SCR950 wheels on the Tracer 900

Well, the SCR uses 17" rear and 19" front, so if they fit, that would be a great and fast way to "off road". I don't have access to any dimensions etc but could potentially take a trip to my local dealership and investigate, tomorrow.

Does the SCR950 wheels fit the Tracer 900/900GT ?

So, I don't know for certain one way or the other, but just looking at the wheels from the SCR, I doubt they would fit without significant modification.ย ย ย  The sizes are completely wrong (19" front, really skinny 17" rear), but more importantly, the front on the SCR is a single rotor, and doesn't appear to have any provision for the ABS speed sensor ring.ย ย ย

I vaguely recall someone putting wire wheels onto an FJ, but think they had them custom laced...ย  it wasn't just a swap of factory Yamaha parts.ย ย

Really quick, there is the Alpine Ride wire spoke wheels, 17" only, as used on the limited 847 R custom bike. That is the first step. The second step would be to use the custom wheels from Cognito Moto which would allow for 2.15 x 19" front and 5.5 x 17" rear. See link bellow.

A quick note. The reason I am investigating is simple. I want a Dirt Freak inspired Tracer 900 GT. The Tรฉnรฉrรฉ 700 is too much ADV and the Tracer is too little - meaning I am looking for a Touring ADV and the CP3 engine / Tracer platform is perfect :)

Cogni Moto Wheels... right. Neat. Waiting for Alpine to drop a comment on my request.
I also found some Jack up kits (dog bone) for the rear suspension - 1 inch should be enough.

I am not planning a pure off road machine, just increased ADV like your friend with his adventure tracer. Perfect - ADV Touring rather than Sport Touring. Michelin Anakee Adventure (80/20) should be a good tire since I plan on doing. Want increase gravel, light dirt and fire trail travel without sacrificing asphalt riding, still need to deal with dry & wet asphalt.ย

I'm back.

First of all, Alpine is not willing or cannot offer a 19" for the front, so they are out of the race, however, Cognito Moto is. They use Excel Signature rim's, they offer only silver or black rim, but Excel offer a gold version which is what I want. So there we go. 19" in the front and 17" in the rear ๐Ÿ™‚

I have an SCR 950 wheel in my garage. I used it to convert a Ninja 650R into an ADV bike. I can take some measurements this week, in case anyone is curious. The Axle diameter is the same, but I am sure wheel spacers will be needed, along with some type of offset bracket for the brake.ย

Having a single disk would reduce braking power significantly, which would suck on a bike like the Tracer. You can use a larger FJR1300 disk on the SCR wheel to get better braking force.ย

Personally, I think the Tracer engine would not be very fun in the dirt (outside of smooth gravel roads). The engine is way to high-strung, unlike a p-twin, it won't have the torque down low needed to crawl over the rough stuff. That custom ADV Tracer looks pretty awesome though!

Thanks for the feedback and input draco_1967.

What DirtFreak Japan did was to produce an MT-09 Offroad, moved the link plate or replaced the "dog bone" with a jack up kit to compensate for the larger front wheel. 1" higher ground clarence. Replaced the shocks for longer travel (KYB Japan) and added lots of different bells and whistles ๐Ÿ˜‰ (links are provided). My goal is not an Offroad but an ADV.. I know, ADV is offroad but you don't have to ride offroad. Compact gravel and Fire Trails together with some light dirt trails.... that's my plan.

So, Sport Touring becomes Adventure Turing instead ofย  Dirtbike / Offroad which Dirtfreak did.

I need a 80/20 ADV Touring bike with the focus on touring and comfort but I also want a bike that is usable on gravel, sand and dirt. A stronger engine with a more linear torque curve than the CP2, hence CP3 and the Tracer 900 GT because cruise control and color TFT :)

Cognito Moto's custom hub allow for original components to be transplanted which is the ideal. Wana do some upgrades while doing that, go for it :)

I am always interested in bike mods outside of normal, I would love to see an update when you get it finished and set-up. ๐Ÿ‘

I have to admit something. I am 44 years old, don't have a license yet but started studying this week. Have inspected a Tracer 900 GT on multiple occasions and fell in love. This is the bike for me, so, get busy saving up to one and get a license. Meaning, it will take a while for me to get to a point where my Tracer version see's the light of day. However, I will most certainly create a thread for it.
I've been gravitating towards this moment and this bike for several years, just wasn't able to act upon it before.
