  1. I'm 6'4" with a 32" inseam, and for my money the Madstad is as good as it gets. Adjustability as the seasons change, no add-ons needed, and it looks great....subjective opinion of course on the looks. Completely objective opinion on the functionality, it just works the way you want it to. Will post pics soon. O OK, got some pics, and will try to post here. This is the Madstad system. Don't know what I have to do to make them larger, GOOD help would be appreciated.
  2. This is the one I am going to try:Puig Touring screen with visor I'm 6'4" with a 32" inseam, and for my money the Madstad is as good as it gets. 3. I talked to Puig USA and they said the hand protectors are still in development, and they'll be available Nov/Dec. I'll definitely be buying a set when they are available. I think it does lose something with the superficial deflectors removed, but I honestly don't notice a huge difference, at least with those nasty silver screws blacked out.Did you ever consider these? http://www.ktmtwins.com/ktm-original-factory-handguards Doctore777 has pic of them installed on his bike. I have them on mine, and they look great and perform as they should. They are better than what I had on my V Strom, and I rode it all winter even into the teens with just winter gloves on and never got cold. 40 mile round trip commute.
  4. I just ordered a set on line and was told they would not be available again untol December 18 so I tried the local dealer which gave me the same 12-18 date. :-( You guys really ought to consider going to these....at least until December, when the Yamaha goods may or may not be available. http://www.aerostich.com/a-to-b-utilities/rider-comfort/grips-accessories/aerostich-warm-wrap-grips.html
  5. Are you referring to the horns or the compressor? Here is a previous post on this : http://fj-09.org/thread/323/stebel-nautilus-air-horn The horns mount where the stock horn did, had to fabricate an L bracket (Hillman Corner Brace, 1 1/2", Ace Hardware) to hang them. Used the stock bolt that held the factory horn. I also ran some zip ties through them, just in case. The hose that comes with the kit was short about a foot to locate the compressor under the seat bridge. I also used the "plug-and-play" relay kit from Twisted. Couldn't be more pleased!
  6. I have the Acerbis and the stock screen and they clear it with about 4 -5 cm I would guess I have the KTM guards with a Madstad screen, and no clearance issues whatsoever.
  7. Could this be it? These are great covers for about every application. http://www.pashnit.com/product/geza.html
  8. You might check these out on Amazon. Got them on mine, paired up with PIAA mounts and the SW-Motech crash bars. Mini Trail Lights OZ-USA LED CREE Spot Motorcycle Offroad Dual Sport Enduro Fog http://www.amazon.com/gp/product/B00HA14OK4/ref=pe_344980_141198220_em_1p_0_ti , http://www.amazon.com/s/ref=nb_sb_noss_2?url=search-alias%3Dautomotive&field-keywords=PIAA+light+mounts. Couldn't be happier, and the lights are real flamethrowers.
  9. Just happen to have one laying on the garage floor.....7 inches by 56mm id. Would give it to you all metric, but my mike doesn't go past 6 inches.
  10. I don't have the Steibel, rather the Denali SoundBomb Split Dual-Tone Air Horn from Twisted Throttle. http://www.twistedthrottle.com/denali-soundbomb-split-dual-tone-air-horn For an extra $27, you can get the plug-and-play harness with the relay. Great bang for the buck, and allows for remote location of the compressor. Got mine mounted under the seat in the unusable storage area under the saddle bridge. Horns mount up front for a clear blast pattern.
  11. I had one of Jims headlight kits on my DL1000 after I started having problems with it on a trip up to Alaska. The Denali horn kit is just as loud as the Steibel, but allows for mounting the horns separate from the compressor. I went through about a Steibel a year on the DL1000, hope that the remote locating of the compressor fixes that. If not, it will be an easy replacement.
  12. Big thumbs up on the PC-8, Jim Davis will/is producing a kit for the FJ-09. As far as the Steibel goes, Twisted Throttle has the Denali Sound Bomb. http://www.twistedthrottle.com/denali-soundbomb-split-dual-tone-air-horn Fitted one up on mine while the forks were off....not necessary to install, but very convienent. Went to Ace Hardware and got some 5/16 hose and a dual barb connector to get the compressor back to the under seat location. Works a treat!
  13. Just got a FirstGear Mesh Tex jacket from MotorcycleGear.com . It is a closeout, but the red goes just fine with my red FJ. They come in tall sizes also. The price is RIGHT! http://www.motorcyclegear.com/street/closeouts/mesh_jackets_and_pants/first_gear/mesh_tex_jacket_2013_red_or_blue_colors.html
  14. Could you pin it down a bit tighter, with say, a part number or a link? Would be most appreciated!
  15. 5. Remove the lower dog bone bolt and nut to ease installation (I could not get the lower shock bolt in until I did this as the swingarm is in the way). Read more: http://fj-09.org/thread/1826/penske-8983-fj-shock-replacement?page=1&scrollTo=19132#ixzz3ekBhaDBM A dumb question: How did you get the lower shock bolt out if you didn't remove the lower dog bone bolt for the removal of the shock? And what did you do with the big wad of tubes and the hard mounted mass that obscures the removal of the top bolt? And, many thanks for posting this "how -to" with pictures.
  16. Am also getting ready to do a Penske install-double clicker-Is it easier if you remove the rear wheel?
