  1. Good point. Maybe MY '24 will have some new features, or least a single bigger TFT screen,eh
  2. Xmas came earlier than expectated😁. 10 whole miles so far, but while it's apples to oranges, agree the gen 3 engine has noticeably more low end grunt than the gen 2, even comparing stock to my flashed bike with a full cat-less exhaust. yeehaw🤪
  3. Oh yeah this is a motorcycle forum😏isn't it...... My theory on the lack of '23 9GTs for the Land of Free- Yamaha hopes to build some demand by decreasing supply.....
  4. Apologies, but I think you are overlooking geography: you can ride across all of Europe ( excluding Russia) in 4 days or so. It would take more than a week just to ride across all of the Western states in the US even at Iron Butt levels.....
  5. well, i'm being light hearted,eh; except for the realistic comment: 40% of all imports into the US arrive at ports in long Beach and LA. If they went into the ocean the impact on the economy would be unprecedented, not to mention your ability to hop on down to the Wallyworld to buy stuff. And yeah, very little in the way of common sense comes out of Sacramento. But there are plenty of farmers, ranchers and common folk in the state who probably have as much common sense as anyone in the Northeast.
  6. Snide response: oh yeah, we down here in Az eagerly await Lake Havasu City becoming a seaside resort town instead of merely a Lake town 🤠 Sensitive response: my god man, do you realize how many millions of people would die😬 Realistic response: dude, you think we have supply chain problems now? Not too mention the refugee scenario. Hope ya gotta a lotta MREs, ammo and reliable firearms.....🙃
  7. Indeed, being able to ride year-round was a dream come true the first couple of years down here in Az, compared to the seasonal nature of motorcycling in North Idaho. Used to go ride Hwy 88 every freakin day; 110' in the Summer or 60' in the Winter, didn't matter. But as the novelty wore off, and health issues from my cancer have gotten worse, well I just don't ride enough anymore. Sure miss some of great riding the PNW has to offer ; we only have a few rides down here that come close. Still any riding is better than none,eh.
  8. Welcome to the "club" bro. You'll love the bike like some exotic, hard to please Iron Mistress who always seems to need a new "trinket"😁. Just kidding, sure it's fine just as is; but there is no end to the $$s one can dump into a Harley....( carbon fiber everything, always a better suspension setup just "around the corner" and of course- the pro shop built blue printed engine, for starters...)
  9. True, and somethings already have changed: we can at least "lane filter" now....🤠
  10. Yeah I feel ya, can't do a sportbike rider triangle anymore- wrists and neck feel it for days after. Even an XSR 900 is a little too aggresive and certainly not a Ninja nor the new GSXeR GT would work, me thinks. Too bad, the Suzie looks to be a winner. But I am stuck on the triple- the HP to TRQ ratio is suberb for street riding.
  11. I bet you could get out the door for right around 15k at that San Diego FBC listing....
  12. States can do as they like regarding vehicle laws&regulations, provided those don't supersede any federal laws. Thank God Arizona has reasonable laws....
  13. nice, like the white with the gold wheels, ya'all get some cool shit down under,eh ( edit:MY23 RIDE AWAY PRICE $ 17,024 US dollars)
  14. 🤑Nash powersports in Mesa wants 18K OTD for a 2022 Red 9GT🤑 that's after applying a $500 gift card offer🤣
  15. if you are asking me? None, I have some soft throw over sport bike bags that will work if I get some pannier supports, as well as a Givi soft trunk. The 80 lbs lighter gen 3 Mt-09 vs 9GT comment was regarding stock configs with the 9GT wearing her panniers. Thing for me is I'm just not doing the long distance touring on the GT 900 that I thought I would; too fat and lazy nowadays. 90% of the miles I've put on her have been "hooning" around town and day riding up in the Mts. The MT will be more fun for that kind of riding and be fine for an overnighter with windshield and some soft bags,eh. Longer distance I'll break out the MoTow and pull it behind the Mazda, take my dog, Paddleboard, etc. ( sees scornful looks, hears scoffs of derision....😂
  16. if it fails and you crash: yes it is your fault; you didn't have to crash, did you? Did you become so complacent due to the ABS that you tromp on the brakes at the last moment instead of anticipating/detecting/evading/escaping?
  17. A Sporty ain't a good starter bike- top heavy, hard clutch with a lot of low end grunt, poor ergonomics in standard form....despite the MoCo pushing it as the starter/newbie machine for decades. Of course if you conquer it you have acquired some skill Agree that ABS is probably the most important safety device for a newb motorcyclist: the automobile driver conditioned reflex to step on the brake in panic situations takes time to overcome, and never happens for "weekend warriors"
  18. It can only be the rider, period. Regardless of what goes wrong, who did what, etc, only you can do anything about it,eh. Rider aids are nice to have, but no replacement for acquired skills or situational awareness. Poorly designed motorcycles with inherent performance flaws are still ridable ( Kawasaki H2 750 comes to mind in that regard) by skilled motorcyclists; albeit, death machines for the unskilled....
  19. Yaas, I'm as excited as a "virgin on prom night". About 80 lbs lighter than a 9GT with panniers mounted; 60 something lbs lighter than my GT900 with ultralight titanium exhaust: fun factor should be huge 😁
  20. thanks for clearing that up. Hmmm, I just put a healthy deposit on a '23 MT-09 SP, wonder what config the quickshifter will be.....
  21. Yamaha shows no 2023 9GT at all for the US market on the their site; every other model ( dual-sport to sportbike) shows a 2023 version...looks like it's true then, we ain't gonna see the '23
  22. you have to close the throttle to downshift with the QS? Really...was sure I read that new QS could downshift at any RPM under 9k....
  23. No I don't think so, same QS on all models: MT-09; XRS 900 and 9GT.....
  24. PhotoAl Indeed, old enuff to remember all the scams🙃 I'm sure they are waiting on a few minor parts to fix that 9GT up. Sat on it and it felt just like my GT 900. But the color doesn't do it for me, and although it felt just like my GT 900, something about the bike suggested a more civil attitude😇. And yeah, the other dealers in my area are scum sucking, corporate type azzholes🤔 They did have a bike on the floor that gave me a bit of a "chubby": a 2022 MT-09 SP ( it called to me ,man. LOL how many times I've heard that line from peeps .... but it did, like a sexy woman you see while out with your current squeeze, a big that's what I want....)
