dorrmann27
Hello, My name is Dustin and I've been riding for a few years. Bikes owned from beginning to now: 1993 Yamaha FZR-600 white, red and blue 2004 Yamaha YZF-R1 Yamaha blue(nasty bike) 2005 Yamaha WR450 (SuperMoto) 1999 Honda XR100 (flat track/road race) 2006 Yamaha YZF-600R 2015 Yamaha FJ-09 (Red, first ever 0 mile bike (or vehicle) purchased) Currently have a set of soft saddle bags mounted by Oxford; researching windscreens, tank bags, rear rack options for my iron rider bags, and finally want to hear if anyone has gone with an aftermarket seat on their FJ because I plan to ride 35 hours cross country to California in August and though it may not be horrible on the stock seat, I believe there is possibly a much better saddle to ride on! Any who I look forward to following a lot of posts and meeting some fellow FJ lovers. I've raced a little bit and the FJ is probably one of the baddest Street bikes I've ridden just because I feel like it is a large SuperMoto. And SuperMotos are bad ass if you haven't ridden one I highly recommend! Dustin

Premium Member 9rider Posted April 9, 2016 Premium Member Share Posted April 9, 2016 Im sure you will enjoy the bike. Just be aware... they are ticket magnets!! As a few here can attest! You might want to buy a good radar detector.. They have saved me getting a visit from Smokey several times... re: Seat concerns. I have used the same sheepskin pad I used on a 3 Week AK tour 7 years ago on 3 other bikes. It is a nice upgrade on a mediocer bike seat. Your buns will be a lot less tired after a long days ride. Premium Member wessie Posted April 9, 2016 Premium Member Share Posted April 9, 2016 The FJ/Tracer is a great bike but maybe not my dream bike. To ride my dream bike, which is probably not even made, I would need to morph into somebody with the physique and ability of Jorge Lorenzo. There are loads of posts and one big thread about the bike seat. I suggest you ride it first as some people seem to get on with the OE seat, including the chap who has racked up more miles than anyone else in the last 15 months. This signature is left blank as the poster writes enough pretentious bollocks as it is.
fj09excited
+1 on the sheepskin, I have used it on my KLR stock seat for the last 2 years. The KLR is now becoming an FJ-09 and the sheepskin will come along as well. Threw the skin on the stock seat of the KLR and rode all day long with minimal discomfort. Highly recommended, I got a rather large piece for free from a friend and it is on the same level as seats that cost hundreds of dollars, IMO. I am gonna die the white sheepskin to grey to match my FJ and use the stock seat. All day comfort, not hot, not cold. You will not be dis-satisfied.
