  1. Got the new Delkevic exhaust installed. Opted for the 14" can because I didn't want it to be obnoxiously loud. Even spent another $30 for the longer silencer tube because I wanted to make sure it wouldn't be a screamer. However I put it on with the shorter tube that it comes with and to me it doesn't sound a whole lot louder than the stock exhaust. It has a bit deeper rumble, a little bit less raspy than stock and you can hear the engine a bit more at speed. I'm not going to use the longer tube unless I feel like modifying it to play with the sound some.
  2. Not what I did, but what I'm going to do. Finally going to replace that big ugly box of an exhaust that hangs underneath the bike with this.
  3. It's not much of a toolkit anyway! I cut away the wall at the front of the under seat tray and put the McCruise unit further forward and still had room for the dinky toolkit plus a small 12V compressor under the seat.
  4. I understand about the problems with bike week and loud motorcycles, but people own the individual units in those condos and telling them what vehicles they can or cannot own based on the behavior of out of towners one or two weeks a year just seems wrong.
  5. Spending a week in Myrtle Beach SC and I see these signs posted at a lot of condos here. Guess I'll never be a condo owner here, don't see how they can legally exclude motorcycles when they are a registered and licensed form of transportation just like a car. Pisses me off every time I see one of these signs!
  6. I've got the beach part covered, but unfortunately I had to leave the fj at home. 😣
  7. Changed oil & filter, lubed the chain, had to rewire front turn signals, put new road 5 front tire on, ( OE tire had over 12,000 miles on it, it was seriously worn out, had changed the rear at 7,000 miles) and got the yearly safety inspection done.
  8. Made this stainless pad to give the side stand a bigger footprint. It has a little bit of swivel to let it adjust to different angles. And as an extra benefit it makes a neat swivel point for swinging the bike around on the side stand if you want to make a quick turnaround.
  9. I did this today. I know it looks a little dorky, but even though I like my Corbin seat it is slippery and has a little forward slope that had me constantly fighting sliding forward, instead of sitting comfortably in the big butt pocket. I wanted to build the front up a little to get rid of the forward slope, so I got this 20" x 20" sheepskin car seat pad from Amazon for only $26 and folded the front 5" back under to thicken up the front section. A little trimming, and sewing on some retaining straps and this is what I wound up with. It doesn't really make the seat any softer, but it definitely got rid of the sliding around and the forward slope. I like the way it sits now.
  10. I just checked and see that you are already on the map.
  11. Welcome darkfyre! Fellow North Carolinian here. Plenty of mod suggestions and farkling to be found here! Be sure and pin yourself on the member map. I keep looking to see if our little cluster of 9 members in NC has grown.
  12. I have one in pristine condition $40 plus shipping and it's yours. PM if interested.
  13. I finally got around to putting my rear LED turn signals on today. I had installed the front ones a few weeks ago. The rear ones were a lot more trouble, then I accidentally shorted two wires which blew the fuse and took out half the LED's on the two front signals. An expensive mistake, now I have to spend another $62 to replace the front ones again! 😥 Here's some pics that show the rear ones versus one of the fronts. I also did away with the reflectors on the rear that stuck out so far past the license plate. I think I'm one of the few on here that actually likes the "flying" tail light assembly, I have no interest in using a tail tidy.
  14. Yeah, seeing @betoney comments about them is what convinced me to give them a try.
  15. I only have experience with the Madstad windscreen, but I love mine. I've commuted with it all winter and it does an excellent job of blocking wind and turbulence. I got the dark smoke 24 inch. Their mount allows you to adjust both height and angle. It does such a good job I'm thinking about getting some kind of smaller screen for the hotter summer months so I can ride a little cooler. But first I guess I can try changing the angle and height to see if that will suffice. My bike is also the Galaxy blue.
  16. Welcome, I got the 2017 model too! I'm sure you will enjoy it. Be careful visiting this forum, these guys will entice you into making all kinds of changes and modifications Haha! Before you know it you will be dropping another 1 to 3 thousand into this bike! The 17 model came in White or Galaxy Blue which did you get?
  17. They are hand guards for a 650 Vstrom. They aren't a direct fit , takes a little modification to make them work. I like them, they fit very close to the hands and provide decent coverage and excellent clearance to the wind screen.
  18. I've not really had any complaint with handle bar vibrations, but I did replace the hand guards and made some heavy stainless steel bar ends with a step down that keeps the transition from grip to bar end from being so extreme.
  19. Finally got around to installing my Evotech radiator guard and the CNC Racing LED turn signals.
  20. The Givi crash bar makes a nice handle to grab hold of to assist with the lift onto the center stand.
  21. I've found that when I change oil I have to fill it almost to the top of the oil window or I get the oil light coming on. It is a bit worrisome when you see that light pop on!
  22. Just received my new Kappa K466 top box! I've been looking for a replacement for my 6 year old $36 generic top box. I was wanting something with a bit more room, I could barely close it on my full face helmet and you could forget about putting a jacket in with it. After checking out Givi and Shad I just didn't feel those plastic boxes were worth what they charge for them, at least not to me. After an internet search I found the Kappa at Motostorm. It's amazing how much cheaper those top boxes are overseas. With the optional backrest and shipping it was only $177 which is about half what anything comparable in the states costs. Already have it mounted and I think I'm really going to like it.
  23. Installed a new Road 5 rear tire yesterday. Had to do a little sanding on the valve stem hole with a dremel tool to get my new Moto-D angled valve stem to fit without folding over the rubber seal. Have an Evotech radiator guard to go on, but after fighting to get the old tire off and the new tire on the rim and back on the bike I didn't feel like fooling with it. I'll do it another day. Those 15 minute tire changes you see on videos just don't work out that fast for me!
