  1. How do you perform the suspension calibration test?
  2. I bought my T9GT last July. It was in the shop from August through January waiting for new throttle bodies. I am now experiencing a flat spot in the powerband that I'm hoping the reflash will take care of. I am also getting a pulsation from the front during light braking when coming to a stop. This particular bike has been a POS from almost day one. If nothing else it has made me aware of how bad Yamaha Corporate really is. As soon as I find something else I want, perhaps a Kawasaki 1000 Ninja SX, this thing will be gone.
  3. The limited top speed was 115, not 110 as stated. I know this to be true because I verified it first hand. I had my ECU reflashed and the limiter was removed but the bike COULD become unstable at higher speeds therefore I rarely exceeded 100 on her. Some days she would be fine other days not so much. My theory was the Shad 36's I had on her were affected by the wind which would lead to the high speed wooble. I now ride a Tracer 9 GT that is very stable at any speed. I will say I found my FJ09 to be more fun.
  4. I have for sale a Kev's O2 Controller that came off my 2015 FJ09. I also have the installation instructions. This device is to help with the throttle response. It does improve the bike just not up to the point reflashing the ECU does. If interested make me an offer. I will respond ASAP.
  5. I just installed a Madstad 24" on my Tracer 9 GT and couldn't be happier. It totally transforms the bike. I'm not quite 6'1" and went by Madstads height chart. I may decide to try a 26". I had a 26" Parabellum on my FJ09 and it was perfect. I'm just curious if the 26" Madstad can be any better. I HIGHLY recommend this windscreen for our bike. The quality of their product is excellent. I even got a tour of their facility.
  6. My 2015 FJ09 was 40k+ miles without a single issue as were all my previous bikes. I guess I was due. I'm also waiting for their supply chain to start flowing. I want a heated comfort seat and inner bags. I am using the old bags from my Shad 36 side cases. They fit but not very well. Fingers crossed for all of us.
  7. Hey KK, thanks for your response. I had a little over 2K miles on my bike when the issues started. The bike was not quite 6 weeks old. It's funny you mentioned loose fasteners, I walked out to hop on mine one morning right after I got it and my right handguard was hanging down with all the fastening hardware gone. It took quite a while for those simple parts to get here. As a matter of fact that was finally fixed while waiting for my throttle bodies. In reference to the customer service, I'm always very pleasant when speaking to people on the phone up until the point when it's time not to be so nice. I don't like being lied to and unfortunately I caught their reps in several lies during my dealings with them. Just like when they're telling people they've never heard of the throttle issues before. I've also owned many bikes before and have found the Yamahas to be the most trouble free. My past Yams include a 1973 CT3 175 Enduro, a 1975 DT 400B Enduro, a 1980 XJ650 Maxim, a truly great bike, 2 1982 920 Viragos, the first one was stolen, a 2015 FJ09 and now my 2021 Tracer 9GT. My plan is to end up on a Goldwing if I live long enough. Ride safe!
  8. My bike was fixed in late January. My wife and I were in Florida up until last night so I don't have it yet. I will be picking my bike up from the dealer sometime next week when we get a decent day temp wise. The dealer has ridden the bike over 170 miles with no issues and they believe the problem is solved. Only time will tell. I totally agree with you concerning Yamaha's corporate customer service. As I stated before it sucks. What they have done is extended my warranty by the time my bike was down, almost 6 months. Based on a call made to them complaining about my experience they also issued me a coupon for $250 that can only be used through the dealer. I had asked for either a comfort seat or a touring screen but the $250 was what I got. Unfortunately nothing I want is available yet and Yamaha has no idea when it will be (per them). This will be my last Yamaha as of right now.
  9. I feel your pain buddy. I'm keeping my fingers that my parts will finally be here by this Friday, the 19th. Apparently it's a bad time to need parts, especially throttle body assemblies.
  10. Hey there fire33, First of all thanks for letting me know, your reply is greatly appreciated. I'm glad to hear that replacing the throttle bodies has seemed to cure the problem. That's the parts the dealer was told to order by Yamaha, the parts I'm waiting for. It's gonna be a long 2 months. Luckily my dealer has lent me my old 2015 FJ09. You are now the third bike experiencing this problem. Makes me wonder how many more might be. It will be interesting to see if this becomes a recall. Thanks again!
  11. Hey Jonathan, sorry to hear about your issues. Looks like we're facing the exact same problems as I was also unable to access the settings menu once the problem occurred. My bike is in the dealer with unfortunately no parts available to fix it. I was told I'm looking at mid to late October at the earliest for the parts to come from Japan. The Yamaha Tech Line advised my dealer to replace the throttle bodies. You should call Yamaha and bitch them out but unfortunately it will do you no good. They have no regard for customer service. I tried to get the parts shipped in the quickest manner possible but they basically said screw you. Please let me know whatever you find out. Good luck!
  12. Thanks for the feedback. Right now I'm waiting for the dealer to get the proper dongle to read the error codes from the ECU. They told me they misplaced the one they had. Supposedly they'll have it by Tuesday then I'll know more. What you described sounds very familiar.
  13. Two days ago I'm out for a ride on my Tracer 9 GT. All of a sudden the throttle just stopped responding and the engine light comes on. I drifted to the side of the road and immediately checked the oil. No problem there. I started the bike but the check engine light was still on. I was able to ride about 100 yards and once again no throttle response. It was a Monday so I was unable to reach the dealer, they were closed. Luckily I was right by an old used car lot/garage who let me push the bike into their work bay until I could get it towed to the dealer the next day. They came and picked her up now I'm waiting to hear what is wrong. It should be noted that the week before they had the bike for its first service. She has less than 2k miles on her. I'm fairly certain the problem lies with all the electronics associated with the bike. Anybody else experience similar issues? Update, got the bike back after almost 2 weeks. They found a total of 3 error codes, P0638 (TPS related) 243 (ISC valve)and 245 (engine stall). The following is a quote from the dealer, "tightened female blade connection for the SCU fuse and inspected all other fuses. Tested throttle servo motor, tested wire harness between ECU and servo motor. Checked all associated connectors by unplugging and then making sure they were properly seated once plugged back in." The Yamaha Tech line says this could be an "anomaly" associated with the throttle position and use of the quick shifter and is unlikely to occur again. So there you have it, fingers crossed. Update 2, Well she's headed back to the dealer again for the same issue, a dead throttle. I picked her up last Friday and she failed me once again on Tuesday. I'm pretty disappointed in Yamaha right now. I no longer trust this bike and will looking for a new one before it gets me hurt. The dealer has been in contact with Yamaha. The plan is to replace the throttle bodies once they can obtain the parts. I will be getting loaner from the dealer once again. 01/10/2022 - Update 3, Still no bike since mid-August 2021. The parts were supposed to be here last week but were delayed due to weather. I'm hoping to have the bike back by next week. My dealer, Diamond Motor Sports in Dover Delaware has been great. Yamaha's customer service has simply sucked. Stay turned! 02/22/22 - Final Update I finally picked my bike up today. I had forgotten how great this bike really is. I thoroughly enjoyed my ride home. To compensate me for my troubles Yamaha issued me a $250 credit to be used through the dealer. Now the wait begins for the accessories to become available, the heated touring seat in particular. I will be ordering my 24" Madstad any day. Hopefully the replacement throttle bodies resolved the problem. If not you will be hearing about it. Thanks for all the input.
  14. Update on the above, yes, it was the TCS setting at 2 that was causing the hesitation. Once I changed it to 1 it is fine. Thanks for the heads-up. The vibration/buzzing is not felt through the bike, it's just heard, usually around 4k rpms. It is sporadic at worse and nothing I'm worried about. It will reveal itself eventually. Just got my first service done today. I had 1500 + on her along with my first tire puncture. I love replacing tires that don't need replacing. Currently running on a plug.
  15. I think you might be on to something, I bet that is exactly what it was. My previous bike was a 2015 FJ09 and that was basically wheely control. Thanks for the feedback. I'll drop it down to 1 and see if that stops it from happening.
  16. I now own the T9 GT. I previously had a 2015 FJ09 that I rode for over 5 years. The seat on the T9 is definitely higher than the previous gens. It is much improved over the previous models but still lots of room for improvement. I do plan on getting the heated comfort seat. I love the bike but I am having a few issues that need addressed at the breaking maintenance.
  17. I recently got the Tracer 9 GT. I'll start by saying it is a great bike. Right now I have a little over 1200 miles on her. I'm scheduled for my breaking maintenance on Aug 7th. I was wondering if anyone else has one and if so are you experiencing any vibration/ buzzing noises under light acceleration and if you have been noticing any flat spots under hard throttle. Several times now when I went to get on it the bike seems to hesitate momentarily before she takes off. Obviously I will address these issues at the dealer. Don't get me wrong, this is an awesome machine.
  18. I just picked up my new Tracer 9 GT last Saturday. While I still plan on replacing the screen it is no where as bad as the original that came on my 2015 FJ09. That was just obnoxious with the noise it created. I plan on contacting Parabellum for my new screen. Theirs was a wonderful improvement on my FJ.
  19. Mine was doing the same thing a few years ago. Once I replaced the Neutral Indicator it hasn't happened again. Cleaning the original did temporarily fix the issue but it didn't last long. The new part is cheap and easy to replace.
  20. I agree 100% about the drive line noises from the bike. I Changed to the 20/50 Yamalube and it did seem to be a bit quieter. I would love to see a driveshaft version of the FJ/Tracer.
  21. Hi Chris, I get zero buffeting behind the screen. Of course I get it from the side if the wind is hitting me that way. I really can't imagine a better wind screen for this bike. I've got over 30k on mine now and I too spend many hours at a time on the bike.
  22. I was wondering if anybody has attempted or succeeded in converting the FJ/Tracer from a chain drive to a belt driven machine. I have researched this but have yet to find any mention of a belt drive setup for the bike. I wish Yamaha would offer a shaft drive version.
  23. Coming up on 26k on my 2015. I just put on my third set of tires, Bridgestone Battlax T31, great tires. I'm on my second chain and sprokets and still on my original clutch cable. I am finding that my bike is getting buzzy. I'm hoping a throttle body sync will take care of that. I'm also concerned that my drive train is starting to whine more than normal, especially in 5th gear. I still love this bike.
