I would like a report back when you're riding in this weather. A lot of my riding is done in hot, humid southern summer conditions, and I would like to know how effective the venting is in these conditions.

I rode across Death valley 2 years ago in my 1 piece. 108 at 8am. It was hot but i unzipped down to my belly button and it wasn't that bad. We're riding back through there next month.

I live in SE TN and have 80K+ miles with the suit. It works and I wear it every time I ride. When i replace it it will be with the 2 piece. I have experienced the wet crotch in monsoon conditions and folks say the 2 piece is more waterproof.

To be fair, my local Yamaha dealer - a high volume dealer that usually offers big discounts - was advertising T7s at $14999 last week, though this week they're back down to only $12999. This is against a supposed MSRP of $9999.

Like you said, a thing is worth what people are willing to pay.

I agree.....I also think HD dealers are making a mistake. But, I’ve been wrong before.
The PanAm was a slam dunk for me before I started reading these stories. There are too many good alternatives out there for me to pay an HD “premium”.

I'm taking delivery of a Pan America on Saturday. Should have been two weeks ago but I walked out over the price, typical HD dealer with all the added charges and a 10% over list dealer mark-up. The Tee-shirt vendor wanted a almost $30.000 for the bike out the door. So with luck I will have a special in orange  creamsicle paint job for $25,204 out the door from the same dealer.

Let me start by saying I’m a capitalist 100% and believe a thing is worth what someone is willing to pay. With that being said, this is exactly what I hoped wouldn’t happen.

I believe this bike and possible bikes using the drivetrain in the future could be what saves HD...if it convinces NEW people to join the Harley clan. The price, to me and other non HD people I ride with is a big part of the appeal.

They won’t convince the diehard euro fanboys to come over jacking around like that. The PanAm goes from something I’m willing to spend a bit on to “no way” when they start wanting $25K+. I believe there’s a lot that feel that way too. I also don’t think  many of their customer base want an “adventure” bike. Especially not one that approaches the upper end of their models price wise.

My interest in the bike has diminished after reading your post an other posts on other boards.  Maybe it’ll work out for them. Only time will tell.

  4. If the tire(s) are questionable, replace them. A 4k to 6k mile trip is a long way from home many times a long way from anywhere. Also, I was 200 miles from home a few years ago and my rear chunked on me in a rather large town... On a Saturday evening... The only bike place open nearby was the HD dealership. The HD dealership didn't have anything close to my tire. The local import bike dealership was closed on Sundays and Mondays. Fortunately, since it was only 200 miles from home; my Father in law drove up and trailered me home.

Also, last august on Odyssey 2020, we noticed the rear on my buddy's stryker was showing the cords at the "99 miles" sign on Lolo. It's lucky we stopped for the photo or we wouldn't have discovered it. I told him to change that tire before we left on on the trip. 3K miles deep on a 6500 trip in the middle of nowhere is no place to need a tire. We limped back to Missoula to find a tire. The only tire his size within 1000 miles was over 100 miles away in Kalispell, MT. We rented a car and drove up there and back. The folks at Maverick motorsports in Missoula are good people. They stayed open late and swapped tires so we could continue the next morning. They charged him $25 to do it. Good Folks.

Long stories short, I don't chance it with tires.

Okay, here’s my argument for buying it. What if tomorrow evening you hear a knock on the door, you answer and a guy pointing a gun at your face says “show me a 2021 Tracer in your garage or I’ll blow your head off!”? Think how in your last moments you’ll feel not having bought one. Can you really take that risk?

I have used that logic several times to help me buy a new motorcycle. Works every time.

That logic don’t work with the wife.... I’ve tried.

Thank you for all of your replies.

I think with the weight distribution being the issue (with lots of weight behind me and slightly higher) it probably isn't the best idea unfortunately.

I'd find a thinner gf but this one is really nice :)

Solo riding for now I suppose...

Overloading your bike can damage things. I’d be worried about 60+lbs over the rated weight carrying capacity way out toward the end of the subframe damaging or breaking something.

Even using the correct Yamaha adapter and trying with two different models of code reader (one a very recent expensive version borrowed from a friend) I could not read codes on my 2015 UK model.

My experience is the same. I've tried  3 different readers and none would work with my 2015.
