docsimple
Just wondering if anyone knows, can we flash the firmware on our TCS to get the 2017 modes? I mostly ride with it off but would be nice to see if they have anything interesting. What say you internets? 2015 Red FJ 09 2013 WR250R - little boy blue - sold 2012 DL650 V Strom - sold 2007 FZ6 - sold 1986 FJ600 - sold
empire00
I am hoping this is something that will come out as a tune option or even a ECU swap.

Premium Member Brick Posted February 18, 2017 Premium Member Share Posted February 18, 2017 So what are the big changes in the 2017 TCS that would be worth getting a reflash? otaylor38
Has anybody tested the new system? Im assuming the new mode will let it go a little and bring it on more progressively?
Premium Member Brick Posted February 18, 2017 Premium Member Share Posted February 18, 2017 Yea doesn't sound like an ECU function. Just my opinion too. Brick 2015 Yamaha FJ-09 "Red Molly" 2014 Yamaha Super Tenere' ES 1999 Suzuki SV650
docsimple
Brick, I just read the service manual . It lists an ECU and an ABS ECU. The TCS section talks about routing signal through the ECU for traction control. I could be reading it wrong, it was just a cursory glance, but I'm hoping I'm reading it right as it does open the possibility. 2015 Red FJ 09 2013 WR250R - little boy blue - sold 2012 DL650 V Strom - sold 2007 FZ6 - sold 1986 FJ600 - sold

Premium Member keithu Posted March 7, 2017 Premium Member Share Posted March 7, 2017 So what is the difference between the two new TCS modes?
crazyivan
I suspect it is the same modes as on the XSR900. Here is the Motorcyclist magazine 'MC Commute' video on the 2016 XSR900, at 5 min 8sec he discusses and demonstrates the traction control. [video src=https://youtu.be/bHc2iNpsnhw?t=5m8s] Basically it appears one mode is similar to the 'on' form of TCS for FJ-09, and the new mode allows wheelies.. I'm sure there is probably more to it than that, but that seems the main easily observed feature.
