  1. I just installed the adventuretech bracket with a pair of large, heavy lights, and I find they bounce quite a bit (probably 1/4" of deflection). Do you experience that with your light setup? I did have to modify the angle of the bracket to fit the 2019 Tracer, so I don't know if that had a significant impact, or if it was just designed for smaller lights.
  2. I've been busy on the Tracer this week. I got the MC Cruise and the Adventuretech light bar installed. The light bar for the FJ-09 took some modification to fit the Tracer. As it came from Adventuretech, it wouldn't fit. The tracer headlight surround sits lower than the FJ, so the front of the bar interfered with the plastics below the headlight. I needed about an inch of length or to change the angle of the bend: The bend in the bracket is about 65* (up from flat), and to clear the lower headlight plastics, I bent it to about 50*. Then I found that the headlight adjusting mechanism just barely interfered with the bracket, so I removed about 2mm of material in the offending spot: After these minor adjustments, it fit well. The bottom of the bracket is now angled, but that didn't cause any problems with light mounting. I forgot to grab a picture of the finished product last night. I mounted a set of VisionX Optimus spots with a Skene dimmer triggered by the high beam indicator wire with a negatively switched relay. I have a switch that I can use to switch between 10% and 40% brightness on the spots for normal use. They switch to 100% brightness when I hit the high beam switch. I am just about done for now with electrical add-ons. I still need to mount my front and rear cameras for the DVR/dashcam, but I am not-so-patiently waiting for the SW Motech rear rack to arrive for that. I'll also need to get a different windscreen, and I'm leaning toward the Madstad.
  3. For the engine and running gear, I use a foaming spray bottle with Simple Green (the purple one; the green can damage aluminum surfaces). Spray it on, let it soak a bit, and wipe it off with a clean rag. I have a stash of old t-shirts that I've cut up for jobs like this. For painted surfaces like bodywork, I use Pledge. It does a good job of cleaning and polishing all at once. I avoid any type of pressure washing, as that can lead to water getting past seals on bearings, chains, and into electrical connections where it can do damage.
  4. Last night I finished up the Fuzeblock install along with most of the wiring for accessories on the new Tracer 900. I added a battery tender plug, Heated gear controller, dash cam DVR, Skene dimmer and VisionX LEDs, and a dual USB Q3 port + volt meter on the right side of the dash. I'm still waiting on an Adventuretech light bar to finish the LED installation. I was surprised at how much room is available under the plastics on the Tracer. It seems to have more space than than my FJR does for running wires. Overall underseat space is not as much, but I also don't have the big vacuum controller and servo motor for the MCCruise that took up so much space on the FJR...
  5. Welcome! I also moved from an FJR to the Tracer. I wanted something a bit (around 200 lbs!) lighter that could still tour well. I have the MCCruise on the way from OZ. I had one on the FJR, and I won't have a touring bike without it. Fortunately, the Tracer install is sooo much easier with throttle-by-wire -- no vacuum system or servos to worry about. I am debating on changing the color with some vinyl, because I am not in love with the grey. When I'm riding, the color doesn't bother me at all!
  6. Yes, that engine sounds amazing with a good pipe on it. I test rode one on the same day I rode the Tracer GT. I loved the MT-10, but knew that owning one would lead to me making bad decisions and potentially losing my license. Everything is turned to 11 on that beast!
  7. I'm about to pull the trigger on a Madstad for my Tracer. How stable is the GPS mounted up there? Any significant vibration or shaking while riding?
  8. Well, the dealer on the other side of town was willing to deal. Not quite the low numbers I've seen a few states away, but I would have to spend $ to get the bike here. I signed the paperwork on a 2019 Tracer 900. I left the bike at the dealer, as I was on my FJR. I'll pick it up this weekend after the incoming storm clears out. I may end up wrapping the gray with another color, but it's grown on me a bit. It was amazing to me to see the 17 and the 19 side by side yesterday, comparing the little details. The 19 looks much more "finished" to me. That's what pushed me toward the 19 over the 17.
  9. Well, I went to the local stealer, and they weren't willing to deal. The '19 they have they want $10,400 out the door, and the '17, which is a demo is still $10k and change out the door. Maybe I just suck at negotiation. I indicated there were a few dealers accross the country offering much lower prices, and they poo-pooed that quickly. I'll find a nice used one out there for a lot less...
  10. Turns out there is a leftover '17 at a nearby dealer. The tag they have on it says $8999! I'll see if they are willing to deal, especially considering prices out there on '19 Tracers. Otherwise, there are some good looking used options in neighboring states that I don't mind traveling for.
  11. That's a good data point. My wife rarely rides with me, so that's a non-issue. The 18/19 non-GT hasn't been on my radar because I can't stand the glossy grey color. Maybe if I come across a good deal on a Tracer, I won't poo-poo it right away. I can always wrap, plasti-dip, or paint it... It's sounding more and more like finding a good deal on a 2017 in the color I like will be the most sound option for me.
  12. That's a really good point about the swingarm length. The TFT is nice, but not essential. But I really liked the way the GT handles. Just the right amount of hooligan and sport tourer.
  13. That's MSRP. I would hope that with the 2020s hitting the dealers now, they would come down some on the price.
  14. Good to know, thanks! I have been looking more at the '17 because I like the blue color. I have an MCCruise on the FJR, and it's been fantastic. I like that the FJ09 version is a much simpler install than the FJR (no vacuum system or servos to worry about).
  15. Hey all, I currently own an 07 FJR that has been very good to me, but I fell in love with another bike. When the Tracer GT first came out, I test rode one at a local demo day, and I loved the feel of the bike. I wasn't ready then to make switch, but I am now. To make sure I really loved the Tracer, I rented one for a day. 8 hours and 430 miles later, I was smitten! I'm now shopping around to see if I can find a good deal on one. I'm still not sure if I want to save a couple grand and get a 2016-17, or the GT. I will add cruise if I don't get the GT. I don't love the factory bags, so that isn't a factor. But I am unsure how different a '17 and a '19 would feel. Anyway, I just wanted to say "hi." I love having a community resource for the bikes I ride.
