  1. Sweet. Appreciate the link. We are well into the age of electronics and we all benefit from that is so many ways. Bikes today are smarter than most mainframes in the mid 70s. Why not bring more of that to the aid the rider? After all who’s ultimate controlling the the bike. More to come. And as always thanks for reaching out. I get more satisfaction out of this forum than I do out of my soon to be 21 year marriage. 7/19/1998.

  2. I'm working on a software motorcycle app that will bring another level of safety to maneuvering the streets via GPS devices.  I'm looking for an internal contact to reach out to find out what they require when developing apps specifically for their devices.  Figured i would start here first.

    Thanks

  3. Yup - in fact it's a combination of all the answers I got back.  I guess I was overly paranoid that day.  I hopped on a new 2020 the other day and ran the same test.  Yes, the Andreani cartridges move much more fluid and it's noticeably louder.

    Thanks for all the replies

  4. Had 5.8 beers last night and then realized I have 2 complete Yoshimura R77 exhaust systems. Not sure if you are aware but the R77 for the FZ and the FJ are actually different even though they share the same frame and engine. Big difference is the FJ R77 has a “welded” baffle, FZ has a screw.  Anyways proceeded to the wood shop and successfully drilled out the pin. “Happy Fathers Day”. Not a huge change, but adds the low and louder growl to what was already a sweet soundIng exhaust. And screens at 12.5krpms.

  5. Thanks for all the replies. Yes, it’s actually the fluid moving. Not sure why it jumped out to me as something I should be concerned about and why it was so loud that day. And yes, way louder than stock when it comes to pushing fluid though small holes.

Off topic: best pizza I ever had was from a place on Empire Blvd in Webster, NY. Right beside the frozen custard place (Abbott's I think). Love Webster!

We have something like 32 pizza joints in a 3 square mile area - we Webter-ites love the pie..  Cordell's Pizza i think is the place you are referring to -

It's just an optional purchase and or service they provide... But yeah, nothing special, just a cosmetic look...

Ah. Gotcha. Yes. Read about that before I had the beer. I think that’s only for the exhaust and not the header. However, beer has proven me incorrect and wrong at the same time.

Meaning dump what I have and add the new header?  I was never good with color, not to mention I’m slightly colorblind in the blue/green “Duetan” region. Lol. Truth.

Um I need glasses. Works and Worst are not the same. But due to beers I still confused.

No I would like a aftermarket exhaust. Coach Luciano I would like to know more about the exhaust can u text me 347-672-2358

Been texting all day with Joe. I have a  conundrum. New exhaust showed up today. Freshly manufactured. Babbitts warrantied my exhaust (I have another thread to update on the Babbitts warranty issue) and it came today. First, the placard now says Tracer and not FJ. A nit pick I know, but I was born the be particular. Second, and more conundrum-ish is the finish on the header. For some reason Yoshi went back to a silver power coat on the header.  Booo. I so much like the patina on the header what I have now. If baked in properly, it has a multitude of colors I don’t think I’ll get from the new one. I think I’m going to the header on, break it in properly and see what’s what. Either way, I’m thinking If Joe buys this bike he’s going to get a great deal on an exhaust. Babbitts did me a solid, I’m passing on the favor when I land on something.

    Thoughts anyone.

  11. Um. I may in fact have just that. I’m receiving a new full Yoshi exhaust to replace a warranty header issue I had. Long story short Babbitt’s does not want my original (600 miles on original) exhaust back. The warranty issue was a small hole in the header weld. Nothing that could not be easily fixed, yet something that deserved a warranty swap. The system was basically brand new. I live in Webster NY, so shipping would not kill you. I should have it in the next two days. I’m still not fully convinced I want to part with it, but if your interested let me know. It’s a full R77 system. Sounds really nice.

Good to know that TCS actually workie.

Now that I’m thinking about it, I had a Ducati 969 try to loose me on a local highway exchange and he pulled me through a corner at speeds much higher than I’ve had this bike carving. Trusted the bike and myself and he never dumped me. However, how does the rider know if TCS hits on a high speed corner? I almost want to test it out at slow speeds so I know what it is if I hit it at much higher speeds.

I’m going to get a video with sound (obviously) posted. I ride too fast to have an unknown possible issue  in my front shocks.  I’m not a huge fan of either Yamaha dealer near me especially when it comes to stuff like this.  I’ve learned more on this site than any one general dealer mechanic has in the brain matter area when it comes to the -09

Now that I think about it idiot Lucky Luciano,  no speed is good with potential front suspension issues.

  15. Question, I have upgraded cartridges in my front shocks been riding them for probably 3k miles. They work great especially with the 535 rear shock. Sitting still and grabbing the front brake and pulling up hard on the handle bars the back down, shocks are smooth as hell, but I hear small clunks when I do that. Wondering if it’s normal.  knowing what is inside the the shock tubes I’m struggling to figure out what is causing it. I’m not overly concerned, unless I hear otherwise for the folks here. Andreani inserts. Any insight would be worth a beer or two.

Thanks for all the replies! I previously had a Kawasaki klr 650 and the fan was very loud and ran for a bit after you shut the bike off. My guess is the fan never ran from day one as i’ve Never heard it. I will start checking, starting with easy and going from there.

You can get into diagnostics and hit the fan relay test - it will cycle the fan on and off 5 times.  You will be able to clearly tell of your fan is coming on.  I'm not home, so I can't give you the exact directions, but I have also had issues with the fan and used diagnostics extensively to test.

    Shoei RF-1200

Had a Shoei Qwest before this and love how that brand fits my head.

Ignore the price tag - I bought mine in January at the bike show and paid less. 🙂

The matte finishes on helmets has come a long way - they are so simple to keep clean.

**Interestingly cool addition: I have a Healtech Quickshifter fitted, in the event of using lets say 2nd gear and cruise set to 30mph (so the revs are higher than my set minimum for shifter)  shifting up without clutch kills the cruise as it's also piggybacking the tach signal.. I rolled on some throttle and shifted buttery smooth into 3rd 4th 5th etc etc

Tell me you opinion on the healtech QSer?  I've been eyeing them for a while as they do not require any ECU connectivity.  I have an Ivans flashed ECU and he no allow for a QS/ECU integration.

Let me know how that works at speeds above 110mph assuming you entertain those speeds. I’m a huge believer of aerodynamics and have always been cautious of adding anything to my bike that will have an aero effect at high speeds. In fact on my ‘15 I’ve been removing anything that I believe has caused unwanted aerodynamics at high speed. I have found the formula. :)

if that nose provides actual downforce at speed, that is that is a huge win.

@texscottyd @maximosure. Give me a day or so to take some pictures to best describe why this is a no brained swap. Lol.

It’s really hard to show the original handlebar vs the Rizoma. Every time I try I realize it does not provide a true representation of how different the two are. Hopefully these pictures will help.  Way better for me and my riding style. Add to that, not unexplained shakes over 90 since I dropped the bar ends, bar, and mirrors. All really good things to wreak havoc at high speeds.

Don't forget the splitters if you want to use with the stock turn signals. I  used both and so I didn't need the relay. I'm guessing that if you use an aftermarket turn signal or eliminate the stock signals you'll need to use the relay. I ordered LED turn signals from TST today so I'll know the answer to that shortly.  Where in NH are you. I work for a  company in Salem NH but not at that location.

I just ordered on myself yesterday.  Should have it Wednesday.  After all the money I have spent bringing this bike up to my standards, this purchase was a no-brain-er.
