  1. I’ve ran them for 30k miles. The wheels balance fine and checking and adding air are much easier. I've also run a collective 40K miles with them, and had zero issues. Anything that makes checking air pressure easier is a bonus for safety.
  2. I really like the look of the beak on our FJ's, I just really dislike the price.
  3. Today I put the side cases back on, cleaned her up and removed a little more rubber. Every day I own this motorcycle, I love it a little bit more.
  4. Yeah, I went to purchase some shop supplies for my bike yesterday (oil filter/brake fluid/crush washers) and the GT was right in front of the main entrance. You couldn't get into the dealership without walking right by it. I didn't ask the price either.........What's that old saying? "If you have to ask..." LOL
  5. Simple, put them in your vise and run a reamer into the hole. Or go oversize, press in an oil-lite and then ream to size. What, you guys don't all have a machine shop in your garden shed? Nooo... But I know a guy, not too far north of me...
  6. <-- Ebay lever owner, no issues or complaints. (Guess my FJ is gonna assplode now)
  7. Empirical evidence suggests you’re absolutely right. If you scroll back a few pages in this thread, you’ll find this comment of mine from June 9th of initial observations after removing the batwing handguards: “One thing that is absolutely noticeable is a change in high speed stability. From the day it was new, my bike had a minor low frequency oscillation - I would never have called it a speed wobble - at speeds around 110 - 115 mph (professional rider, closed course, don’t try this at home, blah, blah, blah...). The new suspension muted it significantly, but it was still definitely there... not dangerous, not troubling, but noticeable. In the back of my mind, I always thought with was likely an aero issue, presumably since I have the saddle bags on the bike 100% of the time. Well, I can happily report that removing the factory handguards completely cleared up the oscillation issue. I covered over a mile yesterday laid out on the speed governor (don’t judge me) with zero stability concerns. Who would have guessed?” I also agree. I removed the 'donkey ears' 2 years ago, and haven't looked back. No more head shake or creepy stability wobble at highway speeds. I installed FZ-09 bar-ends as well. Direct fit, no fuss, cheap & effective.
  8. Well done!! Just what I was hoping to see.
  9. Alrighty then. I'm a big fan of Guy Fieri's show Diners, Drive-Ins and Dives... Let's see your FJ sitting in front of a Diner, Drive-In or Dive... Fast food, chain restaurants and the sort DO NOT count. The more interesting, the better! Bonus points if it's a place he's been on the DDD show!
  10. Here's a very interesting sculpture: This is at the Tail of the Dragon, US-129 in Deal's Gap, NC. I guess I get to pick next, if this works?
  11. Talk about an ECLECTIC group of bikes... FJ-09 BMW S1000 XR KTM Super Duke SV-650 Triumph Tiger 900 Triumph Street Twin Triumph Street Triple Aprilia RSV4 Wherever the group went, we drew a lot of attention! LOL
  12. As you can see in the last pic, I tripped 10,000 miles on the Cherahola Skyway Friday. At the Santeetlah overlook, 5,300 feet high. This was absolutely contrived, as I wanted my 10K mark to be in one of my absolute favorite places on earth, which this location is. SO beautiful up there, over a mile high...
  13. Funny how a lot of SVers have moved on to FJ-09s.
  14. No kidding? Did you ever go to the SV Rally? What was your old screen name on SVR?
  15. I seen a gray FJ there a couple times, I bet that was yours. I was there Monday through Friday on a red one. Though for two days I mixed it up and rode rented bikes. I rented a dual sport and did the dirt Cherahola and Street Triple and had a ball. I've always wanted to ride a Street through there, figuring it was like my old SV on steroids. It was a hoot! Yup, that was me. I saw you on the Cherahola one day, was wondering if the rider was on the forum here. Cool!
  16. Oil & filter changed, cleaned & lubed the chain and got her ready for the trip to Deal's Gap in 6 days.
  17. I'm impressed. That turned out great! The color combo is really good. Well done.
  18. It’s an hour from the house and there’s not a more beautiful place that I know of in the springtime. I spent a lot of time as a boy in Tellico. This thread has been an inspiration to me so far. Now..... Get out there and ride your FJ. Go see something. By golly. When I posted my challenge, take a wild guess as to which waterfall I had in my brain...?? Well done, good sir. Well done. PS... I'll be down there in ~3 weeks.... Happy to meet up @ DGMR / CRoT one day to chat.
  19. Next request: I like waterfalls. Who can dig up a shot of their FJ-09 near a waterfall?
