  1. Owned a 1966 Mooney M20E before selling it to pursue other things. Love flying but need more time and funds for the hobbies. If and when they present themselves will probably build an experimental, RV or some such.
  2. +1 Have seen vibes and noise mentioned but have gone from damped to non on several different bikes without noticing a change in either.
  3. Yes, the manual calls for replacement and can't fault anybody for following that policy. Replaced mine because they needed replacing. But have also inspected and reused. Will continue to use my judgment on certain items a mfg might declare single use. Will also ignore the shift points in the manual, the chain slack spec, and some of the wild and whacky errata found in manuals over these many years
  4. No. You're nowhere close to needing new gaskets. Put that many miles on with the new exhaust weekend before last There's a description and photos of an exhaust removal here: https://fj-09.org/thread/2911/12-step-replace-oil-pan While it's not necessary to remove either wheel removing the rear makes it easier to get to things.
  5. The mushroom plugs are ok but I've had better success with sticky strings. Easy to add to your kit. Snag a travel shampoo to aid in locating hard to find leaks. And if neither works the Whtehorse Walmart will sell you a can of fix a flat on a Canadian holiday. When I was done with Alaska it looked like somebody had beat my tires with a barbed wire chain. Having taken an FJR to Prudhoe Bay I can say: you can get any kind of fuel you want in the hinterlands as long as it's regular. If you don't do your own cooking you'll be eating a lot of fried food and paying dearly. The Fairbanks Walmart is pretty good about a bunch of motorcyclists changing oil in the parking lot. Bug nets, 100% DEET, and neck protectors are good things.
  6. It's not difficult to install. Rear stand if you have one or sidestand if not will help leave the centerstand free to move making it easier to get the oem unit out. On higher mileage bikes I usually have new exhaust gaskets on hand when swapping out headers.
  7. Probably because many people received their Puig screen without those brackets. Mine didn't come with the brackets, neither did the replacement when I swapped smoke for clear. If Puig includes them now that's a good thing.
  8. Installed yesterday and took a ride today. Diggin it. Love yocracing.com for most parts and prices (don't forget to enter Time To Ride promo code) but at time of ordering best price I found was https://www.babbittsonline.com/
  9. Regarding the medusa... removed all of the items on the 660 cable that I'll never use. Here's a decent write up I stumbled upon that also has links to the same info used to get er done http://www.motorcycleinfo.co.uk/index2d35.html?fa=contentGeneric.kpxvskahyouozlms&pageId=2338005
  10. Been running iridiums for 5k miles. The 40k rated version, not the 80k rated version with platinum tip. Without a dyno not claiming any performance change. Simply wanted longer service interval and less times to handle/stress/pull those coil-on-caps that look like they could be damaged if ham-fisted.
