1. Picky, picky.....I have an older one that has performed flawlessly. Never overheated and aired my rear tire up on the Dalton Highway in a driving rainstorm. I didn't care if it made noise or bounced around a bit just so long as it aired my tire up.....which it did. Couldn't be happier!
 2. I put one of these in in '15, a few months after I bought the bike. https://www.amazon.com/gp/product/B005FIUJ0S/ref=ppx_yo_dt_b_asin_title_o00_s00?ie=UTF8&psc=1 Have never experienced any trouble with it, and never had a charger on it. The bike has sat for up to 3 months without being started during the winter, and fired right up in spring. Less weight up high more room in the battery box are pluses.
 3. Another brand you might try is Heidenau. They ought to be just about perfect for the Dalton Dirtway. Motorcycle Tires - Dual-Sport, Adventure, Sport-Touring | TwistedThrottle.com ... There is a tire mounting service on the outskirts of Fairbanks that you can co-ordinate with and schedule your tire swap.
 4. Yep, I'm having trouble posting a "profile" pic. Seems all of my pics are 1+ mb, and the limit is .49 mb. The question remains "How do we shrink the photo to fit the .49 mb limit?"
 5. 2015 Lava Red....fast is controlled by the wrist, not the color.
 6. Not quite in the same category, but the riders I know in Arkansas swear by these: The Hornet Deer Whistle - Electronic Deer Avoidance System WWW.XP3HORNET.COM The Hornet deer whistle electronic deer avoidance system by XP3 Corporation is the ultimate deterrent against costly and deadly...
 7. I'm 6'4" with a 32" inseam, and I ride behind a 22" Madstad. Can't be beat! My FJ is set up as a sport-tourer, and I live in Oklahoma. It is quite windy here, and the Madstad navigate it all, including sidewinds. Performance is excellent as it does not completely block out the wind. You get enough to keep you cool on a hot summer day, and warm in the winter time.
 8. Has anyone on the forum tried these? Nolan N100-5 Helmets with Custom Integrated Bluetooth or Corded Headsets WWW.JMCORP.COM
 9. Are you referring to these SW-Motech bags? SW-MOTECH Blaze Sport Saddlebag System Yamaha FJ-09 '15-'17 | TwistedThrottle.com WWW.TWISTEDTHROTTLE.COM
Features:

1680 Ballistic Nylon construction

Lightweight aerodynamic design

YKK... If so, I highly recommend them. Easy on, easy off, aand you can also remove the brackets easily. i couple mine with A Ventura Mistral 1 system, that results in about 91 liters capacity. Plenty for touring. Mistral Bike-Pack | Ventura MCA WWW.VENTURA-MCA.COM The Mistral Pack is a 47l semi-hard moulded motorcycle bag that is part of the Ventura Bike-Pack System. Buy online now. I was shooting for a compact, light weight luggage system, and this combo works a treat.
 10. This is what I have on my '15 FJ-09. DENALI SoundBomb Split Dual-Tone Air Horn | TwistedThrottle.com WWW.TWISTEDTHROTTLE.COM
Features:

Sleek all black construction

Demands attention that significantly... Have had the Steible on other bikes, but they only lasted for about a year. They started buzzing as the compressor left town. The remote compressor on the Split is still working after 3 years. Water does the dammage on the integrated unit. Does it still sound OK?
 11. It's a bit spendy, but for my money, this kit will get you home and then some. Battle tested in a thunderstorm on the Dalton Highway. Plugging instructions are laminated plastic, so no worries in a rainstorm. Fits nicely in my Ventura Sport tailpack. And, no, I did that ride on a Suzuki DL1000 V-Strom, not the FJ. 12. If I'm going that far, I'm going to install TKC80s in Whitehorse. Why not give myself the best odds of making it?If it were me, I would put the TKC80s on in Fairbanks. There is a dude that runs an motorcycle tire shop in Fairbanks that you can order the tires through, and he mounts them when you get there. Sorry, I don't have the particulars on him, but he shouldn't be hard to find on the interweb. If you are set on swapping in Whitehorse, I would suggest the Heidenau K60 Scout.
 13. Just a wild ass guess, but I would say 4# per side for the SW Motechs.
 14. I like the SW Motech bars in combination with the Woodcraft case protectors. https://www.revzilla.com/parts/2015-yamaha-fj-09#page=1&sort=featured&limit=96&facets%5B%5D=524&facets%5B%5D=812&facets%5B%5D=1951&price=&price_min=1&price_max=1595&is_new=false&is_sale=false&is_made_in_usa=false&has_video=false&is_holiday=false&is_blemished=false A bit pricey, but cheap insurance in my opinion. And, they look great together.
 15. As far as splicing into the line, these are simple and good quality https://www.amazon.com/Posi-tap-Connector-16-18-Gauge-Wire/dp/B00389R8KU I would suggest tapping into the tail light hot wire, not the brake lights. I think it's only a black and white wire pair, and tap into white. Easy peasy.....good luck.
