  1. Sounds like someone put some bad JuJu on you guys....I hope you remembered to slow down when you passed the cemeteries cause there's a bunch of dead Indians buried up in them hills.
  2. 64 in a 30 zone wouldnt that be the same % over as doing 128 in a 60 zone
  3. Nowadays the cops are always there on the weekends and their usually around on the weekdays during the busy season. It's not that they want to be way the hell out there writing tickets but its the only way they know how to keep the death rate down. And don't bother trying to look out for them because they'll see you way before you see them.
  4. What hwy pegs did you use? My Givi bars are coming this week and will be looking at pegs as well. Not too many options for the 22mm Givi tubes. Try J&P Cycles piotrek they have plenty of them
  5. These are nice because their long enough to lock a helmet and jacket. If you go to rally's or races and your far from where your bikes parked things will walk away if their not secured. Another thing I do is hang my helmet low on a passenger footpeg where its less likely to be seen by a crook in the first place. Also with a combination lock that's one less key to possibly loose. http://www.aerostich.com/retractable-cable-lock.html
  6. You need to use an adhesion promoter before your primer because those cases are probably some kind of polystyrene or polyethylene blend type of plastic and paint won't take to it like an abs plastic. Dupli-color makes it as well as most automotive paint manufacturers and auto parts stores should have it in stock.
  7. They are Yamaha's way of saying "don't lean over any farther." I'm assuming you mean the extended knobs on the bottom of the foot peg.Wish they put them on bikes when I was a kid, probably would saved me allot a pairs of blue jeans.
  8. Took it on up to the old TWO in Suches and bumped into a guy named Paul from Ga riding this
  9. What is the correct configuration? Mine came off the showroom floor with the brake side wiring in front of the risers, and the clutch side wiring behind the risers (which makes sense to keep the wiring away from the ignition switch area). I just assumed they were all delivered this way... Whatever way you run them the important thing is to make sure the wires are long enough that their not binding when you turn the bars all the way. I don't know if the guys that assemble these bikes would be able to think of something that complicated.
  10. Luckily nowadays anyone who knows how to read can spend a few minutes on the web and easily learn everything they need to know about antifreeze or oil or just about anything from folks that specialize in these things and avoid getting mixed up with any sour faced blokes all together.
  11. It looks like they had to put some kind of relief there to prevent crud build up as an afterthought or something, it would have been smart if they had tucked that hugger inside the swingarm so the crap would flow through instead of deflecting off the top and going all over everything. I had a similar problem with a gs I had and ended up having to get creative with some rubber flaps because it was trashing the back of my legs but I haven't messed with this bike yet. Were in extreme drought conditions down here now so this won't be a problem for me anytime soon but I wish it was cause I'm getting tired of eating dust and were burning up all over place here.
  12. Yeah... suspected that would be the response. This must be that one ethical, er... legal line they won't cross. Speaking of "checking things off"... they don't seem to mind doing a shetty pre-delivery inspection job, and still checking it off as complete.I think they need some checkers to check their checkers, and at the assembly line as well.
  13. I went in to see my dealer about this today. He said they cant order say 75 recall kits, they have to order them individually by VIN number then once the service is done they can get that VIN checked off as complete. They have to have everything documented as it is a legal procedure. There's no way any legit dealer who wants to maintain his license will just hand out the parts and "call it good". Seems to me that if they know your the owner of a bike that falls under the recall, they must have your serial number and your address to be able to send you the recall notice in the first place. If that's the case they can easily estimate how many bikes will actually come in and at least put some parts on the shelf rather than order them one by one and waste people's time for such diddilyshit.
  14. Wow you guys must not ride very much you jackets all look like new.
  15. Sounds like you guys had an exciting day. Those oil pans are very thin and cast from a very brittle grade of aluminum like I've never seen before. When I went to cut the little drain plug guard off the bottom of mine it just shattered lnto pieces like it was made of glass.
  16. Is that from a rock or was someone shooting at you, trespassing can be dangerous sometimes.
  17. That's a great deal, I tried to get one but all they have is the xs size left which is kinda typical for Revzilla closeouts.
  18. I use this college kid that works for me sometimes when he gets low on beer money. He's not very smart but he's got small hands and I hate washing bikes. That and Simple Green.
  19. I don't think that is supposed to be a 'full' mark. My understanding is that those are 'max' and 'min' marks. So the picture shows the oil level in the middle of the acceptable range. Nonetheless, I did add a bit more oil just to be on the safe side.Yes it should be between the marks and if you put in too much then you won't be able too see if you've overfilled it.
  20. I would also recommended learning in the dirt if you really have to do it, and don't use a bike that's any heavier than what you would want landing on top of you when things don't work out so good.
  21. Nah that won't work, the old 650's had the good vibes
  22. I think these guys are just messing with you bentaero, when I ride the twisties my front tires are gone at around 4,500 max. And when I go cross country with a lot of straight roads my rear is done around 5,000 miles or so running dual compound sport touring tires. And I think building a trailer to save your tires is an excellent idea.
