  1. Put a new chain, sprockets, and since I had the rear wheel off, I went ahead and changed out the PR5 (that I burned through). I went down 1 tooth on the front sprocket. The gold D.I.D. looks real good. {why it’s flipping the pictures upside down is beyond me}. I do wonder about the flaring of the pin though. I’ve never done a hollow pin before and I’m not sure I flared it enough.
  2. I got it off and changed out, along with the rear sprocket, chain, and rear tire. I just needed to let PB Blaster have time to do its work.
  3. I did unstake the nut. Weird design I’ve never seen before but I did do it. I eventually got it but damn it was on tight. Since I’ll have rear wheel off to change the rear sprocket, I’m pulling the PR5 off that didn’t last for shit and replacing it too.
  4. Tried changing my chain and sprockets but got stymied. The front sprocket is on tighter than anything I’ve seen before. I haven’t been able to remove it, even spraying PB Blaster on it. I guess I’ll let the PB sit a bit longer. Edit: finally got it loose.
  5. Sorry to resurrect an old thread but figured I'd toss this in here from my search of my issue. I'm trying to get my front sprocket off and I've resorted to spraying PB Blaster on it because it won't budge (allowing time for the PB to work its magic while I post this). The thread is a typical lefty loosey, right? Mine is the opposite of some I've read here about being not on too well. It feels like mine was put on with gorilla strength. I have in 1st gear and on the sidestand and it isn't budging yet.
  6. Thanks. Seeing as how it's almost noon, I'm going to bag my trip. I'll spend a bit looking online for an adapter and OBD since it will probably be cheaper than the dealer charging me an hour of labor to do this.
  7. I just left earlier this morning for a 3 day trip and about 20 miles from the house, the ABS light and CEL came on. The cruise control light began blinking and the quickshifter "QS" on the dash isn't on. I got off the bike and noticed the rear wheel ABS sensor wasn't screwed in tight. I had just changed the rear tire a few days ago and today was the first ride since, so I went straight to the rear wheel and saw I hadn't tightened the screw enough apparently. Once I got that tightened on the side of the road, the ABS light went off when I got to 6 mph as usual and the cruise works again. But the CEL is still on and I'm locked out of the menu. I came back home even though I'm 99% sure I've fixed the issue other than the CEL still being on. Is there anything I can do other than order a diagnostic tool to clear whatever code is keeping the CEL on, short of going to the dealer Tuesday when they open? Sucks because now I'm wary of taking off for 3 days being hundreds of miles from home with the CEL on.
  8. Edit - I just realized I put this in the issues and solutions category. I've put it in tech questions. 9. It looks like you have an FJ. Do you know if the mounts are the same for the Tracer?

    Let's talk GLOVES!

Sorry to resurrect an old thread but I'm in the market for more gloves (like many sound like here, I'm a glove whore). I have a pair of the original Alpinestars Celer gloves and really like them, so I Googled to see if there was another closeout for the original version. What I did find was a Gore-Tex version that seems to only be overseas. Has anyone seen them Stateside? I don't necessarily need another pair of waterproof gloves, but I like the Celers so much, I'd just as soon get the Gore-Tex version.
  11. I thoroughly enjoyed it. If it were less expensive, I would have signed up for the Inde school while I was there. All of the instructors were top notch, too. Couldn’t be more pleased.
  12. What did I do to mine today? Put it on Road Atlanta with the Yamaha Riders Championship School and realized early I have some habits to break and some to develop.
  13. If that's the case, I'll leave mine alone.
  14. I'm getting ready for my ChampSchool next week at Road Atlanta. I'm contemplating going ahead and taking the centerstand off before I get there. I've never done a school or anything on a track other than 15 years ago and turned about 10 laps on a kart track with my DRZ-SM. I'm a little anxious.
  15. Lord, ain’t that the truth! You should see my old red one-piece Roadcrafter and my slightly less old red Darien. The Roadcrafter looks just like you’d expect with all the miles it’s ridden.
  16. I took mine out for a quick 40 mile ride last night and all works as it should. I was worried the dealer wouldn’t get the brake lever firm enough after the fix but damn, they did a bang up job. Couldn’t be happier with it.
  17. Mine did the same thing but when I started it up again and turned the cruise back on it continued blinking. My recall has been done but I haven’t had a chance to ride it and test it yet.
  18. I pick mine back up tomorrow. Dealer hooked me up and went ahead and ordered the part and was told this morning that the recall has been taken care of and is ready to rock.
  19. I have the older version of that myself that goes wherever I go. It lives in my topcase.
  20. I only Live a little more than an hour away but I’m going to get a hotel room Sunday nearby so I can be there fresh Monday morning. I know leathers are a requirement and I don’t have any. Any recommendations on where to get a set that won’t break the bank for something I won’t wear hardly ever?
  21. Take it easy on me. Lol This will be my first “real track” experience other than a couple kart tracks on my old Supermoto years ago. I’ll most likely be on my Tracer but I might bring my $1000 Tiger ‘just in case’....
  22. Mine is scheduled to arrive today. The dealer was just telling me yesterday that he already has my part on order.
  23. Thanks for the reminder. I have a Yamaha ChampSchool outing at Road Atlanta in April and was planning on ordering a set of S22’s for those two days of track time. I had a set of S21’s a couple summers ago and loved them.
  24. I haven’t. I was actually talking to the service department at my dealer where my Tracer currently is sitting waiting on parts. Hopefully the recall will happen while they have it and both can get taken care of at the same time.
