  1. I'm in the UK and went the other way, traded my Tiger 800XRT in for a new 2020 Tracer GT. Before doing so I test rode the Tiger 900GTP with a serious thought to buying one. Lovely bike, as was the 800, but I found two negative points. The engine was a bit rougher than the creamy smooth 800 and the screen was smaller, giving less weather protection and increased wind blast. Since comfort is a priority at my age, I voted against the new Tiger. Helping me to reject the Tiger was the fact that the Triumph dealer offered me a lousy px deal. The new Tigers were in very short supply then, back around June, so they had no need to make bargains. So I went to the Yam dealer, tested the Tracer 900GT and was blown away by the engine performance, the looks of the bike and its overall appeal. Sure the stock screen is crap as everyone says, so I've replaced it with an MRA Vario and the comfort is now there. And what clinched the deal was the decent px offer so I went with the Yam.
  2. I'm in the UK. As said, bugs on the screen or body panels, lights etc. come off with plain water. I lay wetted paper towels over the area, leave for a bit then remove and dispose. This softens the splats which are then easier to gently rub off. There's always one or two stubborn critters though which persist and require repeated applications or possibly a mild cleaning fluid in the worst cases. Here's an example of one such which does the job: Sainsbury's online Grocery Shopping and Fresh Food Delivery I have a 2020 red and black Tracer 900 GT (which strangely, Yam call "black"). The red areas are gloss and so any decent wax type car polish works fine. For the black matte areas I use this, a specially designed matte "polish". The advice from makers is never to use normal gloss polishes on matte finishes. S100 Matt Wax Spray - 250ml - SPORTSBIKESHOP S100 Matt Wax Spray - 250ml from the UK's leading online bike store. 3. I'm in the UK and bought my Tracer 900 GT new a few weeks ago. I confirm that it comes with three keys, the red and two black ones. I don't know where you are based but if anywhere near High Wycombe in Bucks, there's an excellent Yamaha dealer there, Powerbiking. http://www.powerbiking.co.uk/
  4. I also have the Chinese one, in black, bought from the Ali site a few weeks ago. Took a couple weeks to arrive. It fits perfectly and works very well. Taking the advice here, I added a smear of Loctite blue to the screws to prevent them vibrating loose. Another thing I did was wipe the sidestand foot all around with ACF50 before fitting the plate on to it. I think water could find its way inside the new plate and stay there, promoting rusting of the steel sidestand lower area which probably wouldn't be noticed whilst covered by the new plate.
  5. I'm in the UK and have been using S100 Matt Wax which as the name says, is a wax protector specially for matt finishes. As you say, you must not use normal polishes on matt. Similarly, this product should not be used on gloss. https://www.sportsbikeshop.co.uk/motorcycle_parts/content_prod/502885 Seems to work well and I like it because it is a wax, yet preserves the matt finish. SDoc are a well known German maker of a variety of lubes, cleaners and polishes etc.
  6. Thanks for the reply, that's worth knowing. My dealer said that the heated comfort seat is the same height as the non heated one.
  7. I dislike a lot of RAM mounts and those accompanying large contraptions to attach the phone. No offence to anyone but they're rather ugly in my view. I've been using a Quadlock bar mount for a couple years on my bikes, it's small, secure and fairly unobtrusive, even with the phone removed. https://www.quadlockcase.co.uk/collections/shop-moto
  8. Thanks for the response. Was hoping to hear from those here who had the Yam comfort seat as to how much higher in practice it raises the rider, but no luck it seems. I appreciate that this is very much a personal thing so that one person's experience may not suit another, even those of the same height, but would have been useful to hear some views. There's no rule in the UK about dealers giving a 15% or any particular discount in the first 30 days for accessories and it's up to each buyer to try and negotiate whatever deal they can, whenever they buy them. I've already ordered the foglights and rad guard to be fitted from new to the GT but as I said, am not sure about the comfort heated seat due to the increased height it creates. I don't mind the cost if it's going to work for me but don't want to risk £362 on something that may be unsuitable. In the absence of much guidance I'll probably do as you suggest and use the original seat for a while before deciding whether to go with the heated seat later. One query I have resolved, the h/seat switch is placed in the blank hole on the right side of the dash. Last bike was a Triumph Tiger 800xrt which had the heated seat as standard and I found that nice in cold weather. Also had a BMW RT in the past with that feature too. It's not essential of course, just adds to the bike's comfort.
  9. Anyone have any responses to my query above? The bike is on order but I'm considering adding the heated comfort seat to the order before delivery.
  10. Hi all, I'm in the UK and about to be a new owner, just ordered my GT after a good test ride. I'm ancient and have had loads of bikes over loads of years. Comfort is my over riding requirement in a bike these days, combined with decent performance and handling. I'm 5' 8", weight 70kg (11 stone/154lbs) and 30 inch inseam. Question is, how much taller is the Yamaha comfort seat than the standard? I've searched the forum and there seems to be some debate about it. My dealer said it's only a fraction higher and I shouldn't be concerned. However I can't flat foot with the standard seat on its lowest, though the degree of foot I can get down on both sides is acceptable to me. The comfort seat, and heated is available only in comfort not standard, is definitely higher but is it likely to be acceptable for me as far as anyone knows? It's quite a lot of money to lay out only to find that it's unsuitable. I realise there is another benefit to the comfort seat in being more turned up at the tank end, and supposedly more comfortable generally if we can believe its title, but I would be getting it, if I do, primarily for the heating. Still on the heated seat, where is the switch positioned on the bike? Thanks
