  1. Thanks Steve!! Glad you got it sorted out and were able to document the process. Looks like I don't have enough beer for this one so it may have to wait a bit, haha. What a mess to get to the lock...ðŸĪŠ
  2. I posted a similar issue with mine: Try turning the key to the left and then push the button. I believe the dealer does install the lock (had some paperwork indicating such) and perhaps there is an orientation needed to properly install. I plan to take mine apart later today to take a look, will keep you posted. Mine only happens on one pannier case and so far I'm just dealt with it sadly. Incredibly annoying how cheap these locks feel too. The pieces you pictures looks to be the locking mechanism holders but does that mean you have a gap around your locks currently or perhaps these were extra?
  3. I think the warranty mainly applies if using factory parts but I completely get where you're at-- was in a similar situation myself. I ended up bringing out the breaker bar and some extensions to get the factory link off. Took some effort and ooga-dooga's but with the right angle it can be done. I installed Soupy's lower link on my '21 T9GT and ironically, haven't adjusted it away from the factory height. Suspension calibration passes on my bike and based off the service manual symptoms of a failed suspension calibration, I can't imagine not having this functional. Damping preset goes to maximum if any abnormalities are detected. Attaching two pages from the service book-- has any other work been done to the bike other than lowering link?
  4. I thought you said you weren't going to touch the electrical this time around? Either way, you have me interested in the FUZEBLOCK or similar now. But curious why not use the 12v port or run a second (switched) line from the battery? I'm going to start figuring out my Garmin and radar detector setup this weekend if all arrives in time.
  5. https://www.helibars.com/yamaha/yamaha-tracer-900gt/helibars-tour-performance-handlebar-riser-for-yamaha-tracer-900gt/ Heli ATP got me a great deal on these risers. Site indicates 2019+, I haven't installed mine just yet but hoping to get it done this coming weekend. If it fits on my 2021 it should work fine with yours. Will post some follow-up pics once complete, darn work getting in the way!
  6. Something else to consider is a helmet, boot, and/or glove dryer. I've got one made by PEET and it's just a slow, warm, heat which helps dry off gear but I found it to be helpful for deodorizing gear a bit after each ride. Can be left on safely overnight and it barely consumes any power. Plenty of other brands have come about in the more recent years... PEET also now makes a dedicated deodorizer but I'm not sure what differs (ozone generator? etc.). https://www.amazon.com/PEET-Original-2-Shoe-Electric-Dryer/dp/B001J4HQ76?ref_=ast_sto_dp https://www.amazon.com/PEET-Dryer-Helmet-DryPort-Attachment/dp/B001LR1YWE?ref_=ast_sto_dp This in combination with your occasional cleaning/spraying of the inside of the helmet are bound to cut down on some of the funk. Edit: https://www.amazon.com/PEET-DOdorizr-Sanitizing-Deodorizing-Module/dp/B013UKVL2M?ref_=ast_sto_dp It is a mini ozone generator so be wary if you believe this may be harmful with limited use in a closed environment. It's used in combination with the aforementioned PEET dryer. Seems neat... if I do find the dryer isn't working as well this year I may have to grab one.
  7. Curious if anyone has any trouble opening their side luggage? I swear I opened my right side pannier case once upon a time. Checking on it, seems like I have to set it to the 'fully unlocked' removal setting (turned counter clockwise with key) to use the button and open the case. I think I managed to turn it to the right once but it was very difficult. I did see some instructions when I first bought the bike which pointed towards the dealer needing to install a matching lock mechanism to the factory key. Probably just need to ask the dealer to fix it but will likely see if I can drop just the one case off and a spare key for verification sake. Just strange it works when turning counterclockwise but won't budge turning clockwise. And unrelated but I suppose I should also ask the dealer about the front plastic assembly holding the turn indicator (mine snapped after attempting to re-seat the indicator after it fell loose in some cold weather. May as well see if they'll cover the ~$450 part under warranty, just don't want to leave my baby behind!!
  8. Curious why not "fuel consumption" on the secondary screen? I find myself filling up after ~3 gallons used but am tempted to push it towards the 5 gallon mark this next ride. Not sure how this counter operates but you have me wondering...
  9. Ordered mine from Evotech directly as well. Only gripe is surrounding the small rubber spacers-- mine were loose in the box instead of a bag or contained, could have easily been lost in transit but they all showed up thankfully. Also ordered a set of short levers to help alleviate some of the shipping cost. Watch Bennetts Bikes interview with Evotech to get an idea of the sheer amount of research and engineering these folks put in to their products. Passion and care go a long way to getting and retaining customers, love it.
  10. Did either of you happen to order the 'low' seat? The pictures on their site make it seem quite a bit taller and less of a slope where the legs fall off: https://www.corbin.com/yamaha/ytrc21gle.shtml I've always considered a corbin seat for my bikes but never got around to purchasing due to the expense. Would love to hear someone chime in about comfort in comparison to a factory 'comfort' seat... as well as how the heated options compare. Think my wife would be shutting off or turning on the heat to my seat by accident?
  11. I think those are factory handguards to the 2018 GOO GT... a few more pics and item details: Part Number: B5C-26143-00-P2 https://www.ebay.co.uk/itm/264982300169?hash=item3db22d0609:g:NWoAAOSwVIZf3cDA https://www.cmsnl.com/products/guardbrush-1_b5c2614100/ https://www.cmsnl.com/products/coverhandle-upper-1_b5c2614300p2/
  12. I looked at this picture the other night and honestly thought it was a joke... looked like you were filling from a drain hole, haha. Did my first oil change on the Tracer today and had to double check where I was filling it from. After cutting a few plastic bottles and a piece of tin foil to try and make a makeshift funnel I ended up ordering the same funnel. Made a bit of a mess for today but proper tools are on the way. The CP3 is so bizarre in comparison to my previous inline 4's!
  13. Second set of Heed Bunker Crash bars with ADV Highway pegs added. Didn't measure or check orientation of the highway bars just yet, had to run in and out between a lunch break to install.
  14. Splitting this into two posts due to image size. Some images below of my adv highway pegs on my badly beaten 2006 FZ6 (timing chain failed on the ride home after a deposit was placed on the MTT9GT). More pics of the Heed Bunker Bars and some Pyramid Plastics on the lighting. Will hopefully take some better pictures of the bike this weekend. EDIT: And for those of you questioning why I went with K&N filters on my FZ6. My hands don't fit in small spaces as well as they used to-- got my wrist caught when working on the Tracer the other day and was about to call out for help. Tight!
  15. I've been watching loads of his videos lately. Super tempted to do a remote session with him to get some ideas. Really cool you got out to meet him in person and I'm certain even a 15-30 minutes session with the guy could give some folks a wealth of information. 👍
  16. Check out the following member @Clegg78 created seat slope mod: https://jk3d.us/product/yamaha-tracer-900-gt-seat-slope-modification/
  17. Thanks all! Definitely going OEM at least through the warranty period. My main reason for an aftermarket oil filter is to easily wrench it off with a socket and torque a new one on to spec. I'll just get it hand-tight and be sure to leave my hulk hands in the toolbox... I do have a handful of KN-204's from my FZ6/FZ1 but the volume of the filter appears a bit different, likely still usable but may require a bit more oil to be in the proper range. Probably overthinking it all as usual. 🙂
  18. Hi all, I'm sure several of you have done your first 600 mile maintenance and beyond on your 2021 T9 GT's... curious if anyone can link the relevant oil filter? I ordered an OEM: A-5GH-13440-61-00 based off PartZilla/BikeBandit/etc. Curious if there is a K&N or similar aftermarket variant? K&N's website simply reports back an error with no available parts matching the MTT9GT. Thanks as always and looking forward to the many years ahead.
  19. I bought my 2021 Tracer 9 GT last week and funny enough I knew about the recall before they did thanks to RideApart. Dealership ordered the $6 throttle tube on a Thursday. Called back every day and ultimately they finally had the part delivered part on Tuesday when they reopened. ECU flash is painless and alone will take them under 30 minutes, received mine on Wednesday and been blasting around like a giddy schoolgirl since. Just have your dealership order the part ahead of time and they should be able to get you in/out in under 2 hours. Had both recalls performed before I got my bike but I really don't think the throttle tube will be unavailable much. They're common to other motos in the Yamaha lineup I believe. RideApart article on the recall: https://www.rideapart.com/news/573006/yamaha-mt09-tracer9-ecu-recall/ And the Yamaha VIN recall check link: https://www.yamaha-dealers.com/public/web/techpubs/nhtsaPublications.html
  20. While they aren't adventure bikes there are a few additional benefits to crash bars over sliders but it certainly boils down to personal preference. I ordered a set of Heed Bunker Bars for my 2021 Tracer 9 GT and will be installing this week-- will post a few pics if anyone is interested. I like to think these will hopefully protect the plastics and engine from a lower speed tip over but everyone will have their take on the subject. Crash bars allow for easy installation of additional lighting, cup holders (ha), and my recent favorite-- highway pegs.
  21. Did you end up using their measuring information on their site or which size did you choose? I just got my Tracer this morning and quickly noticed the headshake at highway speeds-- ordering the MADSTAD as soon as possible.
