stringman
Hi I know that there was some new changes introduced on the 2018 models I think they were narrower bars, longer swinging arm and possibly the seat? Is that correct or are there any more changes? I am struggling to find an easy way to tell if the bikes I am looking at are the 18-20 models Is there an easy way to check? ( I think I may have answered my own question with the seat?) Thanks
Supporting Member Heli ATP Posted April 8, 2022 Supporting Member Share Posted April 8, 2022 Decode the VIN. If you have the VIN available you can tell what year it was manufactured. 10th character is year... All bikes have a VIN sticker with the year plainly displayed. 1 ***2015 Candy Red FJ-09***
stringman
Thanks for the replies That is great if I get to the bike , but what I am hoping is a way to identify it from sellers photos. Pretty sure the way to go is the seat
Supporting Member Heli ATP Posted April 9, 2022 Supporting Member Share Posted April 9, 2022 There are different seat options available for any model. Stock, comfort, heated etc. Color is a consideration. Further research may be required depending on what continent you reside. 2018 Yamaha Tracer 900 Colors: Armor Gray 2019 Yamaha Tracer 900 Colors: Armor Gray Raven (GT) Yamaha Tracer 900 GT Colors Red Silver
Rick123
Beside mentioned above some design changes. To me most obvious to me are air intakes grills and adjustable windscreen. Edited April 10, 2022 by Rick123

I didnt realise about the seat options. But you are correct that the windscreen is a real give away. To be honest I am struggling to work out what the changes are. I know the windscreen is improved, the bars are narrower and some have said the seat is improved. I have also heard the forks were improved and the swinging arm was lengthened but I also hear that happened on the 17 model. I am trying to work out if the shock from my 17 will fit on an 18/19 bike
