  1. Caution is always a good choice. I received this from tuneboy: Hi I can change the default start mode but I think it is better to modify the default start mode so it is the new better mode, that way you still have the A and B modes. The STD mode is the one that will have the lean angle stuff The first two graphs below show the leaned over throttle v the upright throttle, x-axis is the amount you move the grip, Y-axis is the amount the throttle plate will move. You can see the leaned over one moves the throttle plate slower. The next three show default STD mode, A and B modes, you can see that B only gives 70% throttle. Speed limit is done by backing off the throttle in higher gears, I have removed this. In my last email I think I forgot to say that all our prices are in AUD, this means the $399 AUD price will only be about $299 USD with the current exchange rate. If you want to pass the info I have sent on to others this is fine with me. Thanks Wayne I like the explanation and see of the features but I am done being a beta tester. As of right now I don't absolutely need anything for my bike so I personally will wait for some feedback.
  2. I also didnt notice removing the speed limiter and editing default drive mode. I want the CC feature but also would like power increases and fuel delivery smoothing for better response. I received the same email from them and have sent back asking for clarification on the other items.
  3. nothing specific right now but they run pretty great close-outs and also sell used stuff for customers. They take offers on the used stuff, which quite often is open box stuff from retailers. I picked up a nice leather jacket for $80 http://www.motorcyclegear.com/
  4. it was years before i even got comfortable with the front tire lifting. the first time it comes up and your heading towards a curve and notice truning the wheel is doing nothing under high acceleration... then your having fun
  5. Please do. It's not a mission critical piece where someone would get hurt but if your going to sell it on this forum testing is a must. Your second link to the tool leads to an FJR1300 tool page, they may be identical, but this one leads to the socket listed for the FJ: FJ09 Socket Tool
  6. PLA isnt that strong a material. What torque are you putting on this thing?
  7. I turn the TC off any time I am riding for fun not distance. The front end will consistently power the front end up in 1st, 2nd and sometimes third gear depending on how hard I am hitting it. That being said I have only once brought the front end far up. Usually just get some hangtime about 1-2 ft. I love that feeling, but I am terrified of the full balance point wheelie. I like my bike to much and in my mind I just see the thing flipping over and crushing my chest everytime it gets anywhere near a full wheelie, definitely gets the heart pumping.
  8. wow, got my vision all fuzzed up for some reason.... beautiful story, says a lot about the power of joy and love to make what time we have the most vital.
  9. So, sure, you could ride on that patched tire but it all really depends on what type of oil you use...
  10. i remember the first time I had a $200 tire that picked up a nail 10 miles in.... sigh, good times for years I followed the rule of no plugged tires. Then I got tired of buying new tires. Never had a failure of a plug other than to continue a slow leak.
  11. all of the northwest rocks. Been all over out here from Death Valley To Jasper in Canada and endless weekend rides through Oregon and Washington. This is peak country for long rides with limited interruption. Its all pretty much a big win over the east coast where every piece of land is privately owned. I'm originally from Brooklyn, NY and have lived all over, this is the best. Whatever you do DONT move here Now back on topic, I hated the stockers and removed them after 4k miles. At that point my rear was fairly tore up and since I didnt like them I went for a whole new set. Im a true believer in it matters most where the rubber meets the road and for the cost I love fresh rubbers. I want to know when Im pushing the limits if the backwoods that i dont have to worry about tire failure, explosive or just slipping.
  12. here's a second for the barkbuster blizzards. I hate riding with handguards in the summer. Dont know why, just dont like it. These are easy on, easy off, minimal restriction inside and keep your hands toasty especially with grip warmers. Perfect for people like me who dont like handguards
  13. Maybe it has something to do with this - https://www.pacermonitor.com/public/case/4052626/Rostra_Precision_Controls# Can anyone dig deeper? tried searching it but all leads end up with needing access to the public records site. Says something about contract violations though, hopefully that points to the units being ok, but the owner being a bad businessman.
  14. wow, Brandon is closed? I have seen some talk of issues with the CC but I dont know any specifics and I have not experienced any issues. That does not inspire confidence though....
  15. @brick I used Cogent on my V Strom. I definitely want a review on what they do for you. Of all my effin sparkles I am least satisfied with the Andreani cartridges and keep thinking of something better.
  16. Be aware when I changed my handlebars I had to replace the clutch, throttle and brake lines to make it work. I had a discussion with another member here who just re-routed and ended up breaking his clutch cable. I special ordered all the cables and added 2 inches to their lengths to make it fit right.
  17. The Andreani's are decent. I like them over stock but have struggled to find the sweet spot. At some point I hope to have the time and money to get some parts from pattonme to make them better as I have read good things about his work as well.
  18. Any particular year? Are they plug and play or did they take some modding? thanks
  19. Im a beak hater..... but this one looks decent. But beaks are for off-roading. I rode a couple hundred miles of gravel/sand/forest roads this summer so it might have a purpose. Not sure if I can overcome my loathing of all things beak. For example: Why god, why?
  20. can i get an assist in interpreting the VIN ranges? It looks to me like the VIN ranges have 7 numbers and mine appears to only have six? Drop off the first zero? somewhat confusing.
