  1. I used a shop vac. Fortunately no damage except to the Yamaha tool bag they chewed up. They're the only ones who like it anyway. I guess I was lucky they didn't chew on the wrench. Good tip on the ultrasonic repellent. I'll give that a try.
  2. Be careful out there. Mice like tracers too.
  3. Wow. Thanks for that Draco. I was hoping to find one for another bike that I could adapt. What year is your tracer? Looks great. What kind of mirrors are those?
  4. I took them off for the summer. I don't like the wind being blocked and they're worthless for crash protection. One of the first things I do to a new bike is put on the 2 point barkbusters. This gives you a big thick metal bar for protection and a selection of plastic covers that you can use or not. I leave them off in the summer. Unfortunately they're not available for the tracer. I'm looking for something else.
  5. That's funny. My wife accuses me of leaning into turns and accelerating through the curves in the car.
  6. On a nice day in early March, you would climb over a whole pile of naked women to get to your motorcycle.
  7. You've never had a car that was worth more than your bike.
  8. The closest dealer to me actually refused to do mine. He said that he doesn't make any money on recalls. Said he could probably "sneak it in" if I bought the bike in for a set of tires. WTF. If anyone else thinks it's less trouble to do it yourself the Yamaha part# is BJ1- 83980-00-00 Gapscratch over on advrider says it's an easy 1/2 hour job. Remove top panel and 2 side panels, cut and replace a zip tie. Yamaha says .6 hour. Switch is about $75 and readily available online.
  9. I was going to order a Seat Concepts because I've had several- got one now. Then I saw the wait is 8 to 10 weeks.
  10. I've got heated grips and waterproof gloves. I'm more interested in protecting the hand controls. Not that the stockers look like they're good for that either.
  11. Nobody is showing an application for the 2 point mount for this bike. They show one for a single point mount that goes into the end of the bars but I don't know that it would be any stronger than what we have now.
  12. I guess the photo thing needs a little work
  13. Many thanks to petshark. Now I'll be able to post pix. On the subject of hand guards- probably my biggest disappointment so far is the fact that I won't be able to put Barkbusters on this bike. It's usually one of the first things I do when I get a bike. They've saved my hand controls several times. I also like the fact that I can take the plastic off in the summer and still have that big fat aluminum bar protecting things. Any suggestions on something else?
  14. Yeah. We can do that. I ordered it last Wednesday and some folks are saying that they get it in about a week so hopefully pretty soon. I'm retired so I'm always up for a ride . It is the one with the red trim. Pet shark just gave me some pointers on posting pix so I should be able to do that as well.
  15. I'll let you know. I've got one coming in a couple days.
  16. If you've got tight links and uneven chain tension you need a new chain. Can't speak about the tracer in particular but I've seen plenty of factory chains that were taken care of go south under 10k. You're just not getting a top quality chain on a new Japanese bike.
  17. Thanx. I think I'll give it a try.
  18. Yeah 600 is a long day -especially with a bad seat. Never really cared for sargents and this one doesn't look like it would be any better. On your bagster, what position did you have it in? Did you raise the front?
  19. Thanx for the reply. Does the bagster address the seat sloping down in front issue? I think I've gotten about every millimeter I can out of the seat slope mod- up about 6mm at the tank and down a little in back- but it's still a bit much for me. Seat Concepts specifically addresses that but they say their wait time is 8 to 10 weeks.
  20. Thanx. I tried uploading a pic but it says " only allowed so many kb". Just a phone pic so I don't know what the problem is. Something for the new owners to check- I thought that I went over the bike pretty well when I got it home but apparently I didn't check the torque on the bolts that hold the handguards onto the bars. I lost them and the spacers.
  21. Greetings. Awesome forum you've got here. I've been lurking for a few weeks and I just picked up a 2020 with about 700 miles on it. I got it home and did an oil change, chain adjustment, set the front and rear sag and put the other suspension adjustments in the middle. Then I went about getting it to fit me. I got all I could out of the seat raising mod thanks to that great thread and a couple tweaks of my own. Then I put on some lowering pegs and some bar risers that I had laying around that happened to fit. I've got 34" legs with 66 year old knees on them so the seat to peg measurement is the most important on the bike. I don't hate the seat but I still wish it was a little flatter. The mods should keep me happy until I get another seat. Seat Concepts has been my go to but they don't offer a tall one for this bike. Some folks say that it feels higher than the stocker so I'll probably order one of those. Then I took it out for a couple hundred miles. Wow. What an awesome bike. Had it up to 100 mph and it felt fine. Very stable. Took it on some gravel and was pretty happy there too. Nothing too serious, just your average crappy gravel road-washboard, potholes and a little deeper stuff. 40 to 50 mph and it was all good. No complaints about the handling, suspension or fueling. But then I never could leave well enough alone.
  22. Nice work. Thanks for the great idea on the black connector
