Theory is that Honda is trying not to step on Africa Twin sales by equipping the Transalp too well. Basic suspension, no CC, no IMU, etc.
That makes some sense, but perhaps they could make one higher tiered model with a price to match? Kind of like what Yamaha has done with the MT-09, when compared to the MT-09 SP. Kind of surprised Yamaha hasn't done that with the Tenere 7, in particular since the outdated Super Tenere doesn't sell so well these days. That engine in your bike is worth buying just for that reason alone, but I understand that both the Yamaha and Suzuki parallel twins are pretty nice as well......but Honda nailed it.

That new MT09 SP sounds like a helluva fun machine!!!!

So much speculation (and whining 😉) about the lack of CC. Like I mentioned though, the Veridian system is affordable. There's other, more upscale, CC options too. Like most bikes, there's lots of areas of the bike to upgrade/modify to make it suit you. I bet there's a lot of people that buy bikes and just ride them as they are from the dealership ... until they start hanging out on forums and "learn" about all the bike's shortcomings. 😁
Any shortcomings are always in the eyes of the beholder, but factory cruise "for me" is now something I can't ride without. Doubt there are alot of people that buy motorcycles and keep them dealership stock for long, and that was occurring long long before forums.
I really like the Trans Alp overall and it should be a homerun for Honda, sounds like you are liking your choice of machine as well.
-
I am still floored that factory CC isn't an option.

I'd be buying the entire basket and whatever else is needed for replace/swap and button back up.

The 3 letter agencies are not our friends or allies........we need to realize that more and more.

Kindred spirits we must be… 😀
A recent search of new vehicles with my mandatory ‘V8-Manual-Sedan’ combo yielded exactly one option. So in a moment of incredibly irresponsible financial management, I spent my next decade’s worth of motorcycle money on a CT5-V Blackwing Cadillac. And I couldn’t be happier…
Because honestly, who doesn’t need a 668 hp, 3 pedal, 200 mph Cadillac? 🤷♂️
Happy hunting for your next moto-toy!
BAD ASS.....what year is that?

Exactly. No Trike or Spyder for me, a Miata sounds like a good idea if I give up riding. (A 3 wheeler is very impractical for me as I live in a condo with limited parking and expensive.)
I will NEVER ride/own a trike or in particular that abomination called the Spyder.......2 wheels only, or it's convertible time.
-
Time for a sporty convertible, good wishes and farewell sir!!!

Less is more for me, my Aerostich gear is light and my helmet is carbon fiber. Riding a motorcycle is a gamble no matter how well you are geared up, but the least amount of weight or restriction I have......the better.

WP is the choice of KTM, my buddy has a great suspension on his 790 adventure.
-
You are overthinking all of this IMHO......buy the bike that you want and be done with it. Getting an FJ or regular Tracer is a downgrade compared to the 19-current GT lines, but yes there are many happy owners here of the OG models as well.

Isn't it also a CANBUS wiring system as well?

+1 on a good bath/polish........can be immaculate under that grime, but the grime being gone tells it all.

I would consider putting in B mode while riding many miles in the rain, otherwise it's mostly standard for me with the occasional A. And yeah the Tracer 700 is another gem with another perfect engine.

Sorry to hear that my man, that is certainly a bad run of luck and you're dealing with it best you can......getting older aint for sissies. I hear about alot of serious cycling injuries both on and off pavement, IMHO it's much more dangerous than riding motorcycles.
-
He just said a 19, so I assumed it was the 19GT and not the regular tracer. Yeah I wouldn't be making that deal were it me, the regular Tracer is missing alot more from the GT than just ride by wire CC. But big congrats to the OP and welcome back to the riding game, that's still a fabulous scoot just for the engine alone.

🤣if only 22 pounds
I was 202, now I am at 175 "so I have lost 27 pounds".......52 years young and overall in the best shape I've been since a much younger man, Lifestyle changes can go a long way, in particular when doing it a bit at a time so the body adjusts naturally. My problem is the opposite of yours, my gear is hanging off me now. 😂

I went to look at the 21 , nice bike ! but as I as chatting with the salesman about my decision process he showed me a 2019 that literally just came in only 500 km on it as is a repo. I think I just made up my mind as its basically brand new and will leave me extra cash for gear as I need a new helmet etc.
It,s over 3k less than the 9gt the only thing the 9gt has that I really want is the cruise control . If money was no object im sure the gt would be in the garage !
The 19/20 has cruise control.

Yeah but the factory cruise control only starts to work at 4th gear.
Do a search for McCruise on this forum. Their add-on cruise control works in lower gears which is helpful.

Cruise control is for 55 and higher IMHO, and cruise control only working in 4th-6th most certainly isn't a deal breaker for the masses. Why would anyone want to modify/add to the factory ride by wire CC system?

The 2020 tracer 900 that I have been looking at has the short sport windshield. The other bikes i was looking at is a 21 9gt with 16000 km on it or a 2020 gt with 27000 km, forgetting the km's is it worth getting the 21? I know it has the slightly bigger engine ,semi active suspension etc. Any thoughts would be great! Im getting close to a decision. The 2020 900 being cheaper would free up some cash for some gear and future up grades.
I am not a fan of the 21/22 Tracers, so I am more than happy/content with my 20.......save the extra money for gear and upgrades IMHO and get the 20. Plus.......my 20 is faster than my buddy's 22 and it also doesn't like to wheelie as well as mine either. 😂
