  1. Oh man.... no way it will work? Not in any way I felt inclined to try. I considered two master links, or smaller sprockets, but... Bought another chain.
  2. Today I woke up at 4am, couldn’t go back to sleep, and quickly proceeded to cut my new chain one link short. ?
  3. Changed oil, washed the bike, noted a couple tight spots on the chain and torn rings, and ordered ANOTHER revised clutch cable. It hasn't failed yet, but I've had to move the adjuster out quite a bit in the last week...
  4. I bet it was. Probably a sketchy around the 60 and 215! Seems they did not design that interchange for rain. Just sits on the freeway with nowhere to go. Just deep puddles and confused drivers because they can't see the lanes. Yeah, the rain did not improve that interchange at all ?
  5. Had to run up to Riverside from Temecula today. The lane splitting was a little soggy and more exciting than usual.
  6. I’m looking forward to reading about your experience from the change. Did you notice high speed instability beforehand, was that your motivation for the adjustment? I've never noticed any crazy instability, but I don't often find myself going more than 90. That said, from my limited riding experience the bike did tend to feel a little light up front at that speed and higher. Briefly hit triple digits this morning, and while not entirely solved it definitely felt more planted. I'd go so far as to say it even felt better around 60. Tomorrow I'll get some sustained 90mph stretches in and will have a better impression. Someday I'll actually get around to getting decent suspension though, and I imagine that will be as close to a magic bullet as I'll get.
  7. I've been running my Motodynamic tailight for over 2 years now with no issues (through some heavy rains at times too)... hopefully it was just a fluke. I’m hoping so. They were quick to send me a replacement after I wasn’t able to dry it out. Almost like it had a bad seal around the lense, letting in moisture when it was cold and sealing it in when warm.
  8. Took the (10mm) plunge! Excited to try it out on the Monday commute. Also swapped my Motodynamic taillight with a warranty replacement. The unit I got this summer ended up with moisture trapped in it, so they sent me a replacement. Just gave it a quick rinse and it looks to be moisture free, so kudos to those guys.
  9. I'd love to hear your impressions of the pegs. I'm looking for new ones, and those caught my eye (in blue, of course).
  10. Mine usually stays at full untill 85-90 miles, 100 if I’m being good. It does start to drop a lot faster after that.
  11. I removed the foam when I did the flash, but can’t say I noticed anything related to the foam. Everything was so different after the flash though, it’d be impossible for an amature like me to tell ?
  12. Can you elaborate a bit? I have the risers rotated to the forward position, but still appear to have about an inch of clearance before the stock bars contact anything. I’m thinking about machining an extra pair of stock risers to take about 3/4” off the bottom, to get the bars as low as I can without inference. I’m fine with the bend of the stock bars, just want the whole setup a bit lower. I just rolled the bars in the mounts (towards me) until I minimized the full lock clearance. It's not too drastic of an angle, and I've still got about a half inch of clearance. Of course that means the controls are back towards me after moving the bars forward. Full lock, left and right
  13. You can drop the numbers even further if you wish, I originally dropped mine to 14, a few days later I dropped further to 12. I may give that a try the next time I've got panels off.
  14. Yesterday I did the APS adjustment, and rotated the handlebar risers to the forward position. Old APS numbers were 17/101 and 16/100. New numbers are 14/98 and 13/97. It definitely had an impact. It wasn't a magic bullet, but I ride A mode exclusively, so STD is probably perfect now. I'm not complaining; between the 2WDW flash and the APS adjustment, A mode is an absolute riot. @piotrek has a great walkthrough on doing it here Enjoying the new bar position as well. Moved forward, and dropped them as low as possible while still clearing the tank trim.
  15. Re-torqued the front sprocket nut. Lubing my chain this morning it sounded loose. It was. ? I suppose that’s what I get for reusing the nut and staking it poorly.
  16. Try it without luggage. If I’ve got cases on my bike and let go of the bars when coming up to a light, there’s a slight shake. Doesn’t happen without the cases.
  17. Eh, I reckon he has a fair bit left on there. Here's a pick of mine after I changed them, I dug in to see how much was left until the cords... these carried me 13k miles. Still looked like a decent bit of rubber left in the middle How much psi you got in those tires? Maybe lower the pressure a bit I bet you can get many more miles out of those tires. It was way high. I usually run it around 34psi in town and for fun, and bump it up to 38 when touring with luggage. Elevation change apparently pushed it to 43 though, and there was some extended time at high speed in a straight line. It might be good to go farther, but it has a bunch of tiny tears across the center that make me nervous. Second one of these tires I’ve seen do that, so I think I’ll try something else.
  18. Pulled off the rear wheel after a 2200 mile trip. I’m not an expert, but I think this one’s done. Gonna get some new rubber before the return journey.
  19. I’m curious how people even notice the buzzing with the distractions provided by the air hammer wind screen and the seat/wooden plank. I love my bike, I just can’t imagine the buzzing being an actual complaint compared to those.
  20. Oh, I washed mine today. Gotta keep those blurple wheels shiny.
  21. The flash is an absolute riot; you’re going to love it. I just about pooped myself the first time I took it through the canyons and discovered the excitement of reduced engine braking. ?
  22. Dropped the bike off for the 24k mile service, and told them to go ahead and do the valves as well. Guess I just gotta sit on the beach for today.
