  1. Hi everyone! Has anyone just changed the springs in the front and back to match their respective weight and been satisfied with just doing that. I lean towards 195lbs without gear and plan on taking some road trips with gear loaded and don’t think the current spring rate is sufficient. I also don’t believe with my riding style that I need some high zoot suspension set up. I’ve never ridden with anything but stock suspension so maybe it’s good that I don’t know what I’m missing.

Close to 50F degrees and partly cloudy today... time to go for a ride!!!  Lots of twisty forest and farmland roads, still several months away from riding in the mountains but for the first week of February- I'm not complaining.

Just got back from a great one myself!

They are not new to me, been around forever.

Worse for me is riding my favorite roads and all of the sudden you find they've tar and chipped the road. Even worse is when they do the road you live on and you can't avoid it.

I'm convinced that surface wears tires out faster also.

Yep! Definitely soiled my pants once turning a bend and discovering they just laid down a fresh layer of chipseal. Be careful out there. That was when I was young and stupid. Now I’m just old and dumb.

Ha! Yes, it's only wet and 39 degrees for 5 months. Then it is wet and 45. Wet and 50. Wet and 55. Wet and 60. Shoot, we even get the occasional summer monsoon. I was once sailing up in British Columbia, near Texada Island, in August, and my Buddha that storm was blowing SE 35 knots and hailing peanut M&M size ice in a torrential deluge of easily 1" of precip in 20 minutes. We sure do get our rain out here don't we!

I also try and ride every day in the PNW. I stay nice and dry in my little cocoon (klim goretex).

Here in the Puget Sound area they are everywhere. Just tar. Doesn't get too hot here, normally, but they are slick in all the winter rain we get. It was a tar snake on my daily commute that made me replace the stock front tire immediately. Since much of the country can't ride in the winter much, I think us here in PNW are rare in that we can ride all winter but it is 39 degrees and wet for 5 months.

I rode today for an hour or so, and was dry and warm, only because of wearing $1,000 of clothes, and having heated gear and grips, on a bike with Road 5 tires and knowing how to hit corners at what speed and lean angle. Crazy what you have to do and know to ride all winter here.

“Wet for 5 months”? I’ll take that and raise you another 4 months. 😀

Some motorcycles' vibrations are known to kill the image stabilization of some mobile phones from Apple to Android. What works for me is the Quad Lock vibrations damper, with a Quad Lock case and rain cover. No issues at all in the rain, as I also prefer using navigation apps such as Waze with real time traffic updates than using my Garmin GPS.

This! Had to get a new iPhone 11 after the camera went berserkers after a ride. Thankfully I had insurance. I will now be using a TomTom.
