  1. I got my MT-09 yesterday and have been collecting parts for a few days. You all have been great and I wish you all the best with your Tracers. It's just hard to beat a new MT-09 for the price of a MT-07 OTD less TT&L.
  2. I couldn't find a deal on a 2022 Tracer. So I bought a base MT-09 in Matte Black Raven. A buddy of mine owns a dealer and has been waiting forever for a shipment. They are sending him a small selection of 2022 MT09's, motocross bikes and generators. No Tracers, MT10's or Tenere's. Bike should be at his dealer late next week. He gave me a great deal on the bike. Base MT-09 for the price of a MT-07. He's also going to supply a Akrapovic system, Power Commander, Case of Oil, 3ea. oil filter and crush washers a set of EBC front brake pads, Chain, Sprockets, Service Manual a set of tires. A few other odds and ends all for 5% above his cost. Got to order a Madstad fly and touring shield setup, slider kit and tail tidy from TST and pick up a matching helmet. Another buddy will put it on his dyno and tune it for a bottle of Oban Scotch. So I'm set! Wish I could of found a deal on a Tracer. But at $14.999, plus shipping, setup, doc fee, dealer markup a basic screwing with no lube,,, ain't happening. To be fair a local dealer did try with a OTD price of $14,699 on a Red Tracer. So if a red Tracer is to your liking give K & N Yamaha in Tulsa a ring. Jury is still out on the new owners of K & N. The old owners built the dealer and shop into a top 5 in the nation operation and kept it there for over 50 years. There is a whole bunch of us that miss Mr. & Mrs. McDonald. Merry Christmas to me! LMAO
  3. Sehorn had a red and silver used FJR. Was your old FJR one of them? One of them had like 70k miles on it. I really wish my 2022 FJR didn't come in freight damaged. If I had that bike I wouldn't be here right now. But that process did bring me to MT variant's as a purchase. But if Yamaha and Honda don't get there heads out of there you know what and start getting bikes built and moving on with R&D and engineering I'm going to blow them off completely. Kawasaki, Suzuki, BMW, Ducati, Aprilia, HD, Indian and others are getting there acts together and moving forward after the plandemic. But Yamaha, Honda, KTM and others seem to be hung in reverse with the throttle wide open. If I could find a 1290 Super Duke R for sale out the door at MSRP it would be bought. If you ever get a chance to ride one do it. There more fun than a barrel of monkeys on pcp.
  4. Getting older and riding has been interesting. I got my first Mini Trail when I was 6 years old. Had my motorcycle lic. in Arkansas at 13 years old. Fact is if I'm not riding death is preferable. Ride or die or die riding. Riding is so important to me. I'm only 61 but hard work and play has been devastating. And the last 5 years of work before I wagged finger and retired was brutal. I haven't ridden as much the last year as years past because of health issues also the wife got retired and went right into massive health issues of her own. So I've stayed very close to her and taking care of her. And she has been on the back of bikes with me for 30 years. Best passenger I've ever had. She's been on the back wheel well over 100 mph. She has been at 212 mph on a Busa out west casing the sunset. But a few years ago after a fast weekend at Bikes Blues and BBQ on a POS Harley M8 Road King she set me down and told me she had to retire from the real fast two up riding we had been doing for years. She is five years older than me and the fact is her brain could not keep up anymore. And that's where my brain is at now. I'm not a kid anymore and have to slow down. The body and brain aren't keeping up very well as quick and nimble as they use to.
  5. Yep it use to be a hell of a dealer! New owner sucks. I bought a few bikes from them over the years. But what they shined in was machine work, porting, head, crank work, engine builds and tuning. While it kind of got hard to get a good deal on bikes in Tulsa over all. K & N was the place to get YamaHammer Parts and really good pricing and combo deals. The Farr's was another good dealer and Vickie was the drag racing queen. And then there was Leroy and Bobby Winters in Fort Smith. We use to have some really great dealers across the country. And every one of them was a old school family owned operation. Now there useless collage boy, cooperate poo pits. Motorcycle culture IMHO as been pretty much destroyed by the useless poo pit boys.
  6. I was in Shawnee Tuesday and went by Sehorn and the Honda, Kaw, Suz Dealer. Sehorn only had used bikes in stock. But Shawnee Honda was trying to sell me a z900 and a few other bikes with pricing while still higher than I'm going to pay wasn't pure covid ripoff rape. Did you say you came off a FJR to get on the Tracer? I'm a big FJR fan. FJR is what started this wanting to buy a bike in 2022. With 2022 being the last year of production for FJR in the USA. I ordered a FJR from a buddy of mine that owns a Yamaha/Honda Dealer in Arkansas. Then it came in freight damaged to the point it was pretty much totaled. And that's the only 2022 FJR I've seen. ,,,, I've only seen one Tracer with a Okie tag on it. And I saw that bike on the Pig Trail in Arkansas back in the summer so it probably wasn't you. If you see a big lug dwarfing a Wing throwing a hand up to you on a blue Wing in Okiehoma it's probably me. As the new style Wings are still rare here. Good Luck!
  7. Sounds good! I see your in Okiehoma like me. I've been trying to buy any MT09 variant and not get screwed to death. K & N is now a dealer I want nothing to do with after a long relationship with the old owners. And Maxey makes me want to wear a body condom to be at the dealer or take a shower after chatting with them on the phone. Who did you by your bike from? I've got $20k cash setting here and if any of these dealers would deal I could very well buy a MT09 variant and a tenere 700. I really don't need a Tracer for touring. I have a 2018 Wing Tour 6MT for a sofa that will do wheelies. But it would be nice to have the Wing, a MT of some sort and a basic ADV bike in the stable. Kaw, Suz, Hon, BMW are honestly acting like they want to sell motorcycles. Suzuki is already getting 2023 bikes to dealers. But Yamaha can't seem to poo or get off the pot. Enjoy your Tracer and stay safe,,, Okies be trying to kill us in there cages.
  8. The NT1100 will be a typical Honda. Over priced, over weight and under powered. With bits of brilliance and a lot of stupidity hidden under the plastic origami. As a 2018 Wing owner I have no use for a baby Wing. I have the real deal and want to stable a fun, quick and capable bike with the best boring motorcycle I've ever owned. They even ruined the CB1000R with the same formula. Why buy any of the Hondas when Yamaha has MT-10/09 variants? I use to own and drive nothing but Honda cars and have owned many of there motorcycles. Still have my first one a 50 MiniTrail. It's almost like Honda does not want to build and sell motorcycles or cars anymore as they go to the cellar.
  9. Are they China, Japan or Euro produced?
  10. I don't see adaptive c.c. to be any kind of upgrade. I wouldn't want it on any variant of MT I will more than likely buy or on my Wing for that matter. And have no need what so ever to set c.c. at anything under hwy speeds and gears. The dash is fugly as hell on the Tracer. But I rarely if ever pay any attention to the dash when riding. I know how fast I'm going,,, the engine tells me what I need to know about rpm and a quick squiggle and I know my fuel load. I have no need of knowing the time or temp when riding. The saddle issue isn't a issue for me. I'm 6'3"/250 lb. and dwarf all motorcycles and there has never been a bike built that fits my bucket butt or frame. In the event I do secure a good deal on a Tracer the bar risers will be setup in the forward position, pegs in the lower setting with the seat in the high position and roll with it. As far as the snatchy throttle it's just the way it goes now days. And many of us in the old days tuned for a snatchy if not completely abrupt throttle. You should hear the Wingers complain about the abrupt nature of the throttle in Sport mode. They cry like little baby's about it. Some can't even skill up for Touring mode and piddle around in Eco mode be it a DCT or 6MT. For me any of the MT series of bikes are thrash about scooters. Fun, abrupt hell raising corner straitening rides. I embrace the rage a MT series bike would give me. That's the whole point of me wanting to buy one. I don't think for one min. a Tracer really is a sport touring bike at any level. That's FJR Yamaha is killing off.
  11. A Wing thread,,, lmao.... I own a 2018 Tour 6MT bought new in 2019. It's name and job description is "Wife Taxi". It's the best boring motorcycle I have ever owned. If my 2017 M8 POS RoadKing wasn't complete junk I would still be on it. Wing will eat miles like a kid eats candy and it is smooth and comfortable for the most part. But it's not perfect or even near perfect. Somethings you just don't learn about until you own the product. It's almost as if Honda does not want to build motorcycles or cars anymore and would prefer marketing there intellectual property, robots and jets now days. I test rode and had loaner 2018 Wings while going through all the never ending death throws with my M8 King. My dealer is a Harley, Honda, Suzuki multiline dealer. So I had exposure to Wing from launch day. And like many I got duped by Hondas marketing and all the claims of Wing super powers and reliability. I rode DCT's and 6MT's so I knew hands down I wanted the slipper clutch 6MT. If your carving up two lanes and grinding pegs the DCT will lock you out of fast multi-gear down shifts when you blow by Jesus as a brake marker if you want to back the big girl into a corner. At that point manual mode is no help. Being a dual clutch there is no slipper clutch function. And in my minds eye that possible lock out is why the Wing has such good brakes for a bike of it's size. They are impressive! And front end dive during hard/panic braking is controlled very good because of the geometry of the multilink up front. And Hondas Pro-arm out back while not the best for handling over all, shaft jack is controlled pretty darn good. But Honda knowing they could get away with being half assed ruined the suspension. There is no preload adjustment on the front shock and all it has for damping control is 1980's single point damping control in predefined BS Honda settings. That's cross tied together between the modes which are kind of BS and rear shock preload. So the bike can become out of balance suspension wise front to rear if you over do the rear preload and still have front suspension that can bottom out on a very small bump,,, really strange. Or the bike can get to porpasing(sp) on expansion joint cuts on the freeway or interstate because the front and back don't have a clue what the other is doing and gets out of sync. And one has to dig around in the old outdated navi menu system to change some settings. I like to turn off tq. control and adjust some of the nanny settings which is a pain to start with and then when you kill the bike and start it back up all the settings revert back to nanny/default. The Wing is underpowered pretty bad. To be kind lets just say it's 125hp/125tq at the crank give or take a couple of either here or there. A K1600, big bore Harley or Indian Challenger will eat it alive. They all have there pro and con's. But Honda knows how to build reliable, good mpg, epa/euro trash spec shattering greenie weenie internal combustion engines and they left there best tech out of the Wing. And locked it down as a turd motor. Kind of a bummer. Fit and finish is not very good on the 6th gen Wings either. Paint is very thin, extremely soft some trash in the paint and other issues. I've seen these production issues in every 6th gen Wing I've looked at closely. With very tacky decals for pinstripes and accents. Great looking bike at 20',,, tacky at 5'. Yeah it's a sign of the times but Honda could have done far better on a so called Halo bike. And the biggest gaf concerning Wing is the horribly outdated and PITA navi, audio, bluetooth, usb system. Honda went and pulled completely outdated tech out of the tech trash can concerning this system. The navi dates back to Honda car navi's of the mid 2000's less the dvd base map system with even less over all function than the old car navi systems. The bluetooth version is 2.1+edr which went obsolete in 2007 along with the out of date usb 2.0 which went obsolete in 2008. It's all very very old tech with no hope for use in the future. Sena and Cardo are going to stop putting dual radio's in there systems at some point and then Wing owners will be out of luck. So the end result is a overly complicated slow and very out of date tech system Honda should have to fall on there sword over. And no wifi to update the navi system or other software on the bike. It's more out of date than my 2018 simple low cost 2018 Ford Fusion SE. Honda reliability,,, well,,, it's not what it use to be. Started seeing the decline in Honda cars in reliability and over all quality of engineering, thus the 2018 Fusion purchase instead of a Accord or Civic of which I've owned many of. A 4th gen Accord EX was the best car I ever owned and quality kept slipping until I could no longer buy there cars with the last 2009 Civic being a major let down. My Wing is not a all weather touring bike. I've had issues with the electric windshield getting dirty because of riding in the rain and not functioning right. Resulting in pulling the fairing completely apart and having to clean the unit out of road grit and grime. Handle bar switch gear has been a issue. 6MT's are known to have the clutch switch's go bad that cause a Hill Start Assist error. There is also a cruise control switch they call it that can fail and cause issues. It's a interlock switch that effects the cruise control, but not part of the cruise control switch set,,, go figure. Front brake switch can go bad as well as the side stand switch and rear brake light switch. I've also had issue with the start stop switch getting dirty and having to clean it out of road grime and relube. And as of late the finale drive unit has started to leak. Bike only has 13k miles on it. So it's got to go in and have the min. of a finale drive unit seal replaced or the the whole unit. I bought a 5 year Honda extended warranty after lving with the bike. So I will let Honda deal with the leaking finale drive. With none of this being isolated issues. Honda knows about all of them. The low mileage for a 2018 bike is not because I don't like riding the bike. It is a one of a kind. I get the pleasure of riding a lot of bikes. Friends, family, loaners or refreshing bikes I built and sold on to other people come back to me, some for extended stays I ride. And the reason I joined this forum is because I'm more than likely going to by a 2022 Tracer GT or a MT-09 variant as a personal short hop play bike and keep the Wing as a Grand Tourer/Wife Taxi after all it still have 5 years of warranty. I would never pay MSRP or anything close to MSRP for any motorcycle and Wing is no exception. Honda half assed far to much stuff on the 6th gen Wing. I paid $18k cash for my 2018 new with 1 mile June of 2019 and it's not worth a cent more. But good value for money at $18k. Many and most Wingers think I hate the bike. Which is not true at all. I've just owned a lot of motorcycles and have spent more money on bikes than most sane people in my life and am very critical and keep a very close eye on manufactures engineering, design, production identities and results. I still have my first gas powered two wheeler a Honda 50 MiniTrail in Yellow/White I got Christmas of 1968. I have a soft spot for Honda but they have slipped and offer nothing at all that I want to purchase to stable with the Wing or park in my driveway anymore. Kind of sad. Yamaha is another story. I've owned RD 350's/400's, RZ 350's/500's, FJ's/FJR's and a few big twins with Patrick Racing engine work. So a MT-09 variant sounds fun!
  12. Isn't there a ECU recall/updated flash to take care of dying, idle and surge issues on 2021 bikes?
  13. All of it! When it comes to motorcycles and riding them SoCal is the best in the USA if not the world. Every type of motorcycling, motorcycles, people, parts, engineering, riding and racing is there.
  14. I lived in Fountain Valley and Huntington Beach from 1975 to 1980. Saw the writing on the wall and got the hell out. I was just about to close on my very first home purchase in Costa Mesa. My gut told me this place ain't right. Killed the deal and went back to Arkansas. The only thing I have missed at all is the bike culture.
  15. Had a Doc. appointment yesterday so we took the Wing to town and swung by a couple local dealers. Ended up being a 200 mile or better day taking the long way everywhere we went. The Yam dealer has had the Icon/silver/black/blue T9GT for almost 8 weeks on the sales floor. They have already lost there ass on the bike in this so called sellers market. With the red T9GT going on the sales floor this Thursday. It was 106F here yesterday and no bikes were out. And there was absolutely no traffic at all at the dealer on a Friday afternoon, few bikes in the shop and the dyno cell was open. The only person that came through the dealer the hour we were there was some sot that didn't understand how to install a get back whip on his old 1700 worn out Star big twin. There MSRP or anything close to it sales window has ended regardless of china flue BS. Under the original ownership I bought at least 7 or 8 new bikes from them since 1982 and a pickup truck load of jugs, heads, exhaust systems, machine work and dyno time. As we were hanging out in the shop the sales lady came back and looked like she was going to tell us no customers in the shop,,, ins. reasons you know. But she caught us looking at a pallet of parts with tags on them with PSY written on them. The parts manager told the sales lady this is PSY he owns all these parts. This is the cat we pay a commission to when we sell any of these parts. I looked at her and told her my names in your system and my offer stands and it is the most I will pay OTD. Don't bother calling with a so called counter offer or my number goes down. She spun around and went back to the empty sales floor. I'm not mean about this but there has never been a car, truck or motorcycle worth MSRP,,, none! My money is always worth more than your product. It's not a emotional thing and you will never hear me say I love this bike. I love my wife, kids, family and friends. Not machines. It's just a motorcycle and business.
  16. I stopped at a dealer today and tried to buy a 2022 Tracer 9 GT. There out the door price all in was $15,299.00. They had a Icon and Red one. Only new bikes they had on the showroom floor. I offered $13k cash got the money on me and they wouldn't take it. I've known the parts manager for 30 years. His parents use to own the dealer. Parts manager and I went to the shop for a drink and smoke. He told me he only stayed on to help the new owner out and he is about to retire sell his FJR and race bikes,,,, buy a Wing and try to forget about the good old days. He said if mom and dad still owned the dealer they would not have let you leave without one of those bikes. He then called his parents and I got to have a chat with them. The good thing about that conversation they still own a all original RZ350 yellow/black I've tried to buy from them a 100 times. The old dealer owners told me today if one of the boys does not buy it from them. They will sell it to me!!! But no T9GT today...
  17. I looked at one weekend before last. And I left it setting. They look better in pictures. They wanted $15k for it on a bike with a MSRP of $13149.00. I saw a absolute max price bike of $10k all in and not a cent more. Did nothing for me and I have owned a lot Suzuki's in my life.
  18. Well this grey head has not ran up the prices on motorcycles. I've never paid anywhere near MSRP for bike. And I won't do it now china flue or what ever excuse the stealers want to use. My money is always worth more than there wares. I'm cooking a few stealers right now. I have pics of the vins and know how long they have had the bikes in stock. So if some fool wants to pay MSRP, plus shipping, setup fee's and stupid doc fee's so be it,,, Will Not Be Me... I paid $18k OTD plus TT&L for my Wing. And before that only $13k OTD For the POS 2017 M8 Roadking I had before the Wing. And lets be clear... BMW has never,,, I repeat has never made a motorcycle or car as reliable as a Honda anything. There known to break as much as Harleys and cost twice as much to fix. The only way I will buy a BMW is if the bike is discounted and a free BMW extended warranty is thrown in. Same with Spaghetti and Brit bikes.
  19. While I don't have a T9GT yet. I do have to deal with the *(&^*@(@#&^&* Okie Turnpike Auth and there ()&%@^Y$$%# Pikepass. On the Wing I throw the off white crap tech brick in the trunk and forget about it. I know the MT-09 has a tray under the saddle which is where I would put one on that bike. Not so sure about the T9GT. Maybe paint it semi gloss black and mount it above the goof troop inst. cluster. You do have to have one for every vehicle.
  20. As I dive deeper into the realm of possibly buying a new Tracer GT to stable with my 2018 Wing. I hope the Tracer GT brakes aren't weak. While the back brake on the Wing is on the weak side and I'm ok with that as I don't use it much because there linked brake kaka. The fronts are monsters! My Wing didn't respond much to EBC's if at all. The Honda pads were really pretty good and the slipper clutch is the real deal. When on the Wing and blowing by Jesus as a brake marker the slipper clutch and front brakes really do haul the 855 lb. behemoth down really well. DCT's don't do that so well and can lock you out of massive downshifts even in manual mode because there is no slipper function.
  21. Hate to read this as I'm in the market right now at this awful time in motorcycle history for a new fun bike to stable with my 2018 Wing Tour 6MT. The Tracer 900 GT is at the top of my list right now along with the MT-09 SP. Same bikes different trim. But the Tracer seems to be a better choice as a convertible. And a more fun bike to ride over to Arkansas to run the PIG Trail or other fun twisties. Had my name on a 2022 FJR but it came in freight damaged in May and the morons at Yamaha still haven't shipped the needed repair parts. Then I read this thread and I'm like,,, " Do I even want a Yamahammer anymore ". Flat spot and recall,,, wtf is wrong with Yamaha? Then throw in weak brakes and a few other customer complaints that are not historically Yamaha traits, the questioning begins. None of the YouTube reviews from all over the world bring any of these issues to the forefront. Well,,, except the windshield. I've had Yamahammers for years dating back to RD350/400, RZ350/500, Big Bore FJ's and FJR's, Warrior, Strat and a few others most bought new. And have avoided the tranny issues with the FJR's and Big Twins. After reading around forums my simple brain is starting to think possible a BMW R1250RS or heaven forbid a evil thug life Ducati Motard. But seeing I've never owned a modern BMW or Duc of the computer age that has some fear. And knowing how awful the Euro bike dealers are in my part of the world are,,, those could be bad purchases. And Honda as nothing I want. the NT1100 looks to be as boring and soul killing as my Wing. Wing is a good bike and is without a doubt the best boring motorcycle I have ever owned. In the end it's just a half*** effort on Hondas part being under powered, over weight, outdated navi and bluetooth system with great suspension geometry with bad dynamics and control. And the linked brakes curse. It's like Honda really does not want to build bikes or cars anymore. I gave up on Honda cars as they got way over priced and extremely boring with reliability on the slide downward. Sorry for the ramble.
