Thanks I had the same issue until I mounted the factory rear rack, installing that rack pushes out the mounts a little and allows the bags to line up perfect, i assume it was made that way. Just installed the rear rack this weekend. Bags go on smooth as butter now! I think the rear rack makes the bike look more complete also. What makes everything line up better are the half inch spacers and longer bolts used to mount the rack. I suppose just using spacers would make the fit better if you didn't want the tail rack. .
