  1. Congrats, Wordsmith! Been a long time coming, eh? Glad you have it now!
  2. Duckets have been sent, Rob! Thanks for all the effort!
  3. Kemmotar, that is indeed the older Alu-Rack from SW-Motech. When I bought it from Twisted Throttle, it was listed as fitting the 2017 FJ-09, so I took a chance and ordered it (there was nothing listed for the 900 GT at the time). Hardware, rails and rack fit just fine EXCEPT . . . the mounting tabs that bolt under the seat are aligned 90 degrees to the bike's centerline as opposed to aligning to the GT's factory-angled cutouts in the plastic side panels. I trimmed the factory cutouts with a utility knife to make the fit-up and never looked back. I bolted up the Monokey adapter plate, installed my V46, then ordered and installed my 30L Dolomiti top box. Been running that ever since. The rails and rack are very robust and fit my commuting needs to a tee. This is what works for me. Obviously, YMMV. Best of luck.
  4. Late to the party, Jeff . . . WELCOME!! 8-)
  5. SS56, I also have the Givi Monokey plate and a Givi 30L Dolomiti aluminum case mounted on a SW-Motech rack vice a Yamaha rack. No problems with install, height or utility. My 2 cents...
  6. MPH, that is. Was a little curious about the spread between the two, so I threw on my Zumo 550 and went for a long ride today. Turns out, there was only a 1-2 mile spread between actual and indicated speed, at least according to my Zumo. I was pleasantly surprised, only because I'm used to seeing as much as a 5-6 mph difference on my little V-Strom, depending on the roadway speeds at the time. The GT's small deviation is the most consistent I've seen between all the bikes I've owned, even my old FJR. The FJR was my first-ever Yamaha back in 2013, but I gotta say I really like this GT! I think I could easily go whole-hog Yamaha... And I CONSISTENTLY get that silly-ass grin on my face every time I crack the GT's throttle!
  7. I ditched my handguards and installed FZ1 bar ends. Also have some frame sliders en route from Higdonion.com.
  8. There's nothing tidy about that baby, Dfriz! That's Yamaha's new "Buffalo Butt Mass Enhancer!" It's so big it can't get out of its own way! (rofl)
  9. Edit: Fixed the links...sorry for the trouble. Got the fork light and fork brackets from Rigid. The light is an Amber SR-Q Pro driving light. These are the fork brackets, aka bar clamps. Made a simple shelf out of 1/8"x 2" aluminum flat stock to span between them. Used the harness that came with the light and a waterproof switch that came from Hyperlites.com (which apparently they no longer offer, for some strange reason). Wired the harness and relay into my PC8 fuse block that's under my seat and mounted the switch on the left handlebar. Aimed the light 3 degrees down from level. Works very well in the wee hours of my commute into DC from rural Southern MD. Also works very well as a "see me" light during the daytime commute home. Got the amber to cut through early morning fog and mist, in addition to running it during the day to keep the evil cager spirits away, too. Got the lower fork leds from Twisted Throttle. They're 1st Gen Denali DM single intensity white spots, also wired through my PC8 fuse block and aimed 3 degrees down from level. They're also on full-time for conspicuity, early morning critter spotting and daytime evil cagers. Current draw is very, very low and efficient, and output is quite significant. I've had the other Denali DM1s and DMs on my last 4 bikes since Twisted Throttle came out with them. They're not cheap, and that's okay by me. They work extremely well and are very rugged. Just my 2 cents.
  10. Couldn't find a solution using Search, so here I am. It's a minor issue, but still a little annoying. The mounting threads and stalks aren't the issue...it's the first pivot knuckle below the mirror housing that slowly rotates downward after rolling over the usual bumps and moguls on my DC commute. Can't find a way to tighten the knuckle itself. Thinking about running a small bead of SuperGlue on that knuckle to prevent the mirror housing from rotating. Anyone else have this problem? If so, how did you resolve it? Thanks for your time.
  11. Ice cream break under the pines on a hot day (for me, not the GT).
  12. Bahahaha!! Outstanding, Krillz! Glad your baby finally came home!!
  13. Fire up that box and let's see what it can do, Krillz!! Congrats on its arrival! I know you've been outta your mind with anticipation. Looking forward to hearing and seeing more about it from you!
  14. "Tossed on some new LEDs the other day, they don't look too bad! My brother did comment they are harder to see but I'm not surprised as my LED flashing brake lights could cause a seizure." I see you also like the Whelen TIR3s, eh Gerdawg? They're great little lights!
  15. That is a V46, Azokie (and it came off my 2013 FJR before I traded it in for the GT). It's mounted to a Givi adapter plate that's mounted to the SW-Motech Alu-Rack and frame. Replaced the OEM grab rails with the Motech frame and Alu-Rack when I got the bike. Being a 120-mile round-trip commuter, a top box is much more practical for me as opposed to side cases. Got the SW-Motech frame, Alu-Rack and adapter plate from TwistedThrottle.com. Take note, though . . . the topbox frame, Alu-Rack and Givi adapter plate are listed under the FJ-09 '15-'17, not the 900GT. Also, please read my Aug 03 reply to your initial post re: this subject. It'll describe the minor fitting i.e., trimming a small amount of plastic from the OEM side covers, that fitting the SW-Motech mounting tabs to the bike's bolt holes entails. This pic shows the tabs on the left and right sides of the underseat tray, and the Gorilla tape I used to close up the trimmed tab areas after installation. This is a pic of the Alu-Rack with the SW-Motech-specific Givi adapter plate bolted to the Alu-Rack. Hope this helps.
  16. A couple of pics of the new GT. It shares space with my little V-Strom DL650. I am really liking this Tracer!
  17. Keep the faith, Krillz! It'll happen! I can almost see it now...
