  1. I'm up for it, hopefully before the winter hits.
  2. Road would you like to try my CALSCi? I've had the tall on now for a few weeks with the cooler weather and I'm really liking it. The first time I ride with it I thought it was choppy but I'm thinking it might have just been a really windy day. It's pretty good for the price.
  3. I have the short and the tall from them...not bad products at all.
  4. I didn't notice an XL screen offering and honestly I think if it were offered I probably wouldn't want it as then I'd most certainly be looking through the screen rather than over it. Right now the screen is about 1/2" below eye level in the extended position.
  5. My body specs are as follows, 5'11" with a 29" inseam. So I fitted the CalSCI large screen on the Tracer last night and took it out for a ride this morning on my way into work. I'm somewhat glad that I fitted the tall screen as this morning's ride was weirdly a bit chilly. Without the tall screen on I probably would have sought my jacket liner. If some of you recall my ride into work is about 40 miles of highway with about 20 miles of backroads. My impressions so far are as follows. The first thing I noticed after mounting the windshield is that my mirrors hit and needed to be adjusted. I had the stalks slightly moved forward to give a bit better clearance behind me. I had to place the stalks about 1/2" backward and readjust the mirrors and they seem to be just as good for my body type. In the down position of the TracerGT the CALSCI is just a little less noisy than stock when the stock is fully extended. The turbulence isn't all that better either in comparison to stock. When placing the CALSCI in the upward position the noise is nearly non-existent. There is some turbulence present, however it is not horrible and today was an extraordinarily windy day in comparison to most normal days. Typically I ride around 80mph on the highway and that's when the turbulence is noticeable. Around 65 or so things are pretty relaxed and smooth. In fairness I have a Bell helmet that wasn't all that expensive so that could also be the cause of some of the turbulence....I doubt they did much aerodynamic testing to ensure that it was as smooth and as quiet as possible for the 200 dollar affixed price tag attached. With that said, overall I believe the tall screen offers a ton more protection than the stock screen and even the OEM touring screen. It's again IMO not perfect but that could be helmet related, it is however very tolerable. It'll be interesting to see how the TracerGT windshield mount holds up over time with such a large screen attached. I did notice on the highway that there was quite a bit of movement of the screen at speed. All in all I think CalSCI did a great job on the screen. I am curious to see if taking out the center cut hole helps or hurts the situation. That'll be my next test that I'm going to attempt to determine using some masking tape. I have a feeling that it might actually help turbulence at speed in my specific instance. Attached are some pictures of the setup.
  6. My thoughts exactly, I'm hoping that the Puig screen is as effective 'cos it certainly looks a lot better (can't wait 'til the end of September when I can get my hands on one). Cheers Steve Personally I think the CalSCI looks better than the puig screen. JMHO. Not like either of them will win a beauty contest though . I'm putting up my review of the tall CalSCI in a moment.
  7. I have the shorty installed and was able to take a good ride into work today. My trip consists of a bunch of local roads followed by about 40 miles on the highway. I'll start by stating I wasn't expecting that things would be "less" noisy with the short screen. It wasn't my intent to cure the noise with this screen. My intent was to cut back on the turbulence that I find very present and very annoying with the stock screen, in any position. With the CalSCI I can state that the turbulence is solved for me in the down position and with the screen in the upward position. For a long time I was riding without the screen on the bike at all and when riding on the highway it felt as if I was windsail, ready to be blown off. The short screen was a welcome change. Is it perfect, no AND I don't believe on this bike there will be a perfect screen at such a short size that it will completely eliminate noise, it's just not possible. It did however clean up a bunch of air that hits my helmet violently and along with the looks, I believe it does a great job for the function that I bought it and intended to use it for, clean air and lots of wind through my jacket in the hotter months. My next review will be of the tall screen after I get home tonight and bolt that up to the bike. That one I am hoping WILL eliminate noise. Here's some pictures of the shorty for reference. Stay tuned to my eval of the tall screen that I should hopefully get posted tomorrow morning if the weather holds.
  8. So I mounted the shorty last night, looks nice, nothing too crazy in regards to design and I think it will do the job very nicely. Time will tell......well as long as it stops raining long enough for me to ride my bike to work. I'm getting tired of all this rain, where the heck did summer go?!
  9. Mark - I'll be getting both of mine on Tuesday! Can't wait! Thanks for having them out so fast. I had CalSci on a few bikes and they've always been exceptional. More than anything you guys have always stood behind your products so I'm very eager to see what awaits!
  10. Congrats! I had about the same trip but I was about 40 miles from the dealer. Took quite a few backroads to get home LOL.
  11. Thanks, I'm looking forward to them too! Are you by chance near PA? If so feel free to drop by and see what you think for yourself!
  12. Well that sucks . On a happier note I just received notification that my CALSCI screen shipped. I should have a review on the shorty and tall in the near future!
  13. Lol that does count and it's pretty epic!
  14. I posted one in this thread already and compared it to the stock a few threads back.
  15. tossed on some new LEDs the other day, they don't look too bad! My brother did comment they are harder to see but I'm not surprised as my LED flashing brake lights could cause a seizure. Here is a strobe effect movie: [video size=medium" src="
  16. Just put my order in for a "shorty tinted" and "large" Windshield from CALSCI...wish me luck!!! I'm currently riding without a shield at all and frankly I like it better than stock so far.
  17. And if it were me and that started happening I'd start running down the list to isolate the problem and make it stop. If it wasn't there to begin with and now it is something loosened up or needs adjustment. I'd start with syncing the throttle bodies then work my way toward re-torquing the bars, shocks, exhaust, rear swing arm w/lubing, checking front and rear wheel bearing playing, look for play in the steering head bearing, replacing chain and sprockets last. Should be no reason that it can't be cured with the right amount of investigation. I bought the 900 because it's easy to work on in comparison to the FJR, maintenance on this beast should be a breeze in comparison to what I've had to do the FJR so when and if the buzzing does come along I'm fairly confident it can be solved.
  18. The seat needs updating IMO...it kinda sucks. Not the material but the angle of it. My 19 is a bit vibey, I just put FJR pegs on it but it wasn't a real concern of mine. I went about 5-6 hours on it the other day with stock pegs at all different speeds and vibrations, while there, really didn't bother me. More than anything it was the seat and the windshield that stuck out to me as lacking considerably. I also had it out on the highway yesterday after picking up my official registration plates from the dealer (Hour 30 away) and I purposely avoided the back roads for that hour and 30 just to see how the vibration would pan out....I felt fine. I changed the pegs over last night to rubber ones (10 bucks) and rode to work this morning and it does buzz less in my feet, more importantly I felt that my feet gripped the pegs better which is the desired affect that I was seeking, not vibration. So in my humble opinion the vibration is certainly not anything "I" consider as being "too much". I had an FJR prior to this and yes that was smooth as silk but this bikes fun factor is well worth a little more discomfort for the type of riding that I generally do. The reduction in weight is blissful. Conversely I had a 2009 Kawasaki Concours and after about 2 hours on it my left arm would go completely numb....that was supposed to be a very smooth inline 4. Different strokes for different folks I guess.
  19. I messed with it a little bit, I found in the low position was best with the MRA pointing outwards a little.
  20. Calsci knows their stuff and that comes out 27th. Think I'll be buying the shorty and tall to cover all my riding conditions.
  21. I was stating touring screen 180+MRA 170 for ctx version. Worked fine on stock screen but still wasn't where I'd like it to be. Would probably be perfect with touring screen but I'm not willing to Shell out that much for one screen.
  22. The MRA was the best so far with stock shield. Might have been great with touring but I'm not shelling out 400 bills just to try it. Rather get a shorty calsci and touring for 325. Can't wait till more aftermarket stuff comes out.
  23. I'm running now with no screen and it's better than both of shields. Might grab some lexan and have it laser cut just to make a good summer shield.
  24. Haven't had a chance to get it on the highway but will update as soon as I do. So far short jolts it doesn't seem like it solves the air hitting my helmet directly on. Time will tell. I may juts bit the bullet and buy some type of diverting shield to screw into it.
