Any of you Brits or Euro riders plan on heading to the IOM TT next month?

    Wish I was there!!

I have aways wanted to go.  I want to fly to UK, rent a bike and ferry it over to watch. It would be cool to ride the course, but at much much lower speeds than the crazy participants with much more skill than I.

I am very interested in the cruise control mod where it works in all gears.  What about modifying the quick shifter to work on downshifts also? Does anybody know if this is possible?  Or done by Ivan or anyone else?

Our very own @2wheeldynoworks does all this. They have flashed more FJ/tracer900's than anyone else on the planet. They were flashing them before anyone else.  They also have an expert from FTECU working on staff who knows the tracer900 fueling and software like the back of his hand.

after reading your post @cruizin I looked into this product further and liked what I was seeing.  So I bought some and put it on every leather thing I owned.  Our baseball gloves feel amazing now and our boots have been restored to their original condition or better. So far so good with everything I have treated...not oily feeling at all....seems to be absorbed into the leather as opposed to sitting on the surface on the leather.  nice stuff.

Awesome! Its the best thing you can do for leather.  My Grandson put's it on his baseball glove weekly, puts it under his mattress and it's broke in nicely.

No helmet alone is as quiet as the same one plus decent-quality (preferably custom) earplugs.  The difference is night and day - or chalk and cheese if you prefer!

I don't like wearing earplugs on a bike. I like to hear the approaching car behind or beside me, it is part of what my brain uses to calculate whats happening around me.

My Schuberth helmets are quieter than any other helmet Iv'e owned but still give me the noise of other cars and such.  Earplugs drown out too much.

Finally got me a new Tracer GT, been looking at this bike for a year. i dont want to use my Bell qualifier, SOOOO noisy for long freeway rides.

Any suggestions on a decent under 250 helmet not too noisy, and good winshield seal?  my bell leaks so much air, my eyes get dried all the time, lol i need a good change.

also if your in the bay area, CA, hmu dudes

Man, Schuberth makes the best, most comfortable and quietest helmets known to man. they are also among the best protective helmets made. When on a long trip, comfort and quiet are so key to a good trip.

Here are all the Schuberth helmets at Revzilla. Easy returns..

Has anyone with a Tracer GT had their ECU flashed.  I know Ivan has his coming out in a couple of months.  As of now, I'm waiting for his flash as I trust him from his history of improving bikes ride quality through flashing.

Vcyclenut has a flash available now, but I would like to see some positive reviews before choosing their update.

Please pass on any info you have on an updated ECU flash.  Vcyclenut's flash is $100 cheaper than Ivan's upcoming flash.

Have you seen the 2wheeldynoworks board on here? They are a supporting vendor of this forum and have flashed hundreds of our members ECU's.  They are very very good.  Not the cheapest, but I do not suggest going "cheap" on your engine tuning. They work with a ton of top actual race teams and thousands of street bikes.   they have custom tunes tailored for different exhausts for the tracer 900 and GT (yosh tune, Akrapovic tune, ETC, ETC.

If you have a GT, check out the below thread in their board.

I got my side case liners today from Kathy's.  They are for an FJR, but will fit a Tracer 900 GT.  The quality is exceptional and US made as well.  They are probably a bit pricey, but worth it to me/

Excuse my ignorance, who is Kathy?

Will it be a tech tip if I clean it up after collecting some additional data? I’d also need to come up with a thread name that’s descriptive enough for people to find. I think there is a lot of useful technical information in this thread.

I’m not complaining, I’m only asking. I really appreciate you making room for this discussion.

    Duke

Yeah, when you do just edit your first post in the thread and put it there.  Then ill put it back. Thanks!

I bought a set of puig sport rider footpegs. Right one went on fine, but the left one does not seem to have a removable pin. I do not own any power tools and have never used them on a bike before so my DIY experience is minimal. Can someone explain the best way to get this thing off? Tools needed and pictures would be a definite help!

    Thanks

Moving this out of the tech tips section, questions do not go in here, they go in the tech questions board.

I just finished installing mine today. I haven’t had a chance to use them on the road yet, but they heat nicely in the garage.

I just couldn’t see spending so much on factory grips that seem to have quality and reliability problems.

If a how-to post would be helpful, I can do one. If it’s already been done, I won’t bother.

Im moving this out of the tech tip section because its not really a tech tip.

Learned a few things during the install,

    Parts list,

As you know, there is a revised part # for the pan with the side drain, it also showed a revised part # for the 15 screws that attach it. I purchased just in case there was a length difference. End up the only difference was the color of the head of the screw, it was black, so I'll be returning these.

Also, someone mention that the drain plug was included with the pan, and that was correct.

The pan replacement is fairly straight forward, I did take a few photos of the process. It can be done with bike on side stand if you don't mind laying on the floor for a few hours. I used a couple on exercise mats to lay on.

    Picture of new pan.

Center stand needs to be removed, the spring was a bit of a challenge to get off. Used a block of wood to brace up the brake lever and used a screwdriver to remove. The nut for the bolt on the center stand is welded on the back side, so just unscrew the bolt, one on each side.

Removed screws holding wiring harness, was planning to disconnect the plug, but it was not giving up easy, so unscrewed the O2 sensor, there was enough slack in the harness that it didn't twist the wires too much. I used high temp anti seize compound on the threads during the reinstall. Remember to put 5 of 6 twist counterclockwise before reinstalling so you don't end up with twisted wires.

Other than the header bolts, exhaust has two bolts at the rear, one on each side. nut is welded, so just unscrew the bolts. Be sure to replace the 3 crush washers and step torque to 14 foot lbs., way too much work to take a chance on a leak.

Putting the spring back on the center stand was a challenge also, here is what I came up with that worked, in retrospect, this would have been a better way to remove the spring.

Any chance you could redo this post and put it in the tech tip section, so that others can find it over the years and use this as a guide?  It would probably help some people save a ton of money

Crud, I suppose I’m going to have to install my Mazda plug at the next oil change, but I really like the one I’m using because it has a built in magnet.

Maybe I’ll splurge and spend money now on a Higdonion to protect my pan rather than spending it later on a new pan. Then I could use my fancy drain plug.

@higdonion is the way to go

If I am a pay member there are no limits on file size? (within reason, of course)

PRemium memebrs get unlimited overall storage. I don't remember what the total limit is but yes, regular members are limited to how many pics they can have hosted on the forum.

Bike owners post a ton of pics, and now these camera uploads are 8-12 MB each. When you consider that we have thousands of memebrs, you can imagine the expensive hosting bill that I am trying to avoid having each month.

I usually get the same error message as well.  I have to lower the quality of the photo in the phone or send it to my PC where I resize it in Windows before posting it.

I just enlarged the total per post image size limits for free members.

If it blocks you again, then you have filled your total pic hosting limits and you can go delete some old images.

    @Cruizin

A topic we have discussed before.

I take all pictures with my phone. It used to be a Samsung s5. I could resize pictures in the phone and post here, it was a "pita" but workable.

Now I have a Samsung s10+ I can't get it to take or resize a picture to fit on the website.

I have pictures that I think members would enjoy.

Are there any work arounds you can suggest?

Try posting a pic below let's see what happens.
