  1. I was completely sold on shorties for this bike, especially because I found the clutch to be lighter than usual. i had almost the exact same ones, but found that the round end of the shorty was more in the way than the long lever. I sent them back and got the exact same ones in normal length and couldn’t be happier. It could be that the design was just a little off or it’s a hand/finger size thing. Anyway it’s great that we have options Side note for a bit of controversy: In a master class i did a month or two ago the instructors had just worked together with the government and a German science team to form a new program wirh at it’s core all the new statistics they have concerning casualties with bikes. We got to learn the new insights before they will start changing the school programs and official exams. (Despite my arguments) they were adamant that we have to brake 4-fingered at all times. No more squeezing the orange but full on front braking and let the ABS do it’s thing. You will always stop shorter according to their tests. Also swerving is useless… just brake hard. I didn’t like their black and white reasoning and believe there is a time and a place for every technique but have started switching back to 4 fingers when I want to brake hard. I’ve never been shy to work the ABS and often practise a few panic brakes so it’s not a big change for me. That is the basis of all this; practising what you do when you panic because no matter how much you practise swerving you will not do it in a blind panic situation. So say the scientists at least. I am not selling this, just sharing what they told us. 😅
  2. Installed the MRA touring screen and went for a three hour test ride. I am in love. I had no idea that getting rid of that Puig touring barn door would have this effect on me. I absolutely love it. Smooth clean air on the helmet and the best look out there IMO. Highly recommended.
  3. I agree. I have a Puig touring with the bolt on X-creen and it works great. I'm 6' and if I drop my head just a little it's almost perfect so a shorter rider may not need the added spoiler. I did just order an MRA Touring just because the Puig works too well when it's hot and does look huge. Just from an esthetic standpoint the MRA is the one that the bike should come IMO with but that is really subjective of course. I'll just add what I retained from my research, take it with a grain of salt; -Givi does not do wind tunnel testing so their screens are just designed on looks. They tend to not be very aerodynamic. I bought mine with this Givi on and it was awful. YMMV -Puig does test extensively and I agree with their data from experience. Personally I don't really like their designs but will choose what works over what looks good every time. My current setup: -MRA looks good and is more expensive than the Italian and Spanish offerings (here in the EU at least) and they also are supposed to be well tested. Mine is in the mail so I can only vouch for their X-creen that I already use (see above). I copied this picture from another user but don't remember who. My apologies. -I also had a tall Vstream on my Versys which was as good as the Puig touring. It was a bit taller even and that, with the x-creen, made for open visor rides at any speeds. Didn't much care for the look though: @pokey074 I voted Puig touring as it is well made, it does it's job, it's not expensive and might work without the spoiler for you. But depending on your priorities there may be better options.
  4. You wrote MRA sport touring but AFAIK there is a sport (very short) and a touring version (still looks sporty but a bit taller) and the touring vario (touring + spoiler). If you still have the one you posted before, it is the touring version without the lip. I remember (that thread was my very first contact with this site 🙂) that you were that enthusiastic when you first got it so it's great to see this recommendation after a few months. To me this is the best looking screen out there by far so I have ordered one to use as a summer screen if the noise isn't too bad. I have a very good working setup (Puig Touring + MRA X-creen spoiler) but it looks ugly and works too well when it's hot. I'm 6' so hopefully above the buffeting zone. 🤞 I really want this to work. LOVE that look.
  5. That sucks man. If it were me I would ride it in the rain. I get that you want to keep it showroom clean but just think that will get to clean every inch of it after and really get to know all the parts intimately. 😎 This works wonders for spotting anything off or coming loose. Not that you should expect that but it's great for your piece of mind, I find.
  6. I am with you on never using always, I was only mass-quoting. 😁 But good to know that this is not the Achilles heel of the bike as I was led to believe.. or at least not always.
  7. That is great. Which year is your bike? I keep hearing that there are always too tight and should be checked earlier than the shop manual says. I've bought my bike with 5k miles and RS3's in good condition on there. They are now near the wear bar with the odo on 10k miles.
  8. I have a Yamaha heated comfort seat and am quite happy with it. It came with the bike so I can’t compare. It’s comfortable and I don’t have slope issues.
  9. I have the exact same ones as illustrated in this post (there's a few variations coming from China) and I agree that the build quality of the metal is perfectly fine. I've stood on them on many occasions. The rubber on the rear brake side is in shreds though after just a few months and approx 6000 km. The left is still fine. Also, I'm alone in this but I still think that I feel more vibrations with these than with the stock pegs but on a smaller rpm bandwidth (around 5-7k). No vibrations in the handlebars. I did find the screws that hold the rubber to be kind of loose and tightened them upon installation. I have wondered from time to time if they are supposed to be loose maybe. I've seen others that are riveted. I'm still deciding what to do; get another set, go back to the OEM's or get those nice ones from the Tenere or ... the 2021 Tracer 9 has rubber pegs! I noticed it in the showroom. Yamaha is always listening!
  10. Yes you can. Still very happy with the mount and I’m pretty sure he ships worldwide. Great service as well. It looks like a printed part though and not slick like something from a factory. There are ways to smooth it out if you want.
  11. Ride it like I stole it! Between the ECU flash and the Ohlins it feels like I’ve died and went to motorcycle heaven.
  12. Wow, you have an XR and a Tracer. I’d be interested to hear a comparison from experience when you’re taking a break from all that riding. Enjoy the trip(s)!
  13. I also have a 2019 and have fitted cheap Chinese extenders. These last months I've messed around with 3 or 4 different sets of levers until I settled on the ones I have now which means that I have taken the mirrors off many times. Sometimes I bang one into the door when backing out the bike. With all that going on I have never had any problems with the mirrors coming loose. Once I tighten them I can move them and they stay exactly like I put them until I (or a door) move them. I don't like their looks but they are more stable than on my kawasakis. I wish I could offer some help but I don't think I do anything special when I install them. I turn the complete thing in on it's thread and when it's almost tight on it's own, I just tighten the lock nut. I don't understand they can come loose from the wind pressure. Isn't it so that the left is reverse thread and the right isn't so both only get tighter when pushed backwards by the wind?
  14. It's a 2019. I just reached out to him because he seemed very happy with the results but we only talked about what the tune does but not this specific result. Tovami came highly recommended, a father and son, both racers. A lot of experience; the father is 67 and they have tuned 25000 bikes since 1993. They were the importers for DynoJet. (I just read their "about us" ) I was supposed to go in two weeks but told them that they could call me if anyone cancelled. Yesterday I got the call but I had not yet done my research so I had no idea that this was such a good result. He just got back to me and told me that I have a strong engine and that this result is better than the many other Tracers he has done before. The last one he did had an Akra and got 115 hp (with db killers). The best ever was 131 hp (open Akra). So yeah, quite a nice surprise. I'm glad I didn't give up on the bike.
  15. And you deserve some praise for that. Every time I look for answers on facebook or general motorcycle forums it doesn't take long for me to get annoyed by the general lack of respect and log out. I've turned my back on social media in general but I find myself enjoying this forum and had not yet considered that good moderation is at the heart of that. So thanks moderators! 👍
  16. This was done by Tovami in the Netherlands using Woolich Racing software. I'm just learning all this stuff but as I understood it the Tracer has little more than 100 hp at the wheel so 114hp at the wheel with standard exhaust seems pretty great. It feels more powerful but that is torque I guess. There was no baseline done as they didn't see the point. This is still a factory setup with standard exhaust and air filter so those stats are standard and they have them in their system. I also told them that power gains were not important to me, I did this to smooth out the fueling and get rid of the on/off feel. the "after" (graph 2) reads: Power max = 113.6 at 10279.8 rpm Torque max = 91.6 at 8192.6 rpm The one going through all gears (graph 1) reads: Power max = 114.4 at 198.9 km/h (123.6 mph) I quickly tried to find a baseline online... I know it's a different dyno but just for reference I found this 2015 with with full AKRO: Before 103.9 HP (I've found this to be the standard HP on other Dyno sheets) After 109.2 HP
  17. Had my ECU flashed, then took the long way home on a three hour trip on rural roads by the sea. Great fun! Again thanks to @Wintersdark because the skills I got from your TBS tutorial saved me some money! I made a deal with the tuner to quickly remove all fairings myself to get the ECU. I took a small selection of tools and did it in their shop. I loved how much faster I was compared to the first time and they seemed impressed as well. (could just be my ego talking 😅). Anyway, my confidence level is up, that is for sure. Next up: replace my almost threadless dunlop RSIII's with the PR5's I have lying around. And then to the Alps!
  18. As I've written here before, I have zero doubt that some people like the OP are experiencing abnormal loud whine. I've read about it too many times. It's a shame that these reports are often shot down by people who think that if their bike doesn't do it, surely it can't exist in others. I don't understand that way of thinking, @OZVFR I don't think anyone has solved it. I have seen people selling their bikes because of it. I've always liked that sound but it's a lot louder some rides than others which is weird. I have it in all gears, most in 3rd, less in 6th. Could be because I'm almost never on the highway and don't use 6th often... I hope you find a way to solve it or ignore it.
  19. I’ve had this same one for a few months and it’s still going strong. Does it also have the full cover with the led shining through? A much better design IMO
  20. I did this two days ago but I always forget to post what I did here. I replaced the coolant. The bike is 2 years old now. First I watched some videos and read up on *sigh* yet another controversy about what coolant should be used, then went with Ethylene Glycol-based as per the manual. I first drained as normal and disconnected one big hose that obviously held a lot of liquid hanging down below the drain bolt and then flushed with 50/50 demineralized water and white vinegar. Got the bike up to temp to let the pump do it's work, let the engine cool down and drained again. Then the same procedure with only demineralized water. Finally filled up with the new coolant. I also gave the overflow tank a good cleaning and the parts of the engine that I could now reach behind. The bike seemed very happy with the attention and gave me a trouble free ride afterwards. No stuttering or anything. Maybe I've been going at this all wrong, trying to find scientific answers as to why the bike isn't happy, it just wants love and affection! 👍😎
  21. I've considered doing this. How much time would you estimate to put them back on when needed?
  22. Adjust Fan Temperature A mod that all tunes offer but I don't understand it. Can anyone school me why Yamaha sets a higher temperature than we want? Or why do we want it lower? As it is with the stock setting (105 ℃) I'm usually the only one with the fan on during courses (between Ducatis and BMW's) so setting the temp lower will make it start even sooner which does not sound like a good thing. I did just change the coolant yesterday though so maybe the engine will run cooler now.
  23. I have been in direct contact with Woolich and they say the cruise control mod can't be done. Bummer. I know Ivan's flash does this though but he uses his own software I guess.
  24. It sure sounds like it's the switch but I have read other reports about it being tough to turn it back on. I've quickly searched for one but there are more on this forum:
