  1. I think the alignment pins are there so the bozos who assemble the bikes will at least get the controls pointing in the right direction. Before the pins were there I saw many bikes that were set up so bad that the first thing you had to do was adjust the controls before you could even ride it safely.
  2. That's a SH42, there's some on ebay for $170.00, it has a more squarish profile so it fits large item like pizza boxes better than the round shaped cases. And it only weigh 6 lbs.
  3. Leave them in and don't worry their only covers. Using a torque wrench on small steel cap screws threaded into aluminum is tricky business and on parts that are not of structural importance I don't do it. If you really feel you need to torque them make sure you have a proper tool that's calibrated and not some box store import.
  4. Just installed mine today, very easy install it uses 4 existing fastener locations.
  5. You might TELL the asshat Dealer that if your VIN falls in the window, it's supposed to be replaced, period. No "bring it in so we can listen, we'll look at it if it fails, no I'm too lazy to spend 2 minutes on my computer to log-in to Yamaha's Dealer Website......" And Dealers wonder why no one likes or trusts them. Contact Yamaha N. America, turn your Dealer in. Bruceintucson is right duhs10, they have to replace it regardless of whether it's failing or not. That dude is playing you for a fool just like many dealers have been doing to other fj owners. I have to wonder how much of peoples time these dipshits have wasted with this bring it in and will listen to it crap. I think you need to call this guy back and have another talk with him, and don't be so polite this time.
  6. I ordered one last week, not that I'm crazy about beaks but it just looks like somthing is missing without it.
  7. ...just as they think no one's watching... this happens. Mind you... I challenge anyone on here to claim they've never texted, or picked up a call, or reached out for something in the glove box... while stopped at a light, or even in slow traffic. I have NEVER put on make up while driving though, or otherwise. Problem is most drivers are dangerous even when they are paying attention.
  8. Nobody seems to trust them plastic screws very much but their actually nylon and their pretty strong. Their designed to shear off in the unfornate event that a rider has a collision or high sides over the bars and through the shield. The factory brackets that hold the shields are usually made of die cast or some other light weight material that will easily collapse as well. Luckily I haven't done it but I've read some story's of guys banging up their rib cages on plastic shield impacts and I do know what that feels like.
  9. Dade City, Fl. Just like it says under my avatar over there. Wouldn't it be nice if everyone did that, especially when there are members in other parts of the world.
  10. Forget the dealer, DIY....it's a half hour effort. Combine labour time slot with an oil change.I agree DIY, you know that you have a good replacement part so why take a chance with some bozo that may screw it up.
  11. I've almost got my wife talked into moving from Florida to a cooler part of the country but it looks like I'm running out of options.
  12. WHAT, who says lane splitting is illegal in Georgia, next you'll probable tell me that passing on the double yellows not allowed either.
