  1. yes... took a min or two... DIY kit from pattonme- the #2a option w/ adjustment at the fork caps rather than axle block and a KTech Razor R ... So he offers compression adjustment on one of the fork caps now? I got my cartridges done last year and both fork caps had rebound adjustment and one bottom cartridge bolts had compression adjustment. Good decision to finally get the suspension set up correctly, it’s worth every penny!
  2. Hmm... what part of this equation doesn't add up?
  3. I have Matt’s fork cartridges and I put the compression screw on the left leg (when sitting on the bike) that way when I adjust the compression I can pull the axle out about 1” to get at the screw without having to remove the entire axle. With his compression screw, a small adjustment makes a big difference, like from 12 o’clock to 2 o’clock noticeably firms up the front end.
  4. Not trying to hijack this thread, but does anyone know what shade of red the '15 model is listed as? **EDIT** Never mind, I found it. Yamaha 0918 Deep Red Metallic K (Shift Red) SKU # : 5253 Vendor : ColorRite Manufacturer : Yamaha Manufacturer Code : 0918 Requires Base #1253
  5. I purchased mine from eBay 2 weeks ago, the seller was dude0_15. Shipped from the UK. https://m.ebay.com/itm/Yamaha-MT-09-Tracer-900-Sport-Tracker-Street-Rally-XSR900-Chain-Adjusters/232712117141?hash=item362eb91b95:g:Q3sAAOSwj85YRvxZ Thank You!! No wonder I couldn't find them, I was searching for "axle block" and he has them listed as "chain adjuster". My buddy will be happy that they are still available for sale.
  6. Glad to hear that you got it all back together, just the stiffer springs will make a nice difference but with revalved internals as well, I think you are REALLY going to love the front end now.
  7. narrowed my choices down... -Cogent Dynamics carts and basic rear -pattonme carts and the zx6r (?) rear -stoltec carts and basic rear I plan to do the cart/spring swap myself... just need it for 50/50 street/track- Im more of a set it and forget it kinda guy... For a very fair price you can get Matts cartridges which work VERY well and Norwest basic revalve and spring for the shock.
  8. I knew I'd get it wrong (50/50 chance) @phpaul - sorry if I gave you bad advice to flip it over, like I said its been a year since I got my cartridges from Matt.
  9. My sprocket replacement was a piece of cake, the nuts came off like normal. I got those axle blocks on Ebay about a year ago and cant find them online anymore. A buddy with an FJ wants a set but we are coming up empty, where did you order yours from?
  10. That goes on the bottom of the cartridge in the bottom the fork. If you flip it over there should be a machined recess that the cartridge sits into. (if I remember correctly, its been almost a year)
  11. I ordered from Sprocket Center as well, I just got the DID VX chain and the RS7 sprocket. I originally had 15/45 gearing but switched to 16/47 (almost same gear ratio). Great company and great product. OEM chain was toast at 18k maybe because of smaller front sprocket? (tighter turn radius?)
  12. Like this one? Wow, where is that photo taken? Mt. St. Helens?
  13. Exact same experience here too, I tried this style carrier to transport a 200# MX bike. The hitch in the receiver was wobbly and made me so nervous that I was driving well under the limit, constantly checking the rear view mirror to make sure the bike didn't fall off. I never used it again. I cant imagine trying to transport a 500# bike with one.
  14. ...or at least 2/3 of the hand guard, the inner bar clamps are missing.
  15. Exactly what I used when I removed the OEM donkey ears. I like the look of that screen, what is it? What is the total length of the screen? Thanks
  16. Glad to hear that the install seems to have worked out, I’m surprised that your clutch is still excessively noisy, after my install the first thing I noticed upon starting the bike was drastically reduced noise.
  17. When I asked my mechanic about the swap, he said to soak the friction plates in oil for several hours, but don’t measure your clutch pack with it dripping oil, wipe them a bit then measure the pack. When you pull and release the clutch lever, does it feel normal? With only 3 springs the pull should be lighter but smooth like normal. When you say that it’s really clunking into gear makes me think that your clutch pack thickness might not be correct.
  18. On the bottom of the previous page I had some notes from my install. Read through each one and see if anything is out of line with your install. You said you have slop on your lever, did you align the triangle to the dot on the pull arm when there was tension? When I installed mine, I set the clutch cable at the pivot arm with the nut backed all the way loose at first then adjusted some tension to take up the slack along with the lever adjuster.
  19. I would say at a bare minimum, get the correct spring rate for your weight. Nor west can do minor surgery on the shock and you can alter the air chamber and oil viscosity in the forks to get them close. If you can afford it, I would say Norwest for the shock and Matt’s modifications on the forks. That would probably be the cheapest route to take.
  20. ^^This^^ is no exaggeration, in addition, swap out the stock tires to some sticky rubber and you will have died and gone to Heaven. The bike handles like a DREAM through corners, it gives you a whole new level of confidence when in "sport" mode.
  21. Another big thumbs up for the Bridgestone Battlax S21 tires. For tearing through the mountain and canyon twisties, they are awesome. (and for a "sport" tire, they are great on wet pavement). For summer road trips though, I switch to Pirelli Angel GT for more longevity. I hate that Bridgestone caught on to their rising popularity and considerably jacked up the prices.
  22. You are going to love it!! I do several multi-state road trips throughout the year and cant believe how often I use it. Did you get the standard switch or the FJR or Tenere switch? If you have any issues during installation, just ask, many on here have installed one and their instructions are terrific.
  23. Oh how I love reading first ride impressions after a suspension upgrade, it warms my heart!! It will be even better after the sag is set and you've "personalized" the settings.
  24. I don’t remember the year range but the R1 drain plug works as well. I think it was about $2-$3.
