  1. Raptor/interceptor... please expound on this.. pics if available...Absotively!!!! Pictures and details, please!!!!!
  2. You cant go wrong with either flash, both vendors are highly respected and have a near cult-like legion of appreciative fans. I live near 2WDW and had Nels tune my previous FZ1 with great results so I used them, though in the FZ1 community, Ivan is known as “The Man”. David Vcyclenut always sets it up for quick shifter, even if you don't have one (yet). He's in FL and, if you pay for the expedited shipping, it can be as little as 3 days until you get it back. He typically does same day turn around.
  3. It worked out pretty good. Huge improvement over stock and now it behaves like a sportbike. It's even better than my Speed Triple was. The R1 carts did not fit properly, so we kept the fork caps and had to fit parts of ZX-10R cartridges. I'm still working on setup as the front end will chatter under really hard cornering, but other than that, I'm very satisfied. Thanks for the update. It sounds like you had a good deal of development to make this work.
  4. Did a few upgrades in the previous few weeks, but only just today got an opportunity to experience the results. Replaced the worn out OEM rear tire with a Bridgestone T30 EVO, based on what I saw on this forum. Has a nice roll in, solid traction. Took advantage of the Sargeant seat promo and got the basic front seat. Really need to sit back to enjoy this. Impacts many other dynamics. Been accustomed to always sitting forward. Need more "saddle time" to fully discern the benefit. Seat is firmer than OEM, but comfortable, especially if you sit back in the saddle. Spent quite a bit of time messaging with @VCYCLENUT.com about exhaust options for the FJ. Finally went with the Hindle with his ECU flash. WOW!!!! Even with the limited conditions (SE Michigan spring and (lack of) terrain), the responsiveness and smoothness is leagues beyond the OEM. Everything that was good about the CP3 is magnified. Fantastic grunt down low, quick rev to redline, smooth, effortless response, "tearing silk" exhaust note, are all greatly enhanced! I briefly sampled STD and B modes, but otherwise stayed in A. So smooth, so responsive. See no reason to go back to the other two modes again. Then I lucked out getting a Penske 8983 via an FZ-09.com private sale. It was originally for an FZ for someone "about 205 lbs" (about 20 lbs less than me) and was Stoltec Tuned!!!. I bought it from the second owner who also had an FZ and had done a couple of track days. So far, I made one minor adjustment to compression and it is fantastic. Life is good!
  5. Hey @cha0s, did you ever make the mod's? If so, how did it work for you?
  6. As was already asked, what model is this? Is it available in the US? Any idea as to the weight reduction(hopefully)?
  7. I gotta say the only time the FJ's seat bothered me was towards then end of a 260 mile out trip I took. But, I race bicycles and if you've seen the seats on those, well... you get the idea. I now have 60 miles on the XSR and it definitely is comfortable. I plan to do some longer rides this weekend to help eat up the break-in miles. Hey cman, are you saying you got an XSR-09 in ADDITION to your FJ-09? A) Wayyyyy jealous B) What's the comparison? FJ better longer rides, XSR better city and Both equal but in different ways in the twisties????? The CP3 is such a visceral motor, it seems it would lend itself to many applications. ( I had a 2014 FZ. Replaced it with the FJ. Both are extremely engaging. The FZ was most notable for its light weight (415 full tank), but the suspension was calibrated for someone under 175 #'s. FJ has a great instrument cluster, center stand, ABS & TC and the suspension is firmed up, but could be better. Both move through twisties quite enjoyably ) The "slipper clutch" looks interesting (never had one), but not really liking the reduced info cluster and no center stand of the XSR. Tell us more. Please......
  8. That puts us about a hour apart. Have you ridden in the Pinckney area? I haven't, but understand there is supposed to be some enjoyable routes around there. It seems like it might be optimum to meet up out there and take a ride? I've been trying to make that happen.
  9. I also went with the KTM "style" hand guards. Got them off ebay for less than $30. They work great! Much better than the stock guards. However, I've rotated the bars forward and found that they would collide with the GIVI D2122S screen I recently got. I had to rotate the bar a little rearward and all is well. The KTM guards are far better than the stockers, that are much too far forward of the bar/controls.
  10. Where abouts in SE MI? I'm just North of Toledo. Got my grey from HondaEast January last year. This spring is moving along much better than last year. Been for a ride once already. Would've been twice, but was ill for the most recent warm up 8( Welcome!
  11. I used the Xcreen deflector with the stock screen. It made a nominal, but noticeable, reduction in the noise level. It was not sufficient for my liking and I'm still investigating some alternatives. I've used the deflector mounted to the screen base, as well as trying an FZ-1 "Double Bubble" with some fabbed brackets (with and without the deflector). So far the best (least bothersome) was just the deflector. I'm 6' with a 32-33" inseam and ride with the seat in the upper setting.
  12. Bunyip. What I meant by "How does it work?" is how is the "roar"? Or are you one of the fortunate ones that don't seem to have that issue?
  13. That's the low cost FZ-6 replacement screen? Looks OK. How does it work?
  14. So if I hit another deer I'll stay on the bike? That sounds much better! Sounds like you hit a small one, that's good. Better would be avoiding completely. Do you want my username? I've actually hit 3 too, but 1 was with a car. Seriously, very happy that you avoided hitting the pavement. Well done! What's with all the jihadist deer? Same thing happened to me on my FZ. Definitely didn't stay on the bike though. Glad you fared so well. Maybe you should consider buying a few lottery tickets.
  15. This sounds quite intriguing. Looking forward to the pics. Currently, I'm seriously contemplating the KTM hand guards that doctore777 recommended.
  16. ABS only applies to stopping. Shouldn't be an issue for a burnout. Traction Control however, will likely need to be turned off. Let us know how it goes.
  17. Race Blu would be one more if they sold it here in the States. I've had to find ways of adding blue. So far just rim tape and a bit on the side panels. I'm looking to add braided (blue) brake lines next.
  18. Because they want you to buy one next year when they bring it in as a "model update" Then in 2017 they will bring along other gadgets from the Super Tenere & FJR, like electronic cruise control. All to make last year's model obsolete. Cynic, moi? But I'll have already farkled my current FJ and not likely I'd start over again. Unless another jihadist deer gets me, again.
  19. I've done a few things in the past several days. 1 - installed an MRA Xcreen Sport in an effort to alleviate the loud wind roar. Unfortunately, of limited benefit. 2 - replaced the pumpkins w/ some cheap China ebay LED signals and relay. Much nicer to look at. 3 - added wheel stripes and used a bit of the left over on the side panels. Adds a nice bit of color. Although the tape didn't go on the rims anywhere near as nice as it shows in the videos. I really miss the Blurple wheels of my FZ. I don't understand why Yamaha won't bring the Race Blu to the States. =( http://i.imgur.com/bT2zwiz.jpg http://i.imgur.com/W4KrirT.jpg http://i.imgur.com/7byT5QN.jpg
  20. I believe someone else did. I recall seeing the pictures. I'll look around for it.
  21. Wish I could have. It's not available here. Got the gray instead. Looking to add blue rim tape and some other blue farkles.
