. I 'beaked' it. First truly 'bling' only farkle ever. I like it. No pics as I am lazy, tired, and just chilling with a beer tonight.
  2. My $21 beak arrived today. I installed it tonight. Total time was about 10 minutes. It comes with extra hardware needed to mount. Mine came with absolutely no instructions whatsoever. Not a big deal, as I'm pretty handy and the install is really simple and straightforward. As other stated the spacers seemed completely unnecessary so I did not use them. The new clips and bolts were needed though, as were the 2 sheet metal screws and washers. Again, as others mentioned I added some fat sheet metal washers under the big hex bolts to secure the beak against the rubber grommet in the rear mounting holes. If I didn't have to go digging through my giant coffee can of spare nuts/bolts/washers install time would have been 5 minutes. Sorry no pics for you yet, but it looks great and I'm very happy. At the price point, I can't complain too much. This is the first real bling-only farkle I've put on my FJ since I bought her in '15. I have a lot of farkles, too... So this one was purely about cosmetics, and I really like it. It just completes the look of the bike, and gives it a really nice "ADVenturey" look that is quite fitting to it. Very happy! If I can get off my lazy arse tonight and snap a pic I'll post it later. But for now just look at other people's pics and enjoy, I worked way too many hours this week and just need to sit a while and chill with a brewski.
  3. Swanky! Rizoma makes beautiful stuff. Good pics, too... clearances are uber-tight, no joke.
  4. I'm bumping this post up since I finally ordered mine off e-Bay. Prices are MUCH more cheapskate-friendly. $20.99 and free shipping. I can handle that price point for a piece of ABS plastic. El linko for anyone interested:
  5. I finally pulled the trigger and ordered one for mine. $21 USD. FREE shipping, so what the heck. I love how it looks, like it completes the front of the bike.
  6. After a long, long winter I finally managed to get mine out for a commute to work today. I'd nearly forgotten how magical the sound of that Black Widow carbon can was. Ahh, spring!
  7. Cool man, I shouldn't be hard to spot, Stealth Grey FJ-09 with a fat bald man on top. Say hi when ya see me, I'd be happy to chat.
  8. We've got our cabins booked again in Fontana for the first week of June. Can't wait.
  9. I rode mine briefly after it's been sitting on the Battery Tender for weeks & weeks. Went to top off the fuel & added Sta-Bil. When I went to start it back up at the fuel pump, the battery gave up the ghost and my Yuasa YTZ10S went to be with battery Jesus. 😣 Fortunately my wife was less than 10 minutes away with the jump box, and came to the rescue. I rode it straight home, parked it & ordered an AGM replcement from BatterySharks. $35 including shipping isn't terrible. I kinda knew it was coming, I mean 4 years for a compact OEM Pb acid battery is pretty good, given the short life a lot of FJ-ers have seen. I always kept mine on the Battery Tender when not riding. Just bummed it didn't go a bit farther...
  10. Aye, I really need to upgrade this winter. I have the '15 OG POS prone to breakage, I'm way overdue.
  11. I've been quite pleased with my Nitron. It's not as sexy as some of the others out there, but it's outstanding in functionality. Which is really all I wanted.
  12. Trambo’s call. Winner. Nice Pete. Well done!
  13. Cool. Hmmm... let's see. I'm an operations manager for a big trucking company... So let's see your FJ-09 / MT-09 / Tracer in a shot featuring a tractor-trailer.
  14. Hardywood Brewery in Richmond, VA. Great beer. Try the Gingerbread Stout. Work for y'all?
  15. Now this is more like my problem. I'm hard on rear tires, I'm not a small guy so I'm sure that doesn't help.
  16. I'm at 7,000 and also in need of a new chain. It was lubed every 500 miles, too. Gadzooks. Not sure what y'all doing to your chains. 10K on mine and still measures/specs/looks like new.
  17. "Speed governor"... LOL Wut's that? Oops... 2WDW disabled removed stole mine months ago. Darn it. 8-)
  18. Based on my personal experience, you’re spot on with this belief. I wrote the following in this thread back in June, after having removed the hand guards from my FJ: “One thing that is absolutely noticeable is a change in high speed stability. From the day it was new, my bike had a minor low frequency oscillation - I would never have called it a speed wobble - at speeds around 110 - 115 mph (professional rider, closed course, don’t try this at home, blah, blah, blah...). The new suspension muted it significantly, but it was still definitely there... not dangerous, not troubling, but noticeable. In the back of my mind, I always thought it was likely an aero issue, presumably since I have the saddle bags on the bike 100% of the time. Well, I can happily report that removing the factory handguards completely cleared up the oscillation issue. I covered over a mile yesterday laid out on the speed governor (don’t judge me) with zero stability concerns. Who would have guessed?“ I'm over here, judging you SO HARD right now. (rofl) We need to hang out. LOL
