  1. What is the tail bag you have on there dedsxy47? Cheers Steve
  2. Well after 3K miles including some pretty rough roads on a trip to Wales (in all sorts of weather) the extender is still solid, so the stuff I used seems to have done the trick so far. https://www.ebay.co.uk/p/2-Evo-Stik-Strong-Stuff-Sealant-Filler-Grab-Adhesive-290ml-Cartridge-Clear/2069173131?iid=272467840254&chn=ps Cheers Steve
  3. Lovely scenery!....and of course, lovely bike!
  4. krucymucy, very nice job on the Tutoro install. Had one on my Triumph Sprint and it worked perfectly until it got stolen off of the bike whilst I was in Spain riding the Pyrenees. I've been meaning to get one for the GT900 but the installations I've seen so far (mainly using cable-ties) have been ugly. Your solution looks great, would you mind sharing the plans/ dimensions for the mounting bracket so that I can get one made-up? Cheers Steve
  5. Excellent, looks a good deal wider and taller. I'm hoping that you find that it solves the wind/ noise issue. Do tell! Cheers Steve
  6. How about a GT900 with one of the spare anchors from the Titanic in the background?
  7. Ah yes...I had forgotten about them. Cheers Steve
  8. Hi soonerstan56, No, you aren't being hosed by the Dealer. I have received the same 'tool kit' from Yamaha with my GT900. Obviously Yamaha expect nothing to go wrong with the bike that can't be instantly fixed with a helmet lock cable an a 12/14 spanner (wrench in the US). Cheers Steve
  9. Looks ok to me, especially if it cures the noisy/ dirty air problem. Many thanks for posting, certainly another option to consider. Cheers Steve
  10. gerdawg, have you got any pics of the MRA spoiler on the standard screen (would ne good to see how it looks). I've had the MRA vario screen on two of my past bikes and definitely feel that it made a difference. I thought that Vic's MRA screen (without the lip) looked excellent and gave the bike a much sportier look. However, I suspect that the way it slopes backwards means that it isn't going to solve the screen issue, adding (or getting the version with the lip) might. Cheers Steve
  11. Hi Vic, Great to meet you, the MRA screen really changes the look of the GT900, a much sportier look (shame it only improves the 'screen issue' rather than cures it). I look forward to seeing you again soon.. Cheers Steve
  12. Let's hope so Vic, plan B if we can't get in is Baldock Services I've sent you my mobile number by private message for comms See you later Steve
  13. Funny you should say that.........after a bird strike took out the screen of my GT900 a couple of hours after picking it up from the dealership (yes really) I found riding the GT900 without a screen was better than with the OEM screen up to about 40-50mph. Cheers Steve
  14. No, Gorilla Glue wasn't considered. It isn't a well known brand in the UK. Cheers Steve
  15. Hi peripateticmike, No, unfortunately it isn't any better for shorter riders :'( and the FJ09 screens will not fit the GT900. (According to my local Yamaha dealership). You are right in that not many companies are producing aftermarket screens (or any other products) for the GT900 yet as it is only just coming to market in some Counties so they haven't had bikes to do R&D on. Guess we'll just have to be patient. All I can tell you from personal experience is that FJ09 rear huggers won't fit the GT900 but front fender extenders will (identical front mudguard between the two models). I'm looking forward to seeing Vic's MRA screen 'in the flesh' on Saturday, but will probably wait until the Puig one comes out to compare before I pull the trigger. Enjoy your GT900, ride safe (and with earplugs until you get a new screen) Cheers Steve
  16. Well....... Did some research into this and as usual found lots and lots of conflicting advice on various motorcycle forums and groups. I was going to use epoxy but a quick look at what I had in the garage and what was available in local stores seemed to suggest that this wasn't the best thing to use (all said that they were great on ceramics, metal, wood etc. but only on 'some' plastics and not knowing what plastic the extender was made of I didn't want to take the chance.) Again from looking on-line and reading people's experiences I ruled out the 'super-glue' type of products as it seems it only works well on suitable plastics and many people had, had failures which were put down to it being 'rigid' and being shaken apart after a while by vibrations. Then started coming across success stories using a product called 'Tiger glue' which seems to be an adhesive/ filler type product (whilst acting as an adhesive it never fully hardens, so can take the vibrations). In the UK it is marketed as UPol Tiger Seal Polyurethane Adhesive Sealent. So that is what I used and so far it seems to have done the trick. Cheers Steve
  17. Those engine bars look great, do you have a 'wider' photo so we can see what they look like on the bike (if you know what I mean) Cheers Steve
  18. Hi All, Recently fitted an R&G mudguard extender to the GT900.....I didn't like the look of the black plastic rivets on the blue mudguard so I chose to glue instead. Cheers Steve
  19. Excellent Vic, I shall look forward to meeting you. Anyone else who is local, please feel free to join us. Cheers Steve
  20. Hi Vic, Baldock Services would be fine, although if you feel like meeting for a brekkie then may I suggest the cafe at Old Warden Aerodrome? (About the same distance from you). I'm about this coming Sat morning if you are free? Cheers Steve
  21. Vic, Now we HAVE to meet up! I really, really, want to see how the new screen looks/ works before I take the plunge! We'll have to find a mid point between Luton and wherever it is you are on Cambs (I can't remember) Cheers Steve
  22. Many thanks for posting you initial thoughts on the MRA screen, and especially the photo showing the size difference. Apologies if I've missed it in an earlier post but what height are you? I'm short, so would be interested to know your height (probably taller than me at 5'7") and if so if you 'scootch down' to my height does it improve the wind buffeting situation? Cheers Steve
  23. The cafe at Old Warden Aerodrome is a good meeting place and serves a good breakfast (and is discounted at certain times of the year as a 'Bikers Special'. Lots of parking on level tarmac and quite popular with bikers and petrolheads alike, with the added bonus of the Swiss Gardens, The Aeroplane Colletion etc if you want to take a look around. 24. Another GT900 owner joining the search for an improved screen here...... Really looking forward to any information on the MRA screen when it arrives as I've used their screens in the past. Here in the UK one of my local shops told me that Puig, are still developing their screen, but it should be available next month (August 18). I couldn't see an appropriate 'Board' to post on, but could we have a GT900 sub board please Moderators? As many have said as this is a new model manufacturers haven't yet launched their aftermarket goodies yet. I know that there are quite a few GT900 owners who would love to share new/ reviews on GT900 accessories as they become available. Please can we have a new sub section for the GT900? The only aftermarket I have fitted is the R&G front fender extender (as the mudguard has the same profile as the previous FJ09 models). Cheers Steve
